Chalk Mountain Colors
Mellow White as the base. Pastel Peach, Wisteria, and Aquamarine for the blend. Sealed in a mix of satin poly and a bit of the paint mixed with metallic base.

Taryn I really love the pearlescent treatment n this crib! So soft, elegant and beautiful. You make it seem so effortless and quick! The colors and iridescence is simply perfect! How long did it take you in real time?
Good call on not customizing cribs for strangers. You are a wise mama cuz people be cray! Lol!
(Btw, is it me or has your hair gotten long? Love it!)
The stenciling takes the longest since you have to wait for the first section to dry. So I’d say under two hours for that. Oh, nevermind, painting the whole thing white twice was excruciating. I should have just sprayed it because I HATE slats, spindles etc., but I wanted it to be by hand. THAT took the longest. I took three days on that- not because it actually took that long, but because I had to keep taking breaks so I wasn’t sad at life. The actual blending portion only takes me about a half hour to 40 min. at most. It’s so fast when you have a wet base underneath to blend over.
And yeah, the hair keeps growing. I haven’t decided what I’m doing with it next so I’m just doing nothing. I used to have different colors and cuts every few months, but I’ve been so busy lately I’ve just let it be.

Would you do a dresser or a tv console in metallic of some color? I would love to see how you apply metallic. There is not very many pieces of furniture in a metallic paint on UA-cam.
I have done a dresser in metallic, but not a tv console(not that I wouldn’t). And I add the metallic in the top coat stage. I like the impact regular colors give and then adding a metallic over the top. The best way to apply metallic is with a sprayer, but I prefer to brush my paint so I just accept the light imperfections of painting by hand. But if you have questions, I’d be happy to answer them if I can. I know that’s probably not the response you were hoping for as I don’t specifically use full metallic paint, but this is the way I prefer.

Haha, I’ll let my SIL know she has more work to do to fill the crib 😂. My son had the same one. It turns into a toddler bed and then a full sized headboard. But it does take the standard sized crib mattress.

Why not cut the border off the stencil?
The border gives the stencil structure and helps it last longer. If it was towards the end of it’s life I would absolutely cut it off, but as it was brand new I don’t want to speed up the aging process.
cut the edge off so you dont have the frame
I do that with older stencils, but as this was a new one, I like to keep the borders for as long as I can since they help the rigidity of the stencil.
