  • Sifu Siaw is a representative of a true master. We had a chance to train under his tutelage in Kuching, Borneo. Teaching is passed on old-school style - on his front porch. Only few students attend the class.
    Sifu is very open and speaks gold. His advices and suggestions are keepers.

    Deepest respect. It's wonderful that these arts of skill have survived outside of mainland China where they may have died out or been not passed on. These are some of the best places to seek true skills

    It is interesting that his five basics hands and its drill are similar to Tensho and Kakie found in Goju Ryu. I like the terminology and explanation he gives. I will definitely incorporate these into my training, so thanks for sharing.

      Thank you for the feedback. I also find it very similar to Goju Ryu techniques. I asked the sifu does he know more about the connection, but he couldn't give me the answer. Thank you for watching 🙏

    Master Huang Sheng Shyan was a White Crane practitioner before he met Cheng Man Ching. His White Crane influenced his Taijiquan.

    Thanks for sharing video - Is this Ming He ( crying crane ) ?

    • @creativeacrobatics
      @creativeacrobatics  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you for watching 🙏 I am not certain of Ming He, master Siaw was always referring to White crane kung fu

    • @martinpaulwatts
      @martinpaulwatts 3 роки тому +2

      @@creativeacrobatics I think this is "crying crane" or "ming he" in chinese. It is a type of white crane kung fu normally found around fuzhou area in southern china. Cool content on your channel! . Martin

      @@creativeacrobatics I don't think they refer to the "styles" in Borneo. What do they call it? I would have thought "Kuntao", but, I might have my Indonesia mixed up.

    • @creativeacrobatics
      @creativeacrobatics  3 роки тому

      @@varanid9 sifu Siaw refers to it as White Crane kung fu. He is Chinese living in Kuching, and he brought the style from China. Kuntao is a bit different martial art - closer to Silat in a way.

    Is he using reverse abdominal breathing ( contracting the Dantian on inhale and releasing/expanding it on exhale)? Or is he contracting on the inhale and keeping it contracted on the exhale? It looks to me like he is contracting on the inhale, but he doesn’t say what to do on the exhale. If you or anyone else can tell me what he does on exhale I would very much appreciate it. Thanks

    • @creativeacrobatics
      @creativeacrobatics  Рік тому +1

      @1mataleo1 thank you for watching the documentary. As it seems to me, the way of breathing master Siaw is using is very similar to sanchin kata in karate, I believe the origin is the same.

      That makes sense. Uechi Ryu and Goju Ryu do seem to be heavily influenced by Ming He Quan. Thanks for the response 🙏🏼
