My Ipad pro and 2019 MBP worked fine connected via usb but I couldn't get it to work wirelessly. I tried everything over and over with no success. Then just to make sure I was logged in correctly I changed my Apple ID password. Once updated on both devices I was able to use Sidecar wirelessly.
Thank you! Activating the icloud account on the mac fixed the issue for me (I wrong assumed that having apple id connected on both devices was enough)

The video helped a lot to understand how to troubleshoot the issues, but in my case what was really preventing the connection between my Mac and iPad was that I was connected to a VPN. That was initially raising error 32002 and later the connection was timing out. Thank you.
Mid 2017 MacBook Pro 13" with a 2019 iPad Pro 11" and sidecar keeps freezing after a couple minutes. Only fix is disconnecting and reconnecting. Quite annoying when the whole point is to increase productivity. Could this be a RAM issue on one of the devices?
thanks! kinda dumb that we have to use the same icloud account in order to use sidecar. is there a work around for this? I want to use my wife's ipad pro as a second display for my macbook pro.

Hi, Please I need help trying to fix the right aspect ratio on my ipad using sidecar. For somehow I'm not being to get full screen on my ipad using sidecar. What I'm getting is a 16:9 box on the ipad instead of being full screen. I've try many ways to fix it but no luck. Still getting black bars on top and bottom of the display on the ipad. Any suggestions?

Connects to 12.9 iPad Pro 1st gen and the screen mirror happens then 30 sec later it disconnects and says error code . Other 9 inch works fine and so did the big one for a while

How do you use Macbook Pro as a second monitor for ipad? Sidecar appears to connect as a second monitor for the Macbook Pro. I am looking for the reverse. I want the Macbook pro to be secondary monitor for the ipad. In other words, I want the screen from the ipad to mirror on a Macbook Pro. sidecar is one sided.

I'm still having trouble with my sidecar. I keep getting an error saying my icloud account does not have 2FA. I checked both my laptop and ipad and it does. Not sure what to try out now :/
I have a 2020 8th gen iPad and a 2020 macbook pro. Sidecar worked initially, then it stopped finding my iPad when I try to choose a device to connect to on my computer. Anyone able to help? I've assured my devices are on the same network. I've toggled bluetooth on and off. Reset my location settings, and now unsure where to go!
Got ipad pro 1st gen and imac 2019 both with latest software updates, same wifi, same icloud and can get Sidecar to work with with cable or bluetooth connection. tried all your suggestions...

Please help, I have been trying to get mine to mirror and nothing is working, keeps coming up as ipad timed out. Yes its all up to date and yet its still not working. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Bluetooth is connected, same account, same WiFi connection, FiOS service so I figured this is strong enough to handle the job. Help 😔

Great video but I have a different problem that I can't find help anywhere. Sidecar connects no problem, I am trying to edit a picture in photoshop using pencil. I can select icons around the Picture on the iPad (in the sidebar and Touch Bar) using my pencil but I can't draw on the picture, the only thing I do to the picture on the iPad is pinch zoom with my fingers. I can only paint using my mouse, either as mirrored or separate display. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
HI Aaron, are you using the latest version of Photoshop? You may need to double-tap your pencil to get out of the editing tool mode
so my mid-2012 macbook pro cannot use sidecar then?

SprachLangue, I’m quite late, but you need to download Catalina from the AppStore. After that, following these steps should make it work. I was using high Sierra and now I downloaded Catalina. That might fix your problem

Check your model information. Apple support these for Sidecar
• MacBook introduced in 2016 or later
• MacBook Air introduced in 2018 or later
• MacBook Pro introduced in 2016 or later
• Mac mini introduced in 2018 or later
• iMac introduced in late 2015 or later
• iMac Pro introduced in 2017 or later
• Mac Pro introduced in 2019

I have tried everything, the only thing I cannot do is take the today view off due to it being iOS 15. Only get this error; A miscellaneous error occurred (-6709).
Finally! A video that actually fixed my issue.
I found out my Macbook Pro is from early 2015, so sidecar is not working. Thanks for the video ad the tips.

Fall 2022. iPad Pro M1 & MacBook Pro M1 Pro. Still an issue. Around an 80% failure.
just found my connection issue problem with side car....as soon as I turned off my vpn on the MacBook , voila, instant connection to sidecar on iPad. I am using 2020 Mac Pro and 10.5 iPad Pro. no vpn on iPad also, tried both ways with and without vpn. hope this helps someone else cheers

My sidecar was not fullscreen on an iPad 12.9 Pro. After toggling off the "today" function in the iPad settings and reconnecting the iPad, it works in fullscreen. Thanks a lot!
Also just a note to anyone else, you can't have VPN's on one or the other, the only way I got it to work was turning off my VPN on both.

Apple actually blacklisted older devices as planned obsolescence. Some people have edited the code to run it, but it seems like a hassle.
So does this not work on the 21" imac? I have the 2017 version and cant seem to get it to work..

AppleToolBox yes, I’m using the 2nd gen iPad Pro 12.9”. It doesn’t show on my iMac for some reason even tho I’m logged onto the same Apple account on both
My problem was that I had to relogin on my ipad, now it works

Just bought the iPad Air 8 gen and apple care told me I can only do screen mirroring... with my iMac. I will be canceling my apple support subscription
To much of a hassle. I keep using duet. Works without these nonsense iCloud restrictions and can be used with MacOS and windows10.

One problem is that you might not have unlocked the iPad from the password and clicking on trust the computer and then giving ur pasword. After doing that the error goes away for me. Thank you for this amazing video!

IF your sidecar is NOT FULL SCREEN.
Go to Settings , then, depending on your model, tap one of the following:
Face ID & Passcode
Touch ID & Passcode
Passcode
Enter your passcode.
Turn OFF Today View & Search

Oh... Whoopi! It's so funny that several app makers can make an app that makes this work....but Apple can't lmao!? Yeah right... haha I think Apple is so bored because they are SO rich... that they get together at "eyes wide shut" parties, sacrifice a Best Buy employee (Bill Burr joke)😭 and then come up with things they can do to mess with people. Like making the iPhone cable to short, changing the charger ports every year, changing the direction we swipe to bring up menu items every few years, and of course.. RELEASE A BROKEN OS! hahaha

My frustration with this feature has made me hit new levels of hatred for apple. We give you an error message we dont tell you how to resolve it we don't fully tell you how to set it up.. try all kinds of things.. and then lol still doesn't work. damn you apple

iMac is awful!!! bought it just so I can use the sidecar and it's just horrible. constantly disconnecting, lags, awful. I wish I never bought iMac. Lacks functionality compared to Windows, can't use iPad with it because of poor connectivity. Windows, only windows - reliable and fully functional.
All the hand movement is extremely distracting/annoying.
