I can't imagine how anyone could hate you guys. You're all good guys. But all successful people on UA-cam have haters. Be proud that you have enough people watching that a few don't like you for whatever silly reason. You'll never get any hate from me.
It may have been rough out there today, but it's still 1000% better than sitting in an office and all you have to look forward to is going home in rush hour traffic.
Thank you Matt for mentioning CMR all of you influencers should get together and do a benefit of some type for him,Sarah and the boys praying for your vision as well
Thanks Matt for giving CMR some good vibes - I know you, Brant, and Brad still find him to be a dear friend even though you moved on business wise - He is a great guy and we all hope for a good outcome for him . Again- Thanks
Any video fishing is a good video…. I was recently stricken by a motor neuron disease so I haven’t even left home since April…. So I’m kinda living vicariously through the videos!!!! Big catches or not, keep posting!!!! Thanks
I didn't hear any of that but I wasn't looking for it. But it's sad to hear. I don't know what was said but it's silly to stir up drama. All energy people have for the subject should be directed towards CMR getting better.
I wouldn't call it anger...I'd call it confusion over why there was a split and then why no one acknowledged it. These guys want us to watch their videos everyday but we're not allowed to ask questions why they kicked a guy outta the club??
I fish east coast of the Carolinas. Beach replinishment (sand dredging onto the beach) definitely affects our bite here. There will be no sand fleas after replenishment and fewer fish. Size limit I would love to see and support. Thanks for the awesome job that you do and prayers for you all.
We're still having great fishing up north here for striped bass and tautog is just starting. You have a really great channel. Bless you and your family and all the new store family.
Hope you can get some more of your vision back in that right eye. As for Ron, my prayers are with him, it sucks, but been watching the PYT for updates on him. I do pray he is doing well. When he gets out, it would be nice for all of you get back and do some fishing together once in awhile.
Matt...If you were in North Carolina I would just have three words, "Follow the money." The commercial fishing lobby controls the state legislature and as a result recreational fishermen have a two week flounder season, practically no striper season, and speckled trout being limited more and more. But the commercial harvest is almost unlimited. Yet economically, the recreational fishing community provides almost 100 times the economic benefit!
I am glad to see yall are still friends and care what happens to each other. On a norther note even if you ain't catching fish every video we still like to see it. It lets us know that sometimes they just ain"t going to bit.
The struggle is real. I have been in similar situations while fishing. With all that is going on in the world, even a not too productive day is a God sent! You stay Bummy!❤
I agree. I have fished St. George Island, FL for going on 30 years now. For years, whiting was by far the main catch in the surf. Recently (maybe the past 3-4 years), the numbers have drastically dwindled. To where, I'll only catch a 12"+ whiting a handful of times per year? I do think either a bag limit or size limit (or both) would be helpful to the population in that area of FL. Apparently, where you are in Alabama as well.
Our fishery up here in Ocean City Maryland has been odd this year too. It wasn't a horrible year, but species were defintely showing up later than usual or not at all.
Prayers for full restoration and healing for both you and Ron. Love the channel and all the content. Blessings from the South Texas front here here in the Gulf Coast. Be blessed brutha.
Great seeing the love and respect between you and the couple walking by, can’t wait for an opportunity to do some beach fishing as well. Learning a lot. Thanks, it’s appreciated. God Bless 🙏🏼
Thank you for putting the word out about CMR. Even though you boys don’t wrong together, I’m sure you’re still friends. I enjoy each and everyone of your channels. Stay blessed😊
matt im glad to see that your human also and have them rough days on the water also. please keep us northeners posted on the progress of the Gulf State pier this winter. hope things are going well with the new store and cant wait to get back down in the spring
Brudda, stay steady, strong and keep on doing your thing. I'll keep watching because we all know that fishing isn't always about success and looking like everyday is a good day on the water. We all have these days....all of us! Looking forward to the next video and hoping things take a turn for the better. Much love from Va. Billy
Dude I thought it was only me that couldn’t find the same whiting bite that I have the past few years. Glad someone said it out loud haha prayers for CMR man that’s awful news. Great video dude!
Was just down there again and had great success implementing many of the your techniques I learned from your channel. Gulf shores beach fishing. Imitation sand flea with green fish bites was on fire. Whiting , one big red and multiple 18-22 “ reds on this combo. Can’t wait to return and chase other species . Love your channel.
Nice video, Matt! I hope there is a solution for your eye. That can be frustrating. Fishing is just a hit and miss kind of thing. I think everyone understands that. It's safe to say you hit a lot more than you miss. Thanks for the video!
Up here in DelMarVa I find that when the whiting fishing is tough I make long casts on top of or over the outer bar. Strips of spot are the preferred bait. They've been deep, but plentiful all year up here.
Matthew, get on your kayak, the reds and trout are in the creeks! Bottom rig with live or fresh dead shrimp are the ticket! I appreciate all you do brother, keep your chin up.
Thats why its called fishing and not catching lol. I only get to fish fresh water right now so I know about the small struggle bus lol. Prayers and much love from Texas
We all are praying for Ron. Prayer works and no matter what live throws at us. God is still on the throne, and he still has our life in the palm of his hand. Glad you guys are still friends.
On the east coast of Florida we have issues with beach erosion and replenishment which kills habitat and forage. This in turn starves out the remaining fisheries. It takes a year to recover but the touristo’s still keep coming and fishing. It’s a bad cycle that is easy to correct. The solution is no fishing recovery zones. Another idea would be more fishing piers to compensate for the closures.
Was using shrimp on a pompano rig yesterday and caught a drum.. Hoping to stop by beach bums tomorrow. Hoping the fishing picks up this week.. Had some hard hits this evening but never could get anything on the lines. Was using shrimp and squid.
Thanks for not forgetting Ron. I can understand that Ron went a different route than y’all. I feel all of y’all have been friends for quite awhile. Other than that the this was a good video. Keep up the good work
I'm over in Santa Rosa Beach, FL and have noticed the fishing this year has been a little weird and not all that great. Hopefully next season will be better.
any day fishing is a good day... I heard about CM Ron from Daniel (arms family homestead) been keeping him in my prayers.. and you now.. I didn't realize you were still having trouble with it.. keep on fishin!!! lol
Matt, in my 78 years of life's expertise at least you didn't get skunked. Any day on the beach is a better than watching TV at home. Big Hi to the family.
Great video regulations are important and you may be right whiting probably should be added Funny here keep in mind what you said suggesting that whiting should be added to a regulations list and just a few moments later saying that the one you caught you will use it for bait.. What!!! throw them back if the bite is weak or maybe use a stringer many times that keeps them alive for a last minute release. I don't know You can come up with something better, I've seen your videos so I know that usually you are good at catching and releasing
I've noticed the issue for at least three years. It wasn't long ago that I could catch a dozen keeper whiting before noon, clean them and have a great fresh seafood lunch for my family. I would appreciate a fisheries biologist's thoughts, if there is such a person who works with inshore species. I will say this. Gillnetters aka commercial fishermen who work so close to the Alabama beaches that I could almost cast to them, cannot be helping. I don't know if they are to blame but I've watched them pretty closely and I have never no not once seen them throw back anything they haul in.
Great video, come on down to the Emerald Coast, Narvarre, Okaloosa, they have been catching nice stud Whiting's 🎣 over here lately, water 🌊 pretty clear,,, Also we're praying 🙏, for Ron and his family,,, Stay Safe God Bless,,,
Here in Oz, frozen prawns (shrimp - what we call shrimp, you call prawns lol) are probably THE most commonly used bait in the country, for both fresh and salt water fishing. The only way here to get live prawns is to catch your own. Whiting (just like the ones you get), bream (similar to your porgy) and flathead (not the catfish, but a true flatfish that looks like an elongated flounder that grows to about 4 feet long) are the common targets.
That's why they call it fishing, not catching. If you don't have a few bad days, it's hard to appreciate the good ones. Prayers for camera man Ron. Also hope your eye gets better.
Just a suggestion maybe you ,Jack and Brad maybe could go down and spend a day fishing with his kids and make a couple vids for his channel. I know all of you are busy with business and life but I think that would be so cool of you. Or Courtney and the PYT doing some fishing maybe a one v one.
I was out last year 3rd week of Oct and slayed whiting and Pompano. We rented the same house same week this year and all I caught the entire week was hard heads and 3 or 4.... 6-7 inch whiting. Hard heads were awful this year.
Always wondered about Cameraman Ron's sudden departure from all of your posts. Will pray for a miraculous recovery for him & family. Do not do Facebook. Thx Matt for encouraging others to pray..
No whiteing. Lol. I am reminded all those bull reds you caught the last video. Smh. Get less intense. Enjoy the weather and your great life. You are in the sweet spot.
Matt you mentioned the tough whiting catch a few times. I am in Louisiana right next to the Texas border and I have been catching more whiting this year than normal. I also caught some Pomps and Bluefish after the hurricane ran through over there. I assume they were pushed this way, but that is just a guess. Perhaps for some reason they have moved to the west?
I,m a nearshore in shore guide whiting are my go to in Winyah Bay SC,this year has been tough very few and reports were bad too.Don,t know what happen this year up here either.🤷🏼🤷🏼🤷🏼
We don’t have catfish here in the Carolinas but what we do have are pinfish… they don’t even do you the favor of getting hooked, only a bite then nothing. And sometimes fishing is just like that. Last year for me was PB whiting (also largest numbers), PB Spanish, and epic bluefish runs. This year? Much less action on the blues and whiting and one, I said 1, spanish all year (same conditions and same time of year; everyone else was catching them too). I even got skunk on a 3-day fishing trip specifically targeting the toothy critters. However, this year I also caught PB’s in pompano, red and black drum from the surf. So 🤷♂️. We can’t control what bites. The only guarantee is that if you don’t go, you definitely won’t catch anything.
Hey man, if your looking to get on some whiting. The Navarre pier has been loaded the last two days. Surf conditions have Been very calm. Fishbites on light weight Carolina rig has out produced anything else I’m seeing out here.
A few months ago Brant posted a video from a pier showing a bazillion whitings in a huge school. There were a bunch. So I wonder why you aren't catching as many. Interesting. I've seen a few caught over the summer in the Chesapeake Bay but I didn't do any proper surf fishin' so I don't know how they're doing up here. I saw small sand fleas in July on VA Beach but I didn't go back after that. There were enough for me to think that the pompano and whiting should have been there soon. Unfortunately the beach is too expensive so I moved to the inside of the bay. The redfish and trout are biting like crazy lately near my house though, so it's all good.
Visited Gulf Shores myself late last month, I was able to visit the store and shake your hand that was worth it.... But the Fishing was definitely weak we caught Pompano n whiting last year but this year one small pin fish was all in 4 trips
As someone who gets to fish saltwater 4-6 times per year, this has actually been my best year. PB flounder, PB whiting, and PB redfish. But those could be just getting lucky on the times of the year.
Maybe the water temps have something to do with it, just putting this out as a wild guess. I know fishing can be affected by anything from barometric pressure, water temps, red tides, dirty water, just so many variables. Your guess is as good as mine and most likely better. Tight Lines everyone!
I fish Navarre beach to fort Pickens. It was tough first part of year thru May then since then thru end of September I did very well caught lots of whiting but Oct was tough. Maybe it’s your location that is different. There do seem to be lots of more guys fishing but they don’t seem to know how to catch whiting they throw out further and use bigger rigs I use the Tony Faglioni Méthod with runt rods and fish close in with lighter leader and smaller hooks
I have permanent damage to my only good eye from CSR (Central Serous Retinopathy). I had similar symptoms to what you are experiencing. It's scary but the body will heal somewhat. One thing that helped me was to use eye drops. I found that my double vision was more due to dry eye than the disease. Put gel in before bed and 1 drop in each eye in the morning. Seems to help. Good luck
I believe this year has been off all over the N Gulf Coast. Possibly related to warm Gulf water (though I don't actually know). 20-30 years ago I could fill a 5-gal bucket with keeper Whiting inside of 20 minutes fishing the way you are now. In 2017 (I think), my wife and I caught > 40 fish (mostly 14-16 inch whiting) off the East End of St George Island. The last couple of years, we haven't been able to surf fush as much as we had before because of parental health issues. This year though, we have been in FL over 4 months and have caught a geand total of 6 keeper Whiting. We've gotten Reds, trout, flounder, black drum, pompano, largemouth, warmouth, hybrids, and several other species (that we actually wanted). But for some reason, the Whiting have all either been elsewhere or have gotten wise to our ways 😂
I’ve definitely noticed the whiting bite has been pitiful this year, I have a very hard time believing the population is hurting considering how often they spawn but who knows
I live in virginia beach. We are having same problem up here.I was wondering if it has anything to do with el nino.Dont really know. All you can do is keep wetting hooks. My prayers go out to Ron and his family. In the end thats what really matters
Love the content as always. From my perspective I hope that Whiting remain unregulated. As an avid angler but infrequent visitor to the Gulf coast, when I'm there I head to the beach for dinner and Whiting are the most reliable bite on the beach in my experience. And while I'd love to be selective and only take the big ones, the little ones taste just as good! I have been trying to get someone from fisheries interested in studying Whiting for years though. One thing I was able to do was to catch a bunch of whiting of all sizes and have them aged via otolith thin sections. This revealed that even a large whiting (12-14 inches) was still less than 2 years old. This is great news as it means the schools can probably recover quickly. Personally, I have noticed they have been a bit tougher to come by these last couple years but I thought it was my poor fishing skills! A well thought out systematic study of Whiting would really help answer a lot of questions about their abundance though, I suspect.
Any negative comments directed towards me, Brad, or Brant in relation to Ron will get you banned from the channel. Just a heads up.
Lonely people have to stir up hate and discontent. Forgive and pray for them too.

I just caught a 1 pound 3 ounce whiting with a live shrimp in Atlantic Beach NC yesterday. I know that’s not huge but it’s a big boy!!!
We haven't even scratched the surface with the amount of whittings in the ocean
Visited Gulf Shores myself late last month, I was able to visit the store and shake your hand that was worth it.... But the Fishing was definitely weak we caught Pompano n whiting last year but this year one small pin fish was all in 4 trips
you cant win them all, i still watch even when you dont have a good bite on. keep em coming
Good video, Matthew. I enjoy the catch & cooks. It’s great you take your wife and daughter. Prayers go out to Ron 🙏
Found the same whiting challenge on the Texas coast last month.
As someone who gets to fish saltwater 4-6 times per year, this has actually been my best year. PB flounder, PB whiting, and PB redfish. But those could be just getting lucky on the times of the year.
Man, that's how it was the first week of the tourney for me. Only saw a total of 4 whiting over 10 inches.
From me and all my slay girleies at my college we appreciate the content totally slay it, all the time love the content. rip camera man Ron❤️
You are in my spot . Not meant in a negative light.
New to your channel just subscribed. You do an awesome job on your videos. Thanks.
I love your videos. Even the ones where you struggle. Sorry to hear about your eye and scar tissue. I will be praying for it to go away for you.
I pray that Father God heals u as well as Ron with his mighty powerful merciful healing protective comforting hands in Yahusha name I pray Amen.
I caught some 15 plus inchers in the spring but fall has been tough
It’s that time of year for crabs!
They now have a limit on whiting in NC , and bluefish and of course flounder and now finger mullet
Little whiting eat good to . Lol I even carry a light 6 foot rod in the cart for when they are hugging the beach , I grew up eating catfish love em .
It's real fishing. That's how it goes!
