I’ve been working on shifting my bad practice habits to this, though it’s been very hard to shake them. It’s super helpful to see someone else go through this process and how they do it.
@@deeflattuning Yeah, I feel that. It’s definitely not an easy shift.
That room looks so cool
Hey, thanks!
super ,i must give this a try, i tend to attempt on playing the whole piece right through then work on the tricky parts , so i will defo give this method a go
@@fhulkster Yeah, I’m the same, and this was a positive change.
I'll definitely give it a try but i have a question..... as a beginner guitarist should I play and practice whatever Piece I want or it will be more convenient to play easy( but maybe not so cool)Pieces.
Thank you ❤❤
It’s always more enjoyable to play something that you like, and I would say to pick something that’s within your level yet still a little challenging rather than trying to play something that’s above your pay grade if that makes sense.
Do you break pieces down into sections when teaching your students Cody? I only just realised a lot of teachers do this as well and students are using this method without knowing!
Yeah, it depends on the student's needs, and sometimes we'll go through the motions together and try to get 7 repetitions in a row.
With this method, is this goal to work on a section until you can play it 7 times in a row with 100% accuracy at performance tempo? Or do you think it's good to do multiple 'iterations' of this method so to speak, going through the whole piece multiple times and gradually increasing the tempo?
Yes, to 7 times in a row with 100 percent accuracy but it does not have to be at tempo. It can be as slow as you need to get it 100 percent. The speed will come with time.
I’ve been doing this for years. Never have learned a piece in two weeks. 😂 More like two months. 😊
Lol. The hardest part is playing with 100 percent accuracy 7 times in a row.
how many minutes each day?
It depends how long the piece is and than however long it takes you to complete all the sections 7 times. For me it was about 30 to 40 minutes a day.
