She eventually went but she had done so much damage to her young body it was fragile. She beat the hard drugs heroine etc. but died of alcohol poisoning. She was a brilliant and exotically beautiful talent with a unique voice and musicality.
yes you are correct. the song is autobiographical in that Amy wrote the song about her own struggles with alcoholism and depression, about how everyone in her life was trying to get her to go to rehab but she refused. there is a documentary about her life called "Amy" that was released in 2015 that has interviews with her and other people in her life that were close to her that outline the struggles she went through surrounding her mental health and addiction. it's quite sad actually but worth a watch if you're interested. Amy Winehouse was a phenomenal singer/songwriter and performer but she was also struggling with a lot of personal issues and she was taken from us way too soon. ❤️
There's a lot behind the song. It was wrote kind of at the beginning of her addiction. When she said that her daddy think she's fine she is talking about her father, one of the persons that make her keep working instead of taking a break and getting the help she needed. When she's talking about losing her baby, it's actually her man, because that relationship was based on all the wrong things. Like somebody said, if you have the time you should watch the documental of the life. She was a treasure that nobody actually save. So sad. Do a little more from her king 😍
People failed her so hard in the end, but none so hard as she failed herself. Such a sad end to a great talent. Another member of the 27 club. RIP Great reaction thx Eddie 😎
Yeah her dad Mitch tried to get her to rehab at that time. Amy then went herself and seemed to be doing ok but she relapsed in the sense that she took alcohol and so so sadly died due to her being underweight and I've heard bulimic at that time. She was a legend and I miss her so much.
Good though this song is and I'm a masive fan of Amy,the fact that it tells the true tail of her needing rehab and help and she says no to it is so heart breaking for me. And the line "And if my daddy thinks I'm fine" it's like a nail in her coffin as she'd do anything her dad asked but sadly he just wanted her singing and making money thus sending her down the road to sadly her death at 27. R.I.P Amy.
It's fascinating to see how much you can enjoy the music (as you should - it's a cool, jazzy beat) whereas all I feel is pity, sorrow, sympathy, empathy and I wish that I or someone could have got there sooner before the alcohol did too much damage, while listening to her amazing voice.

her dad told her not to go. He did not help her. She wanted to go to rehab with her husband and they told her it was a bad idea. She said no and wound up dead. She has no kid.

I love Amy.
Eddie, I feel the same about the brass section. That just brings the song up a notch. I love brass instruments in pop songs.

RIP Amy. Yes her Daddy did let her off the rehab hook because he wanted her to keep working $$. 🤬
