- John Hunt Morgan was a confederate raider during the Civil War. Originally from Lexington, and now buried there, Morgan conducted a series of raids into Kentucky, with his most famous raid occurring in 1863. Morgan started in Tennessee, worked his way through Kentucky, and eventually ended up in Indiana and Ohio. In this story, we’ll dive deeper into what is now known as Morgan’s Great Raid and learn more about the man behind it.

My great and great great grandfathers rode with Morgan. They were taken prisoner in Cynthiana and sent to a POW camp in Chicago before getting out through a prisoner exchange a year later.
2 of my ancestors as well. They were captured and jailed in Ohio.

My family just sold our family farm in 2018 in South Central Ky. I really hope they didn’t find the gold coins there.
take away the uniforms and jingoism and all military actions are murder and mayhem. punished only when an individual acts out his destructive behavior. Morgan's group acted more as outlaws than honorable soldiers.

Not one mention of mcconnelsville ohio which is morgan County. There is one of his solider buried there a Kentucky gentleman
When Morgan escaped the Ohio Pen. he ran right thru the present Arena party district in Columbus.
I live in SE Ohio near the Buffington Island memorial. Plaques are still up all over back roads with local tales of terrorism. He had no use for Indians living peacefully in the area burning villages. From your report sounds like the death of his brother made him crazy and loose all control.
the more I learn. the more I wonder. one side of my family is Lawson Carr Hill Sizemore Crawford Jackson . other side is Dixon Wells Morgan Kelly. all born and raised in lived Kentucky Ohio Tennessee area.they never taught me much family history. didn't want to talk when I asked. just told me about wars they fought or their parents fought. and Kentucky didn't have a hospital when they was born. or said idk. really sucks learning things the hard way.
Proud to have had 3 ancestors on that raid. I had just as many ancestors that fought for the north as did for the south like every one of you. So if you want to blame anyone, blame yourselves.
Total respect for Morgan. Look what Lincoln did to the country. The South was right (also the title of a very good book). Gorbachev handled his break-up peacefully; Lincoln didn't.
You would have had a better video if you had used pro-southern historians, instead of the ones you did, with their agenda.
