5:00 in dude you just saved me SO much headache. I’ve been dealing with wooshing sound in my headphones on some records and finally nailed it down to the center hole being too big on some records. I almost tossed them all bro thank you so much
This man is not only a God at his craft, but actually an excellent teacher. Much respect to him and we are extremely lucky that he decided to make this series.
Your tutorials are pure gold! Absolutely no attitude, extremely professional touch all the way and very clear instructions. This is how everything should be done. Thanks Angelo!
Thanks alot I been scratching on a controller for 5 years now just getting back into djing didn't really like the feel so I started buying stuff for turntable setup and couldn't really remember anything I used to do with vynl now its all coming back to me
have been following up VDO of turnablism for last year.. these vids are definitely class AAA++ . straight to the point, very clear in presentation, great advice. Appreciate with respect.
Ive been djing for years and could never get a clear explanation or understanding as to why Djs turned their turntables that way until today. Thanks for clearing that up D'angelo. Great Job!
Shiny label trick to make the hole smaller is GENIUS! Been mixing for 15 years (just getting into scratching) and can tell you all it works! Thanks for the tip!
One of the clearest tuturials ever. Watched this years ago and I finally found this record to follow along. Any other song recommendations with great samples like this?
jesus chris man, best dj instructional videos yet, you havent skipped anything. ive really learned alot. im doing it right now and i just learned about slowing the record down to get different pitches, who would have thought. i feel dum, thanks alot for making me feel dum:) appreciate it! cant wait till the next video.
It's great to see somebody taking his time to make these really basic tutorials. We're all at different levels, and this would have been great for me a year or two ago. Now I'm more of a beatmixer than a scratcher, but who knows? I may get keen on trying this out.
Having some clear exercises to practice is huge. This series is the only content I've found thus far that's as helpful. I will be sharing this content far and wide. Thank you! (Also I have ideas for putting together study aids for this; the Vic Firth site had a great set of exercises for drums, I think you could do exactly the same thing with this content).
man those tutorials are just GREAT. I dunno whether to start or not doing turntablism but those tutorials and the inspiration you give me as an artist are on top of the "pro's" list :) bless !
Great stuff i have a rane one does it make sense to get a turntable, thanks for the videos will try it out on those exact two songs see how it comes out.
LIKE pro canal !!!
Nicely done! I also find that handling vinyl with clean fingers can be slippy, like when you try n skin up just after you've washed your hands and it slips on the paper - moisturiser/hand cream helps with this, or a bit of spit. Lol.
I realize that this video was made a while back but am asking you what cartridge & stylus you use or recommend to mix, back que & scratch with?. Thanks for the instructional video. Keep Spinning.
I was a dj in a few clubs back in the early 1990's. Now that I am 50 y.o. I bought two Technics SL-1200MKII turntables about a month ago & broke out the 80's & 90's Hip Hop & House 12" single vinyl records I held onto. Now I am getting back into mixing & scratching again at home. A little rusty but it is coming back to me. Keep Spinning & thanks for your instructional videos.
YO! You get tremendous respect points from me for still being active on this channel over a decade after this video has been released. I've actually been seeing your videos in my recommended for a while now but this is the first one I watched. If you don't mind answering, what's your perspective on scratching on S arms vs straight arms? Was their ever a turntable you used that had an S arm that performed similarly to a straight without the sound quality drawbacks that a straight normally has? Asking this because my RP7000mk2 has an S arm and I am skipping a little. Could also just be my hand, I'm used to a controller. PEACE!
Awesome tutorial man. Just as one of the comments already said you take it slow and really show the technique. Thanks alot! Also is that an Audio-Technica at-lp120? I just got one of those today and looks just like it.

This video so dope.....brought a tear to my eye...
Wow, I completely overlooked the hole tightness when I tried scratching on vinyl way back when. Goes to show, never assume you know everything.
Nice vid, clearly explained and very informative, very good base for anyone attempting to learn to scratch, props!
Thank you for these videos. Now that my more suitable records arrived is time to put these videos to practice.

I'm on a small lil controller at the moment and I learned alot using it and im definitely improving but I really gotta get me some turn tables man
Nicely done! I also find that handling vinyl with clean fingers can be slippy, like when you try n skin up just after you've washed your hands and it slips on the paper - moisturiser/hand cream helps with this, or a bit of spit. Lol.
Should I focus on bringing the sample back to the very beginning before I begin each forward scratch?
wouldn’t hurt.
I realize that this video was made a while back but am asking you what cartridge & stylus you use or recommend to mix, back que & scratch with?. Thanks for the instructional video. Keep Spinning.
I used Shure M447 in this video but they are now discontinued and very expensive. Currently using Ortofon VNL.
