    I was thinking of one day moving to Adelaide but now I’m thinking somewhere in Queensland

      Haha. Queensland is great as long as you don’t mind a hot summer.

    great place - thanks for sharing!
    we spend a lot of time in the area and i’ve done upper portals numerous times and also been to lower portals but never in-between (my next adventure).
    is this barney junction, or further up stream?
    also, to get there from cleared ridge did you just follow the ridge line trail down to the bluff at the start of the UP and then follow the creek down, or is there a trail that forks off this at some point?

      Thanks! It’s a great area of Barney. That spot is at the Barney waterfall, which is about 1km downstream of Barney junction. It’s closer to lower portals. If heading from Clear Ridge you can stick to the fire trails / footpads on top of the ridge. It’s easy walking downstream from the junction. I hope that helps.

      thanks mate, so just checking I have this right - you can actually follow the ridge trail from cleared ridge to get you all way to BJ? I've followed this trail to the Upper Portals before , however have never seen or heard that the ridge trail will actually get you all the way to BJ without having to travel down mt barney creek from the UP.

      That is correct, but it’s quicker if you skip upper portals and don’t descend to Yamara creek. Follow the higher fire trail and footpads along the ridge until you descend down to BJ. Otherwise there is a rough foot pad heading up the ridge, near Upper Portals (at the top of the trail that skips the gorge).

      Cheers man, appreciate it! Hope you are doing well. I'll be in TAS next month - doing the SCT and Tyndalls (prior to it being spoilt with huts) 👍

      @@AaronGrayOutdoors oh...when are the huts going in? is that on both sCT and Tyndalls?

    • @AaronGrayOutdoors
      @AaronGrayOutdoors  2 роки тому

      @@onmusiccom just the Tyndalls as far as I am aware. Not sure on the timeframe however. I hope the SCT never gets huts. SW Tasmania should always remain wilderness!

    Is it easy to find the rock pools

    • @AaronGrayOutdoors
      @AaronGrayOutdoors  11 місяців тому +1

      Yep, they are just above the waterfall. Only runs after good rainfall though.

    how do I get to here? from Yamahra campsite??

    • @AaronGrayOutdoors
      @AaronGrayOutdoors  2 роки тому

      It’s about half way between upper portals and lower portals, so either by following the creek and/or the rough tracks from either direction. The waterfall is dry most of the year though and only runs after significant rainfall.

    Looks awesome, what camp ground did you set up at?

    • @AaronGrayOutdoors
      @AaronGrayOutdoors  2 роки тому

      Thanks Nicki. It's not an official campsite. We didn't make it to the original campsite that we had booked so we had to make a plan B mid-hike and this was the best option.
