Beautiful work. Sublime. I hear Purcell very much in this, as well as Byrd’s echo in the English Services. But mysteriously, I also hear the reaching chords and silences of Faure and Durufle. How very moved I am by this honest take, this severity in motion as one sits in the pew and wrestles on the grave matter at hand: if these words are indeed true, that it is the body and Blood of Jesus Christ Thomas wrote this hymn to, then it is Everything. Thank you for this.
Mr. Preece, the choir sang this again last night (to my surprise) at the Benediction following the Musical Oratory of Advent. Words cannot describe how beautiful this piece of music is when you hear it live, as I did. As they sang it, Sean slowed the pace gradually, throughout, with a clear decrescendo. By the end it was nearly pp, and the Amen then had a "< >". Truly incredible work, sir.
I am so deeply honoured that it was performed again. I heard Sean and the choir’s previous performance of it and was blown away by their beautiful interpretation. Thank you for letting me know that it was sung at the Benediction. One day I would love to come and hear the choir in person! Benedict
I'll try again. Old St. Mary's in CIncinnati. Volunteer choir with 5 to 6 professional singers "taking the lead". OSM has a long tradition of beautiful music for its Masses and your excellent piece was the stunning ending to Benediction following Mass.
Magnifique composition, tout comme le Pane Lingua. Quel bonheur! Ou peut-on obtenir la partition de ces deux morceaux? Cordial bonjour depuis l'est de la Belgique.
I have a feeling Filipinos will love this composition. Lovely! Glad that I stumbled upon this.
Oh wow, thanks. Feel free to share it :)
Such a stunning piece of music. Bravo!
Thanks very much :)
What an absolutely delightful piece . So well put together
Thank you 🙏
