Very well put out. I am starting to finally realise how true it's. Perfect mix is very subjective thing. And yeah, you basically just mentioned all the struggle beginner 'mix engineer' goes through in aim to release a song. I am personally guilty of that. Always spending ridiculous time in mixing just trying to get that 'perfect mix' that stops me from actually ever releasing a track. I am trying my best nowadays to be more true to myself and a bit more forgiving to myself, not forcing things, just do the mix that sounds pleasant to myself and move on.
Great video once again! That advice about referencing starting from production when you are chasing a certain sound is very useful especially for those starting out. And very good advice about realistic expectations too when doing a mix. We can never sound exactly the records we adore - UNLESS, we produce them like exactly the way they did.
I love this channel man please don’t ever change when you/the channel gets big! lol. Just a genuine dude. Would you ever consider a mix critique? If I sent something over?
Great video. I think arrangement is the most undervalued part of a great song. A good song well arranged will hit with just a bit of volume balance and a great mix adds 10-15%. Allocate your time appropriately. 🙃
Dude! Thank you so much for posting this. Your content is always so killer and inspiring. Keep up the incredible work and thank you for the joy your videos bring 🎉
I'm struggling....but it's a good struggle. I'm learning my plugins, learning my DAW, and picking up new skills here-and-there with the help of mixing videos like yours. I'm still not where I'd like to be - but it's fun - and I know I'll get there eventually. Another great video. Love this channel.
Here's an example on this subject: Clients of mine send me a mixed song. I asked why I hadn't been asked to mix it? They replied, "Because this other guy has a Grammy." OK...I get it. Turns out that they didn't really like the mix. Now, that certainly does not mean that I'm a better mix engineer than the other guy (I don't have a Grammy), it's just a good representative case of your point.
I haven’t done a video on it. To be honest I don’t use it as much as I should, there’s nothing I can’t do with a mouse but probably takes longer with the x touch. At most the navigation wheel is great while tracking haha It is fun, but I could easily live without it

Keep going! It takes a lot of trial and error along the way!

great advice, mate!

🎧🎼🥁🎸🎹the mix is a crafty craft and not to get bogged down in it to much! Ear fatigue was my early problem, spending too many hours
That can definitely cause you to make mistakes, spending too long and losing perspective!
Thanks sir really appreciate.
You’re welcome!
This is so informative. Thanks for sharing
You’re welcome! Always a good reminder that the production is not everything!
Wondering how you use the behringer x touch...I see it's always on your desk...have you done a video on by chance?

love all the videos ..keep up all the good work@@spinlightstudios
Amazing advice! Out of curiosity, How many years did it take you to adapt that workflow/mentality?
Hmm I’m not sure really! I think it was a slow realization over a few years of recording and mixing tunes that it sort of clicked with me
it's true... lol only good music exist :D
