I could have eventually accepted showrunner Lindsey's storyline about paths diverging as it happens in real life - but that's not what the writers stopped at- they made Elizabeth erase 5 seasons of a love story as a 'wrong choice' and calling it 'safe' & 'comfortable' ! BS ! Lucas was anything but safe- he challenged Elizabeth, made her go after her dreams (the show has forgotten E is a writer & author not just a school teacher ?) and helped her let go of her fears as she said in S9 herself ! Yes Lucas perhaps was destined for a larger stage but his story so far was he had already traveled the world and he finally finally found a place, a home, a community and the love of his life and a family of his own . And he lost everything he had and wanted and worked to prove himself worthy of , brutally in a matter of few minutes- just before he boarded the train; remember even the night before Elizabeth unasked offered to accompany Lucas on his campaign ! So Lindsey that's not how characters reveal themselves ? You made her a confused mess of a woman as if none of the grieving and growth had taken place over seasons 8 & 9 ! Did you perhaps pretend these seasons never happened ???
Their conversation might have happened in only a few minutes but I think it you look deeper (not even that deep really, I think the signs were fairly obvious) you could see she was struggling over the last few episodes at least. I think the suddenness of the governor race and possible move forced her hand.
@@dlandes14 yes, agree! They showed a strong and sincere love for seasons and a only a few episodes of grief/panic/confusion. It was just too much of a light switch on, then off. Reality (or intentional good writing) would have shown it more gradually. Anywho, I am done debating… it is what is. Still a heartie!
Well said it’s like we didn’t watch season 9. Did we not hear Elizabeth pledge to Lucus “ I will have to pull myself from you every morning. Just Amazing lines…
Destroyed by a new showrunner who seems to enjoy ruining a beautiful love story to recreate an ugly triangle to appease Nathan fans and give them new hope. In the process, Elizabeth looks pathetic and the show as we knew it is gone forever. I,for one, am gone with it.
My heart is shattered by the final scene. I get that Elizabeth is going through grief, but why was it necessary for her to absolutely break Lucas’s heart. It was like a Dear John letter delivered in person. I guess S8&9 never happened. So disappointed in how this was done.
I thought it was cruel and nasty. I never saw Elizabeth like that. I thought she was cracking up .... and Rosemary was mean and nasty. She had complete control of Elizabeth and their situation. I could not stand her.
Thank you Lindsay for doing your research and watching the whole series. I am so happy to see all the returns to its roots. Elizabeth ran from Nathan out of fear of losing him which only made her lose him anyway. I’m sorry for Lucas and his fans heartbreak because I know how that feels. People make the wrong choice sometimes and need to be true to themselves even if it hurts someone for awhile. I feel she is finally doing what she was afraid to do.
If it was really about the fans, then Elizabeth's character wouldn't be so wishy washy. She was in love with Lucas. He wasn't the safe choice. She picked him as her lifetime. Chris McNally portrays Lucas so perfectly! ❤
Why didn’t you have her choose Nathan at the end of season 8? Why drag Lucas along for a letdown in the end? Elizabeth should’ve just turned them both down and got over her grief instead of messing with everybody’s emotions. I’m disappointed
Because a different showrunner took over in Season 8 and messed everything up. Lindsay came in this season and fixed it. You can see interwoven in the whole season little bits that call back to the first showrunner. She’s done an incredible job.
@@marias9288 Sorry, but for me (and a lot of people on X) you can’t fix season 8 in season 10 because everyone accepted what happened in season 8. You could have still made Lucas a hero by saving the town with out the heartbreak.
@@marias9288 Lindsay is the showrunner who ruin the show. The main character now has no integrity and cannot be trusted. The explanations they offered for her flip flop make no sense. And Lucas has become more likeable than Elizabeth. Very bad vision by Lindsay.
@@lucyrosinina5505 and they made Nathan out to be a jerk for continuing to pursuing Elizabeth and be friends with Lucas. If that is where this is going, I hope you wait and not rush them becoming a couple. Not a good look ☹️🤨
@@marias9288 No seasons 1 to 9 were great. Its season 10 that is messed up and makes no sense. They cannot undo the great live story no matter how much they try. Elizabeth and Nathan will be a joke.
Never been so disappointed in an ending to a beautiful storyline for a couple in my life. Elizabeth cannot be trusted with her heart or any man can trust her heart now. It is like seasons 8 and 9 never existed!
Thank you Edify films for these interviews! Thank you Lindsay Sturman for this incredible season. I love all the details sown throughout the season, I love the respect and knowledge of the characters, this season really has the atmosphere of Hope Valley. When a showrunner takes the trouble to watch the show, it makes a real difference!
I can’t see that season 10 made any sense. I don’t think the show runner viewed previous seasons if she did she was in lala land. Because it was not consistent what had happened in previous seasons. I’ve lost respect for Elizabeth. Also have lost respect for Nathan. He’s untrustworthy, he lied, withheld information, jumps from relationships, left Allie with Opals family, never corrected her bad behaviors and always depended on Elizabeth to make he and Allie happy. He’s never really done anything for Elizabeth’s happiness oh wait the placard for the library and a bouquet of flowers.
Just have to put l/e together 😢💔 again you have a wonderful show but don't ruin it now after these years Breaks my heart 😢. They have soo much chemistry and need their Happy Ever After..please don't 💔 ruin the show after these years . If you do this your years on tv will be shorten cause people want some thing good out of life cause of all trouble in our real life. Please don't 🙏 break our hearts 💔
OMG! My heart literally dropped to the ground and I cried and cried at the end of Episode 11. I am still crying and am decimated! This CAN'T be the end of LucaBeth!!! We need a new showrunner! This new one has ruined Season 10!
How many times we supposed to see Elizabeth and you do this tender scenes with Elizabeth finding her heart. No! This season was forever ruined. Goodbye!
Love this! I really started to respect Lucas last season so, even though I thought he was wrong for Elizabeth, I wanted him to succeed. This hero’s story is really perfect and gives him a gracious rebound following the break-up. Well done!
I totally disagree with the direction Lindsay took with Lucas. Lucas continually said he wanted a quiet family life over and over in S 6 - 9 as he treasured that kind of life over what he grew up with. Lucas was totally happy with the life he was creating with Elizabeth and his buddy, LJ. Seasons 6 through 9 showed the beautiful romance between Lucas and Elizabeth and the chemistry between them was totally off the charts until about E5 of this season. For me, breaking up LucaBeth takes all the heart and magic out of the show and I will no longer watch. As a dedicated LucaBeth fan, I can speak for all of us that if you wanted Nathan and Elizabeth together, we wish you had done it in the S8 finale. Giving us this amazing beautiful romance between Lucas and Elizabeth only to yank it away from us weeks away from their wedding was a cruel move.
The one thing I started noticing more and more often was that Lucas was constantly having to compromise on things for Elizabeth with very little in return from her. To me, that showed that they weren't really on the same page. Yes they had a nice romance for a while but when it really comes down to the "deep stuff", the stuff that matters over the long term, I just don't think they were in that same place. I've always thought Lucas was destined for something bigger than HV. That doesn't mean I'm not thankful for what he did for hope valley over the years. And I also don't know that her and Nathan necessarily get together now. If they do I hope they go slow. I don't think it would be a great look for her or the show to just have her go and immediately run into his arms. If they do get together, I think they will have great romance together too, it'll just look different. It probably will be camping, fishing, picnics with the kids instead of candlelit dinners. That honestly appeals more to me, but I respect that it may not be others "cup of tea."
I think this writing was incredible. I just appreciate how careful Lucas character was handled. When Nathan was let down in season 8 he was just dropped and there was no lead in for a new story for him… just a season of heart break and sadness. Lucas is obviously a man who is bound for bigger things… he was able to find his groundedness in hope valley and now from that foundation he can confidently move forward as a hero to save all the towns. It’s quite incredible. They have different paths… Elizabeth doesn’t want to move up a hill much less go to union city. I think the writing took so much care to make sure these main characters had a path that was perfect for THEM. I love Lucas’s story line. I know not seeing them together will be really hard but this was good writing and beautiful story telling. (Other shows where there were two great options for a character for love and they pick ‘home’ are the notebook and sweet home alabama’. This is a beautiful arc.
I agree about them giving Lucas a good storyline while they just left Nathan hanging. The writing this season is just incredible!! I really feel like we’ve gone back to the original intentions of the show.
A good storyline? Maybe something for him to do, but no love. He was practically left at the altar by the love of his life on his way to save the town SHE loves more than him, after she told him to do it. And he just accepted it, after years of loving each other? It was cruel and the opposite of what these characters would have done in any season except this one.
There was a lead in for Nathan and Faith when she was bandaging his hand. Nathan and Faith had a little spunk. I thought after a time (both dealing with lost love) their story would open a cute but romantic relationship for these two.
Thank you for sharing this with all the Hearties! I am looking forward to seeing where the characters land next week. Also looking forward to what’s to come in S11! It’s bound to be amazing ❤
Teams and triangle aside, because this story is growing outside of that. Sometimes the only way out is through. I have liked Lucas the most the last couple of episodes. Not because he and Elizabeth aren't together anymore, because him doing large scale great things seems more like his character. Up to that point, he kind of seemed like all he could do was dote on Elizabeth. Not that thats bad, but it was all dote and no struggle, no talking through real problems, but ignoring or avoiding them. Even the episode wither her aunt, it was all about making Elizabeth happy, not about actually talking about the offer at hand. As for Elizabeth and Nathan, we have yet to see if they will even be together. I have always thought it was an inconsistency in the story because he made her a plaque that says "always do what you're afraid to do." And it was a very meaningful scene, and then the following season, she says she can't be with him because she's too afraid. It always felt like that was unresolved. So even if they don't end up together, they at least finally had her realize that she made her choice in season 8 out of fear.
Exactly! He was always compromising for her which to some extent, compromise is important in a relationship but when it happens for literally everything and it's one sided to me it shows they were never on the same page, at least when it came to the "deep" important stuff. Their relationship always seemed a little superficial to me with very little struggle or strife.
@@juliewindsor9354 they had several things they could have talked through, but it was Lucas seeing Elizabeth was uncomfortable and appeasing her to calm her fears rather than face them and work through them. But also, it is just a show. We live vicariously through the characters, so when something is handled in a way we don't like, it's hard to not feel like it's a personal affront. I'm not saying that's what you are doing, rather, that's what the fan base at large does, which is why we all react so strongly. But if we take a step back and look it, there is still a beautiful story that is being told.
This is very insightful. This has been a very good season. I feel like we have gotten back to the heart of the show. Thankyou to tptb. Thankyou for sharing this and look forward the the dvd set.
Great American Family channel has some great movies you can watch. Also HBO's The Gilded Age is starting up in a couple of weeks and is an amazing show.
I don't know how you can say it was beautiful. Elizabeth acted like she was drugged or Rosemary 's dummy. She only said what Rosemary told her to say. She was mean spirited. Not the woman who ran after this man because she thought he left her. I was ashamed for her!!!
Agree with you ,she just became a very different person this season. It was Rosemary who put the thought in E’s mind that Lucas was the safe choice. To me this season was terrible writing. The only thing I liked this season was Henry’s story line.I have to say that was beautiful. And Elizabeth aside Lucas is very brave saving the town,
Thank you so much for a wonderful interview, it really helped me and my family understand why the storyline took that twist. We are so looking forward to Season 11.🥰
Lucas has grown so much as a beloved character within Hope valley since he first came on the show. It's interesting to think that part of that journey may have been influenced by Elilzabeth. It seems they both needed each other to grow in the ways needed. I loved the comment by Pascal that the show is "when calls the heart" and sometimes that means doing things that are more heartbreaking, but still the right thing to do. I have loved the journey on this season so far! The breakup of the Lucas-Elizabeth relationship was handled so tenderly and done so well by both actors. Love the comedy and cute scenes sprinkled throughout each show as well. Thanks for doing this aftershow interviews!
I never saw what Lindsay is talking about! Elizabeth took off her ring, she pledged her heart to Lucas. This is just sloppy and a mess. Heartbroken over this turn of events. So S8E12 & all of S9 was a big lie?! Elizabeth's character is tarnished. Jack's been dead 5 years. So I guess Lucas will toss his handsome watch engraved with "Our Time Has Come". Can't Lucas be a hero and have the woman he patiently waited for?!
I get it, that yes, people change and grow (Lucas), and Elizabeth wants the small town life and doesn't want to hold him back. But they did not need to discredit their love, having Elizabeth say she picked him as safe (Rosemary said it, but she agreed). And saying that she didn't follow her heart. That really makes it feel like the beautiful moments and love story they shared was all a lie! Like she never really felt it with her heart. So gut wrenching to hear, so not needed! I enjoyed their love story more than ANY in any other Hallmark movie or show, and they made it seem like Elizabeth never really was fully in love. Heartbreaking.
You need to fix this. It was a big mistake! We all want to see Lucas and Elizebeth together. Nathan was over long ago. This makes no sense and i beg you to fix it!
Oh my! I love how enthusiastic Lindsay is about these characters and their stories. Her enthusiasm jumps off the screen. Thank you, Lindsay! Thank you for returning the characters to better versions of themselves. I couldn't watch last year because every time I tried the characters didn't seem like themselves. I am so glad that Elizabeth is finally listening to her heart again.
I thought she did listen to her heart in season 8, she took all the season , we have waited so long, so I believed in her choice, a hard choice to make, but I am disappointed to see , after all this time that she was not honest😔😔
@@marlenedufour4744 I saw it differently. I saw S8 as a refusal to follow her heart because "it would hurt too much to lose you." I saw her decision as a head decision, not a heart one. As Lee told Jesse - you need to make a decision every day to love. Elizabeth tried that. But I think making that decision to love a person each day doesn't bring true happiness when there is someone else already in your heart. Elizabeth discovered that this season. We also saw all season how incompatible Elizabeth and Lucas were. Elizabeth couldn't talk about the deep issues with Lucas. Even though he offered. Their lives are taking different paths and I am excited for Lucas and the new direction.
@@melissaatwood4792I absolutely agree. There were always signs of true affection for and deep understanding between Elizabeth and Nathan. Long looks, smiles, little jokes. They shared hopes and concerns. That deep friendship transformed gradually and I loved to watch. Going back to the first scene at the log, when Nathan confessed his love and Elizabeth was too overwhelmed to properly reply, one could see in her face exactly the feelings she described now on Jack's grave. For me it's the perfect end to this story arch. As for Chris, he as actor must be thrilled. This new storyline has so many oportunities for him! And it will also be nice to see Nathan truly showing his love, if the next season allows him to. It's about time! 😊
A one in a million love story was destroyed. Could not stomach anyone but Lucas for Elizabeth. She once was a special character but no more. The writing makes absolutely no sense. The strongest love does not die so abruptly. We were told this was forever. Fictional untruths occurred by both writers and actors being interviewed. So heartbreaking. Our joy was obliterated. I would like to end this story at Season 9 with the beautiful proposal.
The very thing that Lindsay is saying about staying true to the character is very important. As a Writer, I know this. But they are not staying true to the characters. I’ve watched the show from day one. These people are clueless.
They are, though. Elizabeth wouldn’t be true to herself if she’d gone to the city and lived in the governor’s mansion. He wanted to be a hero, and make a difference. His calling ended up pulling him away from Hope Valley. Couples split all the time, because they grow apart and just end up wanting different things. Both characters will be happier this way.
@@marias9288yes, but that wasn’t the true reason or else she would have not encouraged him to run. Either way, her new life is not going to be her own desires, completely one sided. As we all know that doesn’t work in marriage or any relationship for that matter.
I completely agree. They changed the whole trajectory of the show between seasons nine and ten and now expect us to believe this line of logic. They should have ended season eight with Elizabeth making a very different decision if this was the case. I wish the cast and crew success but this viewer is done.
Very disheartened! The shows essence of love shown in seasons prior is obliterated in a matter of moments in a shortened scene of Elizabeth and Lucas. Terrible!
I think the writing has been on the wall for at least a few weeks but the governor thing and potential move really forced her hand. Better she did it now than at the altar.
Thank you for this wonderful show. Lindsay and the writers have brought the show back to its roots. So thankful that Elizabeth is finally following her heart.
The Lindsey and her team did some brilliant writing this season! She is bringing continuity to this season by tying in aspects from previous seasons. It’s so obvious she did her homework by binge watching S1-S9 prior to her interview to becoming the show runner! Well done Lindsay!
The only fans who are supportive of the turn of events are many of the very fans who maliciously trashed the show after S8, demanded firings, boycotted the network & insulted actors. S10 has its moments but much of it didn’t build on threads from past seasons. For some characters, there was no development or progression at all. Nathan had few viable scenes. The entire E/L r’ship has been diminished. Elizabeth is barely recognizable. The storyline would have been plausible if it was logical. I am wildly disappointed in all of it, but most especially in this interview. I hold Brian Bird personally responsible for permitting the breakup of a 5 yr relationship to be told in this way. It was more than just drama. It was cruel. Did you learn nothing from the ridiculous triangle that wasn’t even a triangle? The fallout was real and mean. Hearties defended the show & its creators, producers & writers. We are a loyal fan base. We market for you. We network. We support the show with everything we’ve got. But, to what end? Sorry for my directness, but in no world (least on my not Hallmark) was this appropriate. I am beyond disappointed. Will I continue to watch? Yes, but I will no longer be the cheerleader I had become. That Edify interview was damage control, pure and simple.
I agree with all of this but I will not continue to watch. I feel manipulated and lied to and it is no longer a happy place for me. Ok there can enjoy it and I wish them well, but for me the joy is gone.
True, if they show E running into Nathan's arms in the next episode after setting us up for a wedding and a 5 year love story well that is just pure dishonest writing and storytelling. It will also mean they succumbed to all the insults and threats which is really sad to think.
I love your post and totally agree. I might continue to watch - I haven't really decided, but I won't schedule my whole Sunday evening around it like I have been doing. I have become very picky on what I watch as far as on Hallmark and other channels. I don't need all this drama - I have it in my own life. That's why I watch romcom movies and WCTH -to escape reality for a bit.
Sorry - VERY disappointed. You made Elizabeth’s character unlikeable. The old Elizabeth would never involve her son in such nonsense of accepting a proposal and not going through with it. You have lost a lot of viewers.
@balayagesalon I belong to a team Nathan group that numerous people stopped watching and would just follow the commentary from others. Now that it looks like it could go the other way they are going to watch again.
Lindsay, thank you for bringing the show back to its roots this season! I’ve missed my favorite show the last 2 seasons, but this season has been great! Tonight’s episode was really well done! ❤
What this latest episode shows is that we can't trust Elizabeth. I never thought I'd say that. This character is not who we've watched over the last 10 years. She's not some wishy washy character who is chained to her life in Hope Valley. The real Elizabeth would have risen to the challenge. She would have stuck to her commitment to Lucas, that was not made in haste or because it was "safe". Whoever wrote that in the script obviously didn't understand the last 4 yrs of story. She would have seen this as an opportunity to expand her influence and impact on the world around her. It's just 4 yrs. She's not a 20yr old anymore. She's a grown woman, not some naive kid who doesn't know her own feelings. "So dumb" is all I could think when I watched the episode. Are y'all really doing this stupid N/E/L thing again!?! And, if they put her with N, what in the world does she think mil spouse life is like?! (Asked as a Mil Spouse). I've recommended this show for 10 yrs, even through the Jack's death mess. I won't be recommending it anymore. It doesn't make any sense at all for it to go this way. Not for the time period, not for Hallmark, not for Janette Oak books, not for the 10 yrs of character development. I mean for soap world, sure. I love a good soap opera, have watched several over the last 40 yrs. But, I didn't think that's what I was watching. 🤷♀
The only one fighting for love is Lucas. He’s fighting for the woman and child he’s grown to love, he’s fighting to save the town he calls home. He’s fighting for everything and everyone in Hope Valley.
@@michaelinedegruy-zk3eu 💯 agree!!! Meanwhile, Nathan has been running around like a fool (in my humble opinion) “looking for love”…first w/ Elizabeth, then May, then Faith! Even Kevin McGarry was critical of him! I’m totally OVER & DONE w/ WCTH! (BUT…I would watch a Lucas spinoff! 🥰😍🥰)
Lucas has become the star of the show. Surpassing Elizabeth. If you look really close it seems that Lucas not only is like Jack but is becoming a lot like Abigail. Abigail was instrumental in saving the town and supporting fellow widows after the mine disaster. Lucas running for governor and winning will save Hope Vally and neighboring communities. His business skills and love for the town he calls home will sustain HV’s growth. It’s because of Lucas Bouchard Hope Valley will flourish in the 1920’s.
I am SO HAPPY with the turn of events! I had resigned myself to Elizabeth with Lucas, but I was heartbroken when it happened. Now, this blossoming love with Nathan again is so heart warming. Their acting has been incredible. I was so thrilled about Rosemary and Lee finally having a baby. Now, one more request, PLEASE bring Abigail back for Henry! And PLEASE let Nathan and Elizabeth be a permanent couple! ❤️
Elizabeth shouldn't have been put with anyone so soon after the trauma of Jack's death. Her love story should have continued as the love of a mother and her child until she was truly healed, however long it took. There were plenty of other characters to provide romantic love stories.
How can the showrunner say the show is about the fans? This could have been a healing season but she brought back the triangle and divided us again. So how is that thinking of the fans? She will lose half of us again only on the other side. She seems to favour the Nathan fans and that's not fair to the canon of the last two seasons. Maybe there will be another great twist and we'll feel like we did in season 8 episode 12.
I'm not hanging around to find out. I already took WCTH off my DVR and I won't be buying the S10 DVD. For me the series has ended in E4 of this season when LucaBeth were still happily planning their wedding.
I'm so excited!!! I hope Nathan and Elizabeth get together they have so much chemistry!!! I can't wait to see where Lucas's journey takes him. The acting of all the characters was phenomenal❤
Glad Im not the only one who was shocked at The Last 14:30 show. So why not let Bill or Lee run for Governor and it was unbelievable to hear Rosemary say.. I thought Lucus would turn it down. Really
Yeah very hypocritical of Rosemary to say that. She started all of this and now she's turning against Lucas. I didn't like her at all these few episodes.
The children were also upset he run for governor to save their beloved town? And Elizabeth made it see to the kids that he broke things off? I hope Lucas gets to be the new hero of the show like Jack was! He looked so neglected at the train station! Unfair!
I am so disappointed. Years of a love story built up and now just suddenly ended? This makes no narrative sense. You can’t just pretend that previous seasons did not happen. You can’t just switch characters’ emotions around willy nilly. Some people will be happy because they finally got what they’ve always wanted, but that does not make it good writing. This is so unfortunate because this was my favorite show and I can’t trust it anymore. It’s become a soap opera and not what I’ve been watching for 9 previous seasons. You’ve lost a viewer.
I too was disappointed! I was team Nathan, however, finally got used to the idea of Elizabeth being with Lucas. I still love the show, but wish that they didn’t end the relationship. It doesn’t make sense unless Chris McNally is leaving the show!
I agree. The only reason she was ever torn was because she was clearly holding onto the memories of Jack. You can tell she misses those “mountie” moments but that doesn’t make her love Nathan. I will not continue to follow. They completely could have made their relationship work. How do you truly love someone but you don’t sacrifice for them? They have made her insensitive and greedy. Nothing anybody else wants matters because Elizabeth isn’t going to leave Hope Valley. His term would have only been 4 years. They have been together about that long. They could have kept the relationship somehow. Completely ruins the entire show.
It’s all about BB’s wallet. He honestly thinks he will gain “lost” viewership back to watching the show. He will loose just as many possibly more by changing the direction of the show especially after season 9. I have watched since S1E1 and was heartbroken when DL left WCTH. I was very excited knowing the show was bringing in CM. He’s been great in all his other movies and shows. He was Jack 2.0. A much better love interest for Elizabeth to move forward in HV. I could see where there would be many more stories from this character pairing. KM has a large fan base and they are very vocal, but the Nathan character is stale. I’m hoping the show continues for the cast and crew’s sake but not very optimistic.
@@michaelinedegruy-zk3euLucas was Charles 2.0. Elizabeth chose Jack not Charles. She chose HV not Hamilton. There are so many people who never saw a love story between E&L. What did they discuss? What did they overcome together as a couple? Elizabeth needed time to grieve but Lucas subtly rushed her back into the dating scene with his cunning ways. It started with- “if this were a date” comment. And, rewind the tape- E hesitated with every 1st they had. She hesitated with the Wolfe tickets. She hesitated with holding his hand the first time. She hesitated the first time they almost kissed. And everytime Lucas was like I’m not trying to rush you…and then fans start saying he’s so patient- really? I saw it as poor E is being cajoled into this forced relationship and she’s going along with it bc she misses being pampered and that connection with another man. Note that L had always sought out love so he overcompensates and does these grand things to get it. E says HV is my home and L says it’s mine too then. E says I don’t want a bigger house and L says okay I won’t build one. And, L saw her hug N at end of S7 and thought she had feelings for him. And, he pretty much observed N&E all of S8 and he finally concluded that E had feelings for N so he let E go. All these points clearly shows why E&L broke up at the train station. L knew deep down that he never had E’s heart and in a promo he said that he would have regretted not getting on the train alone to run for governor. They wanted different things and they finally realized that. Happens to couples all the time. They mutually agreed to move on. I’m not trying to be mean here but just wanted to let you know that plenty of people feel like S10 makes complete since- and I’m one of them- has nothing to do with teams and ratings- it makes since based on the story that is written.
I would have preferred replacing Jack with another actor but continued to watch bc WCTH is such a good show. I didn't like that she chose Lucas but I continued to watch bc WCTH is such a good show. I don't know what will happen next but I will continue to watch bc WCTH is such a good show....
For people saying “If E ends up with another Mountie, he will just die again like Jack”, that’s a faulty argument that makes no sense because no one is spared from death period. Elizabeth said herself that she avoided choosing Nathan because she didn’t want to go through that pain again, but even Lucas was close to death at times. For example: That saloon fire in season 9, being beat up by henchman in Season 9 and even that incident in the saloon involving guns in season 6. Everyone has a 50% chance at death because they are HUMAN. Yes, being a Mountie may increase those risks (hence Jack’s premature death), but Nathan and Elizabeth could very well grow old together. I mean, look at Bill. He’s no longer a Mountie, but still doing dangerous work at an older age. Elizabeth’s fears were valid, but not rational.
I can not explain how much I have enjoyed season 10. The way the stories have been tied back to previous seasons have been wonderful. It truly feels like HV again. Regarding N/E, I can see a wonderful love story unfolding bc she is now letting her heart lead her without fear. And Lucas…I’m loving his story arc and seeing him in this new element. He’s going to shine in this new role for him. Soo excited to see where S11 takes us. Well done, Lindsay!!
I agree, the writing has been so good this season. I love how all seasons were considered and drawn from. I love how enthusiastic Lindsay is about all the characters.
Today, many of us feel like we did after season 8 episode 11. We were heartbroken because we thought Lucas and Elizabeth were over. However we were relieved and elated in season 8E12. That can happen again. Aunt Agatha said Lucas was meant for a larger stage but she also said she was given a second chance at love and to hold onto that with all she has. Don't forgot the second part of that scene.
I don't think they can recover from that breakup. If it was just about moving to capital city, maybe. But once Lucas said "but there's something more isn't there?" That's when I knew they were done done.
Totally agree with you. There’s Nathan in between & I don’t think they can recover from that.E should have listened to aunt Agatha & held on to her 2nd chance at love.
I cannot believe this showrunner decided to ruin a beautiful love story the show spent 5 years building up; you made Elizabeth take 3 years to make her decision and showed her so happily in love. Come Season 10, we got none to little romance between Elizabeth and Lucas, Elizabeth became a shadow of her self - every other character's screen presence now outshines Erin Krakow's in S10 ! I will say setting up Lucas for a bigger story, the friendship between Mei , Fiona and Faith, Hickam's growth , Rosemary & Lee as a team and even Bill and Madeleine all seem interesting whereas sadly Elizabeth the protagonist is now reduced to a side character who is just moving with the current and is pensive all the time. If you wanted to do the Casablanca story, it should have been in Season 8 and now fans who rooted for Nathan or Lucas feel cheated out and most of all anyone who was Team Elizabeth is left with no faith in her integrity. Also Elizabeth is not just a school teacher, she's also a writer and a published author who loves living in a small town but also enjoyed having her light shine outside it to a bigger stage though her writing ! The show has forgotten that aspect also ??? The showrunner in an interview mentioned she has a blended family- so I guess they want the show to take this route now ? Only we didnt have to go through this change in narrative and heartbreak just for you to make fiction reflect your reality. A very disappointed fan. Season 11 will most probably be the end of WCTH
I couldn't have said it better myself. This show runner just wants what she wants and doesn't care about any of the previous seasons or characters. I feel cheated out of the last 4 years of building a love story of Lucas and Elizabeth. What a complete waste.
Great Episode! Great Season!! I have loved all the throw-backs to the past seasons! I love how much care & effort Lindsay has put into discovering who each character is and delivering better in-character storytelling.
I love this show. Thanks for doing these interviews. It is neat to see a little behind the decision making and see Lucas' excitement about the direction of his character. I wish fans would not bash Elisabeth. You can tell she is really struggling but is finally listening to her heart and recognizing the fear she had. I personally know soneone that was engaged to be married but broke it off when his heart was telling him another woman in his life was the one he should be with. They have been married 50 years! I am excited to see where the storylines go.
SOOOOO happy!! Finally getting it to the way it should be! Teacher/ Mountie! I just never liked the awkward chemistry with Lucas and Elizabeth! Looking forward to a beautiful love story with Nathan & Elizabeth! Perhaps Lucas and Fiona would be a great couple!
I loved the interviews. This was a powerful episode and a very brave story the writers have been telling this season. I appreciate the context that was provided about the creative decisions. Heartbreaking and beautiful!
She needs to go straight to Nathan cause she was waiting for so long cause she has been hiding from her heart time to let her heart out and tell Nathan her feelings.
I still dont agree ... after the interview I still think Lucas can still a hero for his character, they can work this out, but instead they are turning them into a soap opera, where characters can easily shift back their love to the other person ? Why didnt they just continue ( Nathan and Elizabeth ) to work to overcome her fears slowly?. Now she end up breaking Lucas and little Jack's heart. Storytelling I love but losing someone you love is tough.. it's easy to say move on, but it's not. I'm disappointed, can't watch another soap opera. Love Janette Oke books read all of them . Good luck !!!
The Hearties do know the characters and Elizabeth has not been true to her character in these last few episodes. Totally get ahe doesnt eant the alth Lucas wants but to say she made the safe choice means she led him on. Not cool.
So true I was shock at that statement like how was Lucus safe he owns a saloon a business man.. Just a line thrown in to make us believe Elizabeth really had thought about it and chose Lusus cause he was safe. She was drawn to him and couldn't stop smiling. It's a bunch of bull. The flip-flop is poor writing. Done with the show
I am so sorry. I love Paschal Hutton and her character Rosemary but there is no defense for the writing of Season 10 or Elizabeth's behavior. She is not some callow 16 year old with no experience of life or her feelings. This season makes Elizabeth seem like a cruel and selfish creature. And if no one noticed, in all her selfish musings she never once considered little Jack and the happy family he was in until this new show runner decided to tear the last two years apart. I don't know what happened except for her but this season has not been enjoyable overall, Nathan was supposed to have a new love interest and so was Bill. Both fizzled. Mike and Mae have barely been on. Molly's feelings for Bill were ignored. Faith is just plain boring. In a season where fans were led to believe they could enjoy plans and execution of a wedding we get this mess. I have watched faithfully through all the seasons and enjoyed most all of the series. Comings and goings of actors do affect the writing but most characters have remained true to who they are. This season not so much. It is not one thing that has let me down as a viewer, it is the whole confusing tenor of this season. Hopefully Hallmark will not allow some person to come and ruin "The Way Home" as they have WCTH. Sad to lose a once great show that was so relatable.
I agree and believe that it is the beginning of the end for WCTH. I would love to hear what Chris, Kavin, and Paschal really think. I felt like this After Show they were just trying to pacify the audience into the direction of the new ShowRunner that makes no sense. It's like the last two Seasons didn't even happen.
They did that when Jack died. Daniel, Erin and Abigail (can’t remember her real name). They came on trying to make everyone feel better and keep watching.
My husband and I have been watching When Calls The Heart from the beginning and absolutely love this show! Looking forward to the finale and next season! I’ve always thought Elizabeth and Nathan belonged together! 🥰 But no matter what happens, I’m a Heartie, through and through. A big thank you to the writers, you’re the best! ❤️
I won't even give you the benefit of watching your video. This season has been a complete disaster and the new showrunner totally ruined a wonderful show and amazing love story with the complete idiocy of this ridiculous season. The love story John Tinker gave us was completely ruined by this new person who obviously doesn't care about the loyal hearties who have watched this show since season 1. I am a part of a Facebook group who fell in love with Lucas and Elizabeth's love story that began in S6 and was completely obliterated in S10.
My comment is addressing a majority of long time fans. They want to talk to Lindsey Sturman but wasn't getting a response. I was expecting Lucas and Elizabeth to marry. I guessed there was no wedding based on the clips and photos even though certain people kept saying there is one. Sorry to say many hearties are disappointed with this season. After last night, I really felt upset with it and I am turned off by youtubers posting videos rumoring that Elizabeth will marry Nathan but it would make very bad writing if they reopen that up. I think that it make fans angry when she relapses. It is showing her character is very bad this season. I think this is destroying the show. People want to see romance and didn't want a heart break. I recall that they said Hope Valley is going to go through a change. I expect that Lucas will still be in Hope Valley in Season 11. Elizabeth should have asked for help to deal with her grief. I agree that she is not healed and still holding on her loss of Jack and that is affecting her ability to love anyone. I don't think that the showrunner did what is best for the character. There were things that they promised and fans are noticing it was not fulfilled. People expected Fiona to have more bigger impact this season and Nathan to have more Mountie work and Elizabeth more teaching. The rest of the characters seemed to be thrown in but didn't have a solid story this season. Hoping season 11 will be better.
Be-on happy with the decision to change the story. So many more stories and ideas can come from it. I hope Elizabeth chooses Nathan. I like to see Lucas interested in the Fiona and maybe get married. I think they are both business minded people and they can do so much for the town and people of Home Valley..
Made Elizabeth’s character into a wishy washy, unbelievable, fearful woman. How could you ever trust any decision she would make going forward. Ruined this show by flipping seasons 8-9. I’m done.
Poor, lazy writing. Months of development, slow burn, engagement, tiresome and dreary love triangle... then... bleh. I suspect the LucaBeth shippers are pissed and the Nathan/Elizabeth shippers are hooting, but I sense they're all going to be disappointed.
This season has been boring, we’ve all been waiting for a wedding , but now this . I don’t think I can invest anymore . This show is suppose to be a feel good show , instead we have brought back a triangle that was suppose to be finished .
The last 5 seasons should have been a dream sequence, and somehow bring Jack back. They never should have had Elizabeth involved with anyone but her son after the immense trauma of Jack's death
My version of S10 has LucaBeth enjoying a beautiful wedding and honeymoon and then moving into their house on the hill. Lucas is mayor of Hope Valley and Elizabeth continues teaching. AJ comes back and marries Bill. And Nathan and Faith find true love.
You have lost a viewer here. Worst writing ever. Not keeping true to the story of the last 4 seasons or the characters. Not believable in any way. You just pretend that seasons 8 and 9 never happened. Because you get a new show runner that wants her with Nathan?? What a complete waste of 4 years and a beautiful love story
@@joannesaunders9287 Elizabeth left Hamilton to teach. Lucas wanted a simpler life, he told her that more than once. He didn't want to run for Governor, he did it to save Hope Valley. Everything he did was for her and she just crushed him.
Bill opening his heart to love? What happened between Molly and Bill? They were building something in season 9 and poof it was gone as if nothing ever happened between them in season 10. 😢
Kavan was excited for Chris for Lucas' storyline too. I'm happy for Chris too but something is niggling at me and I hope I'm wrong. I fear that Lucas will be elected and it will be an opportunity to write him out of the series. I know lots of people have said that Chris is in Season 11 but beyond seeing him in the one cast photo of the watch party for Episode 1...is he in just a few episodes of the new season. Remains to be seen.
@@christieholland1079 I've been looking for it and haven't found it. I wish I had taken a screenshot of it at the time. If i find it, I'll let you know.
Elizabeth is not dumb. She had to have a good idea that she and Jack would have to move. She had Plan B ready...go to Nathan. Even Henry could see that Elizabeth was moving towards Nathan.
Couldn't have said it better myself!!! Exactly how most of us feel ❤!!!
@@dlandes14the writers did that
What happened to Elizabeth and Lucas characters from season 8 and 9?
they made them disappear, all gone, unbelievable, so sad
Destroyed by a new showrunner who seems to enjoy ruining a beautiful love story to recreate an ugly triangle to appease Nathan fans and give them new hope. In the process, Elizabeth looks pathetic and the show as we knew it is gone forever. I,for one, am gone with it.
As they got to know each other better they realized they didn't want the same things. She realized her life in HV was what she wanted .
They evolved and grew apart. It happens. ❤️ She realized her heart has always been elsewhere.
they were completely trashed
Just absolutely no chemistry between E & L and good for L he is running for governor as he is ambitious
Best of luck. I won’t be watching a show that forgets fans invested in S8 and S9.
Massive disappointment is an understatement! (Lucas) I bawled like a baby!! just like I did when Jack died.
Same! I'm so upset!
I felt like it!
Loved her comments about being true to the characters as well!
Yes, it makes a big difference when the showrunner knows the complete history of a show. I loved it when she said the stories have to make sense.
@@ctothej28That’s pretty ironic considering I can’t make sense of much of what has happened in Season 10 unless you totally ignore Seasons 6-9.
The acting was so incredible this evening. From Erin, Chris, and Pascale. Loved the whole episode
I'm devastated, I can't see the point in this decision
Just have to put l/e together 😢💔 again you have a wonderful show but don't ruin it now after these years
Breaks my heart 😢.
🤗😢
They got rid of Tinker which is the best thing that happened
@@margaretyong9198 I agree!!!!! The new writers are fixing the damage from Tinker.
It didn't look amazing to all of us watching
You are so correct.
That honestly appeals more to me, but I respect that it may not be others "cup of tea."
ugh I just hate what the writers have done to Elizabeths character!!
🎉😢😢😊
Agree!
Beautifully said.
They were newly engaged. What struggle and strife did you expect them to have as a couple?
I agree. Best written and acted season since the first one. Well done. Erin was magnificent!
The worst writing for this season. What do we watch now?
Great American Family channel has some great movies you can watch. Also HBO's The Gilded Age is starting up in a couple of weeks and is an amazing show.
The writing is incredible! That scene with Rosemary and Elizabeth was so beautiful! The emotions! ❤
Well said… agree
I was looking forward to a beautiful wedding in S10 not this ...❤
@@marias9288 yes they do. But this storyline is not true to the characters. It came out of left field. It now erases three whole seasons. SMH
@@tdesteamboat1 I understand
Very disheartened! The shows essence of love shown in seasons prior is obliterated in a matter of moments in a shortened scene of Elizabeth and Lucas. Terrible!
Agree. It makes NO sense.
I think the writing has been on the wall for at least a few weeks but the governor thing and potential move really forced her hand. Better she did it now than at the altar.
Episode 11 was so good!! Can't wait for the finale!
Thank you for this wonderful show. Lindsay and the writers have brought the show back to its roots. So thankful that Elizabeth is finally following her heart.
She doesn't have a heart or a soul now
The Lindsey and her team did some brilliant writing this season!
Pot meet kettle.
But will likely gain back many that left after s8
@@dlandes14no those fans are sick of it too
@balayagesalon I belong to a team Nathan group that numerous people stopped watching and would just follow the commentary from others. Now that it looks like it could go the other way they are going to watch again.
I AGREE! LITTLE JACK LOVES HIS BUDDY, and his buddy loves him, too.
I agree 💯
so the last 2 seasons were nothing? They've made Elizabeth look so shallow and selfish hate this seasons writing.
I love how all of the characters stories came alive this season.
It was a good season. I did not, however, want Lucas and Elizabeth to break up.
By turning a 30 yr old man into a school kid wow exciting!!
Lindsay, thank you for bringing the show back to its roots this season! I’ve missed my favorite show the last 2 seasons, but this season has been great! Tonight’s episode was really well done! ❤
Season 8 episode 2. Glad you see Elizabeth get back to the truth in her heart. And yes things like this story do happen in real life.
Agree with you 💯
@@michaelinedegruy-zk3euexatamente o que penso. Lucas cresceu e E diminuiu.
More episodes…yes please!!!
Why couldn’t he have a Governor’s house in Hope Valley??
It wouldn’t matter if they had a Governors house Elizabeth cannot give him his whole heart.
@@marleen6507 I dont think thats true.
The governor’s house can’t be in Hope Valley. It has to be on the Capital I think.
Excited for Season 11! Bravo to all!
Thank you so much for sharing these interviews and giving insight from the actors about the characters. It was beautiful. :)
Lindsey has done wonderful this year restoring what should have been the original storyline.
Just another show she will bring to a end.
@@pigeon5120 nope WCTH just got renewed for a S12. The show is moving forward. It's doing fine.
I totally agree
Preach!!
I'm so excited!!! I hope Nathan and Elizabeth get together they have so much chemistry!!! I can't wait to see where Lucas's journey takes him. The acting of all the characters was phenomenal❤
Actually both Elizabeth and Nathan are really boring characters
People grow apart all the time. People change, circumstances change- why can’t E&L be any different?
I wish all the actors and the show much success, but this was the last show that I will watch.
Same. This is just as bad as when Jack died for me 💔
I would have preferred replacing Jack with another actor but continued to watch bc WCTH is such a good show.
We hope you are around to write the next 10 episodes. You seem to understand the way the story should go.
I agree, the writing has been so good this season. I love how all seasons were considered and drawn from. I love how enthusiastic Lindsay is about all the characters.
Thank you for staying true to the books.
I remember, well, what Aunt Agatha said. It hit me hard, when Elizabeth split with Lucas.
Totally agree with you.
There’s Nathan in between & I don’t think they can recover from that.E should have listened to aunt Agatha & held on to her 2nd chance at love.
To say fans will be devastated that there's no wedding, is putting it mildly. 😢
The writing this season has been amazing!! Thank you for bringing back the Hope Valley we know and love.
Chris was obviously cut off when he started to discuss how the fans would feel about the outcome.
Well said.
Season 10 was an absolutely amazing season and I love the direction to show is going now. Well done all.
Great Episode! Great Season!! I have loved all the throw-backs to the past seasons! I love how much care & effort Lindsay has put into discovering who each character is and delivering better in-character storytelling.
I am loving this season!! Lucas needed his hero’s story. Nathan has waited forever for Elizabeth. I think Nathan and Elizabeth will find there way. ❤️
I really am hopeful that Nathan and Elizabeth get together.
I am with you, even when the writing doesn't go my way. I can say that the last few episodes have had me on the edge of my seat!!
Great. Cast. And. Great. Tv. Show when call the heart
Loved tonight’s episode! The actors are phenomenal!! This season is great!
I'm so excited to see Nathan and Elizabeth's future!!! I also am really looking forward to seeing what's ahead for Lucas!
I wonder how much of storyline are designed to turn out viewership even at the expense of the story arcs.
I loved the interviews. This was a powerful episode and a very brave story the writers have been telling this season. I appreciate the context that was provided about the creative decisions. Heartbreaking and beautiful!
I really hope Elizabeth does not run to Nathan. She needs to deal with her grief still.
Nathan IS NOT JACK LET IT GO!!!!!!!!
She looks like she hates romance and happy endings.
Thanks for posting "The Way Home". I was not familiar with it. Do you have any other series you would suggest?
My husband and I have been watching When Calls The Heart from the beginning and absolutely love this show! Looking forward to the finale and next season! I’ve always thought Elizabeth and Nathan belonged together! 🥰 But no matter what happens, I’m a Heartie, through and through.
A big thank you to the writers, you’re the best! ❤️
I hope the show goes 10 more seasons just like she said!
Hope Valley is my happy place every Sunday night. Just wish the seasons were longer!
Thank you for taking the show back to the old seasons. I haven't watched in two years and happy to come back now.
Love how the show is going back to its original roots. The writing this season has been great. The show runner Lindsey gets it. Thank you.
This is heartbreaking. Elizabeth & Lucas had a beautiful love story and it's been destroyed 😢
My absolute favorite tv show!
2 hr episodes?? Yes please ❤
Wonderful season! Love the energy and development of the show/characters! Can’t wait for next season!❤ Great work!
You just made the last two season make no sense
Very disappointing and confusing.
The last 5 seasons should have been a dream sequence, and somehow bring Jack back. They never should have had Elizabeth involved with anyone but her son after the immense trauma of Jack's death
So disappointing, can't believe the writers going this direction.
Welcome to Team Nathan's world!
@@mlnedeauBig difference because Elizabeth never shared a love story with Nathan.
You’ve got to stay true to the story. Elizabeth left Hamilton for a more simpler life. Lucas was everything she left.
@@joannesaunders9287 Elizabeth left Hamilton to teach. Lucas wanted a simpler life, he told her that more than once. He didn't want to run for Governor, he did it to save Hope Valley. Everything he did was for her and she just crushed him.

Kavan was excited for Chris for Lucas' storyline too. I'm happy for Chris too but something is niggling at me and I hope I'm wrong. I fear that Lucas will be elected and it will be an opportunity to write him out of the series. Elizabeth is not dumb. She had to have a good idea that she and Jack would have to move. She had Plan B ready...go to Nathan. Even Henry could see that Elizabeth was moving towards Nathan.
They aren't real people .That was the new showrunners writing new stuff .lol
