    You can also leave a 1.6mm (tig rod size) gap between the two bevelled tube pieces to ensure full penetration around that tube. AND if you make the inner sleeve, your full penetration weld with the 1.6mm gap will catch that inner piece, too.

    Welding. My favourite superpower.
    I do have to ask, though, I was welding a plate back in an antique safe, with 10mm thick walls the other day, and used used some rare earth magnets I use to hold my chuck key and stuff to my pedestal drill, and they lost their magnetism. I probably got them too hot. Is this something you've experienced?
    Great content as always.
    And, no infill. 'wanna see that mono shock.

      Thanks mate and to answer your question. I do believe that magnets lose their magnetism through heat especially extreme temperatures.

    Another great video Dan, and this one coincides nicely with where I'm at with my own project. Can I ask, as a general rule how much gap do you allow for the upholstery wrapping around the seat base. I'm guessing that this might depend on what I plan to use for the seat covering but have been working to allow 3-4mm.
    Anyway, keep up the great work.

    • @CafeRacerGarage
      @CafeRacerGarage  11 днів тому

      Thank you mate, and if you are not trying to wrap a stitch line around the area, that will be fine; however, if you are, you might need to add about 5-6mm depends on the upholstery type, the curve etc etc

    A single infill centralised between the two? May look a little different if possible?

  • @runfromnuke
    @runfromnuke 12 днів тому

    If there's benefit to the panels, absolutely. Otherwise, it might look better without them. Of course...you could make a small tool roll storage between them that avoids the monoshock.

    Another great video Dan. I'm with the open crew but no doubt you will come up with an amazing infill and we will all deny ever suggesting leave it open, and be saying why would anyone say no infill, just look at that infill it is totally awesome and looks the dogs mate. No pressure 😂. Really looking forward to seeing what you do come up with, if anything 😏

      @@scottdog182 thank you mate I just enjoy the building process and if I make it and it doesn’t look good, I can easily remove it :)
      The upcoming video will show one of the reasons I need to put a cover over this area.
      It’s more or less making a rather large electric tray under the seat 🤓

    The blatant coffee racer trend has ruined motorcycle design forever. Now all bikes, regardless of category, have stupendous cut rears that serve no purpose at all, in an effort for ALL of them to look like angry DIY mosquitos. Not only they lost any practicallity or design sense while doing so, but they destroyed the very exact thing they were chasing: when all bikes look DIY, DIY has no meaning anymore...

      Stfu. This way a 50 or so year old bike get a completely new life. It’s also very difficult to build them so they’re not as diy as you’d think and not as common as you’d think.

      Bro you’re crazy. I’m from a Harley family and I started fixing old Hondas because they are cheap easy to work on and if you know what you’re doing fast and nasty. Your off your cracker if you don’t think them bike are epic fast and they handle well without much. And way stop hating. My Daily is an 1980 CB 650 cafe’d and if something that always started and never leave me stranded the. I guess it’s not practical.
