Good to see a practical solution to supplying the required GPS for dstar/internal clock! I'm sure there's a few local hams here who have IC-9700 and haven't bothered with hooking up a GPS because dealing with the 5v requirements...
If you don't want to build your own cable, The Byonics model "GPIAP" cable is an alternative. It comes with a Power Pole connector, but could be modified to power from the accessory port. If you are looking for a GPS puck, the Garmin 18X LVC units can be found cheap and work great.
I just set the GPS manually and sync time over the network port.
