XVIVO Scientific Animation partnered with Johnson & Johnson to produce an educational video on androgenetic alopecia. Androgenetic alopecia is a hereditary condition that causes hair loss in men. Males can suffer from hair loss and early as their 20's. In fact by the age of 50, 50% of males will experience hair loss. Normal hair growth takes place in three phases in the follicle: anagen, catagen and telogen phases. In the anagen phase, the cells of the hair matrix responsible for growth actively multiply and are pushed upwards to form the hair shaft. After two to six years the follicles transitions into the catagen phase. In this phase hair growth stops. The base of the hair shaft keratinizes and moved upwards away from the papillary blood supply. Lastly, the follicle enters the telogen phase where the hair transforms into club hairs and migrates up the hair sheath. With androgenetic alopecia, the anagen phase is shorter and the telogen phase is longer. This results in shallower follicles and thinner hair over time. Rogaine brand is a FDA-approved treatment to regrow hair. Rogaine contains the active ingredient minoxidil which is proven to regrow hair as demonstrated in multiple clinical studies. Minoxidil stimulates longer anagen phases and shorter telogen phases as well as trigger growth in dormant follicles.

Yup, I can grow plenty of pubic hair but zero facial hair and now a receding hairline.
I wonder how the hell its so common among men since getting bald is usually not attractive. And I was sure being attractive increases chance for reproduction. So how did these genes are still here? What are we missing?
I experienced COVID that lasted around 12 days. At first, I believed I was fine until I began to notice a loss of more hair than usual. It works on my natural hairline. I never liked my hairline but didn’t know if it could create new hair instead of “regrowth”. It’s a slow process but I’m thankful it works.

Guys this minoxidil really works for me, but not for all men, you can try if it works, in about the three weeks of using, there is no change in your hairs loss, but after that period you can see the difference so easily, after 3 weeks I realized my hair loss decreased to about 90% than before, but unfortunately I used for one months, It seems I have to buy it again, if you want use it, you have to cut your hair for a low level for letting the minoxidil contact completely to your thin hair area

You have to use it twice a day everyday for as long as you want it to work. You can't take breaks.

ATP sensitive? The ligand of minoxidil when bound to the protein channel will change it and cause Na+ to pass through but is this dependent on ATP? The ligand of minoxidil has no phosphor groups and I don't see how this has to do with ATP,
Hehe ! there is nothing proven in the field of hair loss, they just know this works not how it works
There will be ATP in living cell (like in our hair), since ATP is necessary to mantain metabolic functions - ATP/ADP ratio determines ATP-sensitive potassium channel activity.
Minoxidil is ATP-sensitive potassium channel opener, causing hyperpolarization of cell membranes. That mean it will just increase the channel activity, but ATP (from our cells) are still necessary.
(but, like @Jaden Sparrow said, that wont explain everything, so basically we don't know exactly the mecanism of action behind hair regrowth)

Brother I’m sorry you’re experiencing that. Get on minoxidil and finasteride. Go see a doctor first to discuss risks and side effects before starting either.
I am facing higher hearts rating to using Kirkland minoxidil. So could you please let me know what should I do?
I’m personally experiencing heart palpitations from minoxidil, it would probably be best to either consult a doctor or just stop using it. Minoxidil was originally developed to be used in treating Asthma so side effects like these are pretty common

Reduce the dose, or stop. Apply once a day to see and if calms down and then apply two times. If it gets worse, stop, see a doctor. I reduced my dose when that happened and now I’m 9 months in using double dose.

@@lil_boyJohn Treating asthma? Are you kidding me? Rogaine minoxidil made me asthmatic and short breath as part of side effect. Now I take inhaler everyday despite I stopped using it before.
Minoxidil was developed originally to treat hypertension (high blood pressure).
People with hypotension should be careful with minoxidil as it is designed to reduce blood pressure further and they will likely experience chest pain and palpitation due to that blood volume fades away from heart during low pressure. So people with hypotension should take 2% minoxidil once a day or twice depends on level of blood pressure.

well, clinically it's proved that it does help with hair growth that is true.
it's also the number 1 dermatologist recommended drug to increase hair follicle blood supply by causing local vasodilation.
