I saw the film tonight. Really extraordinary -- such depth. Things happen on many layers, making it more difficult (and more interesting) to discuss than a more conventional narrative. It's also visually arresting so well worth seeing on the big screen -- the unusual cloud formations are a character in and of themselves -- and the acting is great. I was not surprised that Kristen Stewart won the French version of an Oscar (un Cesar) for her performance.

An absolutely phenomenal movie with truly breathtakingly deft acting. Bravo to each of you who created this beautiful magic. Note to Olivier: Nick Robinson should be cast in movies of this caliber. He is another rare and incredible actor that can bring to life the depth and magic of your artistic genius. Juliette, Kristen, your acting in this movie was so incredible. Absolutely amazing...

I love this movie and this interview, as well. As the length and host allowed the actors and director to answer their questions in depth. After seeing the movie twice, their answers add some more layers to my thoughts about this movie.

Thought this film was great. Reminded me of Sorrentino’s Youth (maybe the Swiss/international elite setting.) I’m finding myself quite enjoying these European films of the decade comprised of people just talking, including The Square and 45 Years. Hollywood has lost its touch.

If you like people just talking, it’s not a European film per se but it’s inspired by European filmmaking and it tells a story that takes place in part in Europe: my dinner with Andre with Wallace Shawn and Andre Gregory. It’s one of my favorite movies.

@@kaungkhantthein5348 Funny you suggest that, I found Rohmer through the Criterion Channel this past year. Watched his Six Moral Tales films from the 60's, early 70s. Enjoyed the style quite a bit. Any specific Rohmer recommendations? Thank you.

@@marks6695 I think that s a good start for Rohmer. You should check out Mia Hansen Love and Joachim Trier next, esp Things to Come and Oslo 31 August

I have been watching a lot of French and European movies lately and they are far better and more interesting than most of the US made films. They often delve into characters with more depth and take more risks, as well, and make you think and wonder about what has happened.

Pretentious, over-laboured film with an unlikely plot. Sheer pomposity disguised in pseudo-intellectual editing wizardry. It even manages to destroy the beautiful ‘Ombra Mai fu’ aria. For Binoche, English is a handicap she does not surmount. The director, a typical arty-farty wannabe, in total disarray confronted by a mangled script. This movie is a vacuous, self centred gigsaw that mirrors its protagonists. The only redeeming and credible feature is the part of Valentine played by Stewart , effortless, true natural.
