Cambodian people are so nice and friendly. As an American, I've never felt unsafe there and have been half a dozen times. From what I perceive, Cambodians love America and Americans and even their ATM's give out USD and not KHR.

Yes, Hun Sen was a major Khmer Rouge officer during the genocide before turning to the Vietnamese. The CCP has been Cambodia ‘friendly’ for a long time, notably going back to the 1970's supporting the genocidal Khmer Rouge movement lead by Pol Pot, which annihilated the gov. in a brutal Red Guard 'peasant' revolution. Unfortunately, this was precipitated by the illegal destabilizing saturation bombing of northern Cambodia by US forces in a criminal plan pushed by Nixon and Kissinger. Instead of ending the Vietnam disaster, they expanded for electoral advancement, which perpetuated the war and enabled the Khmer Rouge take over. At this point, Cambodia has been decimated by corrupting PRC investments including from massive criminal networks. It has created impactful devastation of their ecology in hydrology and de-forestation.

Cambodia is reacting to the pressure that being exerted by the west. They make most money by exporting to the west, but have policies that favor china. The EU is cramping down on Cambodia on their exports and Trump is becoming the next president. So they feel they need to show the friendly face, whether it is a genuine smile is another story.

When people went to the West Point Military Academy in the US, they always have a responsibility to protect each other, that is the philosophy of the academy. Our current Prime Minister was there and we are sure he has many friends from the academy, who are now serving in the US Army. Let me clear about Cambodia current situation now. Cambodia current Primer Ministers (PM Father and Son) are Vietnam agents who dress up as Cambodia, but both work for Vietnam interest. The border between Vietnam and Cambodia has no Cambodia soldier to protect it. Cambodia has only former Khmer Rouge soldiers to guard Thai border, but not Vietnam border. Yes, Hun Sen was a major Khmer Rouge officer during the genocide before turning to the Vietnamese. The CCP has been Cambodia ‘friendly’ for a long time, notably going back to the 1970's supporting the genocidal Khmer Rouge movement lead by Pol Pot, which annihilated the gov. in a brutal Red Guard 'peasant' revolution. Unfortunately, this was precipitated by the illegal destabilizing saturation bombing of northern Cambodia by US forces in a criminal plan pushed by Nixon and Kissinger. Instead of ending the Vietnam disaster, they expanded for electoral advancement, which perpetuated the war and enabled the Khmer Rouge take over. At this point, Cambodia has been decimated by corrupting PRC investments including from massive criminal networks. It has created impactful devastation of their ecology in hydrology and de-forestation.

I think it's great we visited Cambodia after all we have to reconcile for the past of the Vietnam War. All the Indochina countries fell in 1975 ending the war. Not just Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam to heal the past of the war 50 years back.
