Cool, I love this snappy jump :D And I don't know, but I feel like the 5 minutes for the camera stuff were worth it, adds a bit more style to the game ^^
Woah! what a small world , in the video you show footage of you standing next to Miguel from titled game jam. We are good friends and I use to work with him! Cool stuff , always wanted to make it out to their Game Jams but never have. Definitely gonna try the 1 hour challenge.
This is fun. I love watching people create these. But I cant help to think that it should be a 2 hour challenge instead of 1 hour. 2 hours still short enough that you can cram it in some spare time, and is long enough that you can do a little more than the basics movement and actually create a little game. All the videos that I've watched with a 1 hour challenge. All they make is a lil guy move around and jump on platforms.
I came to your channel because I wanted to do the rock smacker tutorial! By chance I saw this video with my assets! :) Thank you very much for using it and sharing it with the world. You used it perfectly.
Great video! Just a tip: The camera is much easier to control using the tween behavior instead of lerp (the old c2 technique when there was no official tween plugin) For camera counter weights I tend to use invisble sprites and control their width, and tracking the camera to some image point of it (specially if the game is a shooter). You could even go fancier and include a line of sight behavior to cast rays (to always detect wheres the nearest wall and such)
Nice! Definitely seems like a good challenge! I agree, it is kind of cool to look back and see what you spent the most/least time on. Sometimes the time pressure messes with your brain a bit, but it happens :D I think the asset pack was a great pick, and getting a few good levels in is impressive. Great Job!
An hour! Lol.. Thats the time it takes me to make my coffee, get my bearings, scratch myself and check some e-mails. I have spent 3 weeks making a lunar lander in Construct 3 and got only a few game mechanics down to show for it. Nice video. Cheers.
I have never seen a UA-camr your production quality making games in Construct, so this is pretty inspiring to see, since there isn't much representation for that engine in the community. :)
Would you ever considering releasing the footage of the entire hour to like an unlisted video where there is a link in the description? No commentary or anything, just for learning ;)
Lerp will linearly (at a constant rate) go between (interpolate) 2 values. Its basically "if i am x% between these 2 values, and the rate of change between these 2 values is constant, what value am I?"
When click & play came out i had it running on my celeron powered windows pc. After that Multi media fusion. Then after a long stop from game building i found construct 2. Holy cow i was amazed at how far "Visual scripting" had come. Have been using construct 2 ever since and after al these years using it i know it inside out. You will have a blast!!! I can tell you that. Construct 3 is also great, just know that to this day third party construct 2 plugins are still not ported yet. (Atleast a lot of them are not) So depending on what you want, you might be better of going for C2. Just a heads up ;-)
devs, you can't even make a good game in 4 years, why do you always do these things? I mean, I really like game jams, and challenges about doing a game in a short time but, at least 2 weeks, in least than that, you just will do things worse than counter strike
That "key before door" thing is a golden rule of game design I've seen a lot of people overlook. It was fun watching you learn it in real time.
Cool, I love this snappy jump :D
And I don't know, but I feel like the 5 minutes for the camera stuff were worth it, adds a bit more style to the game ^^
When you get your first comment in 9 months
Maybe you can make more content to this game in this style, like: "Add enemies in an hour"
Interesting idea. Thanks
lol make a game every hour for a whole day lol
That sounds exhausting.
@@Vimlark Definitley, worth it for the ridiculous experience, possibly
RobTFilms possibly
And put them in a game of minigames

That's awesome! Miguel is a great guy. Hopefully when the world is normal again I'll see you at one of the jams.
petition to make vimlark make a game in 30 minutes

LOVED the video!
It makes me really want to try this challenge out!
Also getting super close to 10k, let's make this happen everybody 💪
Sick result! Also didn't know about construct before this video, thanks!
Construct is great

I love to see fellow constructers on UA-cam! Relatable, and I might learn something new!

Interesting! I may need to give this challenge a go!
Great work!
good timing, think tomorrow C3 will be free during the ludomdare, will try it out :D

My whole channel is dedicated to construct... it's new so still growing.
This is an awesome video!
Been having a lot of issues with animations causing collision issues, never thought to keep the collision box separate from the art… duh. Thanks!
Nice small game, can't what for the new video. GL
The last level loop turned this into a dystopian thriller real quickly
Lucky guy. He knows how to code and manage every single details. He is smart. I wish I could make an exciting game.
In construct it is quite easy. I have some tutorials that you may find useful 👍❤

trying to make a game in an hour is like trying to build an entire building in a day
Lerp will linearly (at a constant rate) go between (interpolate) 2 values. Its basically "if i am x% between these 2 values, and the rate of change between these 2 values is constant, what value am I?"
I personally am a fan of 2D platformers, and this game is no exception. It's actually kind of cute!
Awesome video really enjoyed it and I agree I hour sounds like a decent amount of time but it sneaks up on you 😂😁
Right?!
Did is see a Dani video? Damn that's THICC!
I like how Dani appears after he search 1 hour game making challenge
Not bad, not bad at all! Which audio files did you use?
It's just called RetroPlatmormerSFXPack
How do you set animations and player inputs ? I cant make my player to kick or punch cause animations doesn't work correctly
I'll try to do the same challenge!
Good luck!
0:47 the amount of Dani videos is concerning
Let's see how this goes...
have you tried using bfxr for sound effects?
These videos are awesome
❤👍
Fun video!
author, thank you for your lessons, and on Godot Engine do you also make games in an hour? can I look at them in the future?
How the hell is there a collins key vid in the search
I loved that he search some other videos of this video is Dani's vid 😆
0:08 somebody tell me the name of this game please
How long would it take to make those graphics in addition to the game itself?
0:47 lots o of Dani videos
Omg one hour...youre crazy....
I wanna try now lol
Me too haha
what game software do you use?
what you use to make a games?
What is this engine you use to build
dani did this
you great! won gob!
Tip: if you upscale your vids to 1440p, its much less compressed
“How hard an it be” oh boy
Anyone can make a game in an hour. Making a game in 2 years, that's what is hard.

So true. I plan to do this challenge on my channel soon.
I waste hours on the smallest things.
Make one in 10 min
Challenge accepted.

Still better than Yandere Simulator
"how hard can it be?" that's what she said
I never been so early :)
It takes me one hour to choose a name for the game :/
🤣me too. Plus I keep going over the sprites for ages trying to perfect them.
