    Hi Thomas, this is very helpful. Do you have a full heater core removal video in the works for a later Eurovan? It seems like stuff is sufficiently different that I, for one, would greatly appreciate such a vid. I’m stuck trying to get the knee bumpers off.

    • @valentindecker5264
      @valentindecker5264 2 роки тому

      Making Progress!, here is the trick to getting the knee bumper off:
      www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=650640
      two bolts under that cover and a 3rd nut on the other end and it's out!

      Sorry about the late reply... I was at work.
      I just checked the Bentley service manual and the Factory service info... both list the steps required.

    Awesome video Thomas. Great to see and hear you again! Guess what, my A4 cooling fan failed. Again, lol. I replaced the controller once, but I didn't realize it was a wear item 😕. The joke is on me.

      @@EXOVCDS the 400mm fan stopped coming on, not sure if it's designed to run before the 300mm fan or in conjunction with or only when needed.
      I replaced the fan controller with a new Valeo unit, Wich I understood was the original equipment manufacturered for VW/Audi. Both fans worked for a time, however the 400mm fan has stopped working again. I ordered a new 400mm fan as I assumed the controller couldn't have failed again, however now it looks like have more diagnostics to run.
      Do you know if A4s produced for southwest climates have different fan run triggers?

    • @EXOVCDS
      @EXOVCDS  3 роки тому +1

      Both fans on your Audi should run at the same time... if your scan tool can activate "output tests", you can check operation / power to the fan(s) with the key in the on position. I'd have to check a wiring diagram to see if there are separate fuses for each fan (I don't think so).

    • @EXOVCDS
      @EXOVCDS  3 роки тому +1

      Wiring diagram shows one 40A fuse (fan / load side) and a 5A fuse for the fan module. ECM sends a PWM signal to the fan module to activate the fans. Activation of fans is at same temperature in cold & warm climates... the hotter climate just warrants the ECM to activate the fans sooner / more often (engine reaches operating temperature quicker in hotter climates).

      @@EXOVCDS thank you so much! This is so helpful. I have the Bentley manual, I will look for a wiring diagram. I found the 5A fuse, will look for the 40A. I found the original fan had corrosion and possible shorting of the wires, maybe it blew a fuse or damaged the controller.

      @@EXOVCDS hey thomas I also have an P011 code on my audi . Could it be the cam position sensor or should I reset the cams timing. I appreciate you

    • @EXOVCDS
      @EXOVCDS  2 роки тому +1

      Make sure the engine does not have any oil pressure issues... has enough oil in it.
      Check cam timing / chain links... check if the plunger inside the chain tensioner (the part that the solenoid pushes against) is not sticking. You can remove the 2 small screws that hold the solenoid to the tensioner and then pull the plunger out... there's a spring behind it and an o-ring in front of it. The cam sensor is what tells the ECM the position of the intake cam... it is doing it's job.
