    Oh man this demo was spot on!! I’ve got Lollar imperials in my 335 and it sounds just like these.. I like their tone, but don’t love them in the 335, about to change mine out for something a little hotter and fatter sounding... really liked you demo of the Wizz pickups and the Holms in this guitar!!! But not the price 😳

      🤷‍♂️ People, including me, want to see how the top tier PAF's sound in comparison to eachother. I bought or secured these all myself, there's plenty I would have liked to include but couldn't for various reasons. Really these tests are me doing what I'd be doing regardless of a youtube channel or not, I was trying to find the right set for my guitar and I wasn't interested in buying a budget pickup to put in an expensive high end guitar. Ymmv 🙂

    The tones on these sound great! I’m super torn about sticking a set of these in my Gibson SG Standard Maestro Vibrola. I’m not in love with the stock 61’s, and these sound excellent but it’s hard justifying another $300+ for pickups on a 2k guitar. Plus I can’t try them first 😞

    • @YeatzeeGuitar
      @YeatzeeGuitar  2 роки тому

      The great thing is you can probably sell your current set of pickups and recoup at least a chunk of that investment. If you're not happy with the stock pickups you'll play the guitar less and the 2k guitar becomes more or less worthless. My 2 cents :)

      @@YeatzeeGuitar that’s a fair point. I’ve never swapped pickups before in a guitar, so i forget it’s an option!
      They’re nice pickups so I’m sure someone would like them, they’re just weird in the midrange for my taste, but maybe that’s more an SG thing.

    Do you find the lollars to be less harsh than Gibson pickups? I have two non gibson guitars and I realized they are not as harsh as all my Gibson’s . The funny part is they are both brighter and clearer sounding than all my Gibson’s too.
    But what confused me was being brighter and also WAY less harsh. Playing loudly with distortion is just significantly more pleasant and so I’m wondering if the lollars do this too.
    I also wonder why my Gibson’s sound so brash and lack clarity all in one lol

    • @YeatzeeGuitar
      @YeatzeeGuitar  10 місяців тому

      I've honestly never heard anyone describe Gibsons as harsh sounding! I felt like the lollar low winds did get harsh at times, the stock MHS pickups were much warmer and no where near harsh imo

    I keep coming back to these as a more affordable, yet still killer set of PAF style pups, as opposed to the more expensive offerings from ThroBak and ReWind etc. But I'm questioning whether or not that low wind neck PU is just a little too weak, giving it more, almost too much top end. I wonder if a regular Lollar Imperial in the Neck and then a low wind in the bridge would be the perfect match?

    Would you say the set is well balanced? I have an ‘87 Es-335 with its original pickups and I find the neck to be muddy and the bridge to be harsh and aggressive: when I set my amp to have a nice throaty for the nick pickup, the bridge is very ice-picky. Conversely, when I set the amp for a nice tone for the bridge, the neck pickup is very muddy.

    • @YeatzeeGuitar
      @YeatzeeGuitar  3 роки тому

      Yes I would. However have you tried setting the tone for the neck but rolling back the bridge tone control to like 5 or so? That sometimes works well
