Never knew they were this easy to make! It's my favorite candy ever! I'm definitely making it tomorrow! I think I'll have to double the recipe...or triple it. 🤭
Awesome... my family loves these and we can only get them when our family in Puerto Rico sends them. I'm gonna try to make some for Christmas. Thanks alot for making this video :)
Always one of my favorite candies, Don’t find them often since moving from NY. Can’t wait to try this recipe. Thanks. (Do you know how to make Pilones?)
My favorite too! 😋😋 And yes, hard to find good ones outside of Puerto Rico, but luckily I think they are pretty easy to make. As for the Pilones, no, I've never made them before 😌 And those are also tricky to find outside of the island... I'll let you know if I ever come across a recipe though! 😃
Wow, thanks for sharing. My wife went to Puerto Rico this week and I told her to get me a few. She could not find them Isla Verde Ave. She found a store inside the airport by the name Dulzura Sesame Seed Snacks. Let me tell you, it's not the same as I remember them. I am going to try this this week
Fabulous!!! Thank you so much. I usually order them through Amazon when I am craving them but it is expensive to just get a few pieces. I am going to try to make them myself. 💕
I buy my ajonjolí(sesame sed) at an oriental store. I comes already toasted. Oriental use sesame sed a lot in their cooking and is sheper. When your candie is still hot mark it, don’t cut it all the way. When it cool off brake it. It will be easy.
Using a glass or very lightly oiled (small) rolling pin can get the size and depth of candy desired. Also, misting the solid candy on the lines where it will be cut, as well as using a very sharp, serrated clean knife will allow cutting, not breaking or hacking. Many cultures have a nearly-identical candy. Greek and other Middle Eastern countries come immediately to mind.
I'm half white and half puerto Rican both of my parents are puerto Rican but my grandma is white on my mom's side 😂 me and my siblings look white I'm really just a fake I understand some words but can't speak it 😓 but my mom said she loves these and I want to surprise her by making it they look good too ❤
That's great that you want to make these for your mom! 😍😍 And as for your identity, don't let people's perceptions get in the way of connecting with your roots. I'm the whitest-looking guy you'll meet but having been born and raised on the island, I can't help but identify with it's rich history and culture (and amazing culinary traditions!). So in the end, it's more about you than it is about what people think of you.
I never been to the island of Puerto Rico my dad was from San Juan but I was raised by Puerto Ricans I speak Spanish but I don't read or write in Spanish my daughter is solidsnakesister16 I love my Puerto Rican food ❤️❤️
I haven't tried it with toasted seeds, but think it should work just fine like you suggest (just skipping to the syrup step). Good luck! Let us know how it turns out! 😃
@@JeffandJosPuertoRicanKitchen Termine d hacerlo y QUE RICOOOOOOOOO!!! Lo hice con el ajonjoli tostado , mañana lo vuelvo hacer 😁 porque ya casi ni queda. Gracias!

Bro, muchas gracias!
That easy!?!?! No way!!!
Right!! Super easy!! Glad you enjoyed it!
Love this 🇵🇷
Thanks!
Simple and sweet! Very nice!
Thanks!
So, I find that cutting it before it cools completely insures equal pieces

Do you have a recipe for those red paletas that have anjoli in them?
We don’t have that one
You should score it before it cools and it won't be brittle
Thanks for the tip! We will give it a try next time we do this recipe.

It's beautiful how that Puerto Rican food can bring us all together! 🤗😄
My favorite candy although I thought it would be made with molasses and not honey.
Hi!! Probably way back they would use molasses.
you can actually cut it before it cools, and then it doesnt matter that it gets brittle.
My seeds are already toasted, does it make a difference? Can I just go to the next step in making the syrup ?

you need to shape cut while is still warm.
That’s a great idea! Will give it a try!
