And they make fun of Sony for making a lot of those lol
Glad to see smaller companies making games of such high quality like this, showing so much more creativeness and ambition compared to some AAA title game companies! Good on these guys, and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy!

In regards to alot of the buildings being the same, I bet the soviets did that alot; making buildings look the same. The soviets were not known for their....creativity.
They actually scanned the exclusion zone and built the game around it so it's a pretty accurate representation.
In every Eastern European country soviet buildings looks the same. The same ugliness.
Solid point. At least in certain areas and with more utilitarian buildings Ctr+V-ed through the whole country by the Soviet gov lol
If the Soviet Union done it, then it was probably for war purposes, making everything identical makes it alot harder to identify specific points in enemy territory. Just a wild guess.
@@zara6854 Nope. They done it because of the needs for cheap and quick built housing for people who lost their homes after ww2.
Between this, the ascent, Wildermyth, and ender lilies - this has been a SICK summer for indie games.
Im having issues believing this is an indie game tho.. i know it is but jesus fuck is it solid
I’d say it’s a double a game

The guard had a clue hidden inside his chest cavity. My 10% sanity meter said so.
And you need to research blade geometry, puncture force, viscera soakage into your clothes, and from a psychiatry standpoint, document final words to search for patterns. Do they scream "Nyet! Nyet!" Or perhaps pray? Or just screech and gurgle while releasing their bowels. You know. Science. 😋
Everything for science. They didn't stop to think if they should.
We will find clues to our research or die trying!

i just love how straight forward and bug-free it is compared to some massive ig budget AAA titles. Good old single player fun
Bugfree sounds awesome! Wanted to look how many bugs i encounter and the reviews are very positive.
No cockroachs around.

I played this game for the first time, just finished it. took me 20 hours to finish it and I can say the story was beyond amazing!
Absolutely masterpiece of a game. Story line was definitely 10/10. I would compare this game to Metro series where story line was also really nice
i just started it a couple days ago and the story had been amazing so far
Is there a kind of an endless play mechanic, like Stalker for example, where you can upgrade the hell out of your gear and do endless side missions? Or more like through the main story one time and you're done?
@@beforelifewaschaos the storyline ends the game at the end, ive played stalker before but it doesn't have the same replayabilty as it sadly
On which platform did u play? it cuz I have a ps4 and it's on sale at the moment
@@userr47895 just curious, does metro exodus have repeat playability after the main story ends? or does that too end fully when the story ends?
The first thing I did when I saw this was out was to check if Gameranx put out a video, since you all have the best way of breaking down what I'm looking for in a game and what would be dealbreakers. I wound up giving it a shot before this video dropped after hearing it was something like the spookier spots of Fallout + Base Building, with darker more story driven gameplay, but your review is exactly what I've been experiencing. Thanks for the helpful videos as always!
Im glad we are reaching the point where "open world" is no longer a huge selling point. Open world is good, WHEN DONE RIGHT. But it's awful when done wrong, and it's not often done well.
I like this new trend of hub areas, open enough to give us options but not so open they are all empty, also allows more variety per area
This so much.
Underrated comment.
@@light819 God of War comes to mind
now we just need to get rid of battle royale....
@@light819 Thats more like they did in the past with games that had huge "open world". Og deus ex comes to my mind at first, also vampire masquerade
Has a lot of “This war of Mine” mechanics, I like it.
I just hope I don't die as often as I do in twom, would be nice to get past in-game week 3
severely underrated game its one of my faves
no it doesnt
@@MikeMessiah yeah it does. Managing recourses amongst teammates and assigning team members to go in specific missions? It shares those mechanics.
@@sporeham1674 managing resources? just give them the same normal rations. Whats there to manage? Have a small garden in ur base and you will never need to "manage' resources
This and The Ascent are amazing looking indies. It's awesome how many comprehensive yet accessible tools are available to anyone with a dream and willing to do the work.
I loved the hallucination mechanic in "The Suffering". It actually had changes to the story
I wish they'd remake both those games. They would be so awesome to play with updated graphics, like they did with RE 2 and 3.
I love the suffering. That was one of my favorite games.
@@DerangedVoices as a kid, that shit scared me relentlessly just watching my brother play
I've had this sitting in my wishlist for a few years now, checking in on it, and it's one of the few EA games I've tracked that haven't been dragged out or abandoned. I'm impressed, and will be getting it ASAP. Everything Jake mentioned sounds great.
Always good to hear about ambitious AA games.
For real, I’m so exhausted with triple A games having the same format over and over and no change in mechanics or strategy

Got into it yesterday. I'll say it again, this is one of my GOTY's definitely. Immersive stuff. Graphics sick. Experience "so far so good!"
And now? A week later what do you think? I like the look of this but not sure whether to commit.
I just finished it. Couldn't put it down for a few days, it's great value for money, not insanely hard but not a cakewalk either. There's a lot that I didn't 100% that I could've as well. Give it a try.
Seems like a pretty good game, I'd like to try it at one point. It's great to hear of smaller teams that succeed with great games!
It's excellent. Give it a shot, my dude. Well worth the 30 bucks
there is a free demo on steam if you wanna try it without buying it
The most similar game I've played recently was metro exodus. Whereas exodus has more big action moments and cinematic story environments for sure, Chernobylite has one of the best gameplay loops and most satisfying resource management mechanics in any game I've played.
I've been playing this game on and off since 2019 as soon as I found out about it on steam, loved it from the beginning it was rough back then but loved being part of the development process and seen the game come together,
I only watch game reviews on this channel. Love how you explain the games, you put so much time and effort into it.
I'm only on day three but I'm really digging this game. I think it's so original and a breath of fresh air., well radioactive air. Also you can kind of move along at your own pace. If you like stealth horror survival RPG games you're going to love this. I'm only playing on the default difficulty but there are two higher difficulties which I can't even imagine. This game is a steal at 30 bucks.
I bought it and It is so great I just can’t stop playing. So immersive-thanks for your review! It helped me a lot!
Actually a pretty casual experience, all things considered. The stage by stage gameplay makes going in and out of the game easy unlike most FPS games that gives you a big continuous action story.
I just hate how limited the types of enemies are. The combat got repetitive really quick.
Thanks for this. I'm currently downloading Chernobylite while I check you vid. Looks great, looking forward to the immersion :)
Excited to see this coming to console. It gave me a Fallout vibe before you even mentioned it but like a FPS version of the old top down Fallouts mix with some Fallout 4 settlements vibes.
I was exploring the abandoned pool and happened to pull up some photos on Google and it is basically IDENTICAL! They copied every little scratch on the wall. Paint chipping in the exact same places as the real thing. I expected it to look like the real thing but I did not expect them to get every detail down to the Chips in paint or which tiles are missing in the pool. As someone who obsessed with the Chernobyl disaster this is a must play!!
Ye, they actually went there and Scanned the environment and used Photogrammetry to put it in the game :)
When I saw the kick starter for this last year I was so excited for this to release! And now that it’s here it looks amazing, nice review! I’m currently trying to decide if I should buy on PC now or wait until it releases on PS5
It's got a really awesome MGS5 mission feel to it, with a home base and facilities and settlement building like from MGS5 and Fallout 4. Enjoying it since I bought it on sale this week!
MGS5 but you can actually do things at mother base
I was wondering if anyone made this connection. Haven't played Chernobylite yet but everything about it looks similar to mgs5 and I loved that game.
I'm playing it finally. And I'm loving it. I kinda hope we can get a second game or at least another form of game like this.
I just finally played and beat it as well. Since I’ve been waiting for STALKER figured this game would be close enough to it to scratch that itch but I didn’t expect to actually like it so much. Wish it was longer

I've been genuinely looking forward to this game for a multitude of reasons. I've been strict with myself with not buying new games unless I'm ready to play them, as my backlog is HUGE, thankfully managing to work my way through them. So I think I would be fine with treating myself to this and throwing all other games to the side for a while to get immersed in this.
This was a great review too, you explained it perfectly without even coming close to spoiler territory, which I think for this kind of game is important, going in blind and having that awe. Cheers man
I feel you on this 🤣 I have 179 digital games on my ps4 and I've beat maybe 15-20 🤣
I just finished this game. I found it pretty easy and didn’t die til around the end but I was on normal difficulty. I think it’s a fantastic game, the characters and story is great!!!!
hows the gunplay and combat?
try insane and you might feel differently. Jk aside its a good game to play before stalker 2 or new metro
This game is dripping in the same vibe I got when I first played Metro: Last Light all the way back in 2012; and that went on to be one of my favourite games ever, as well as one my favourite video series.
So let's just say Chernobylite was calling to me.
It’s nice to see a kickstarter deliver to those who pledged their hard earned money and it seems they delivered on their rewards as well.
After playing Subnautica below zero recently and falling in love with survival games I've had to get this for myself for Xmas, can't wait to play it x
Just been waiting for your BYB! Thanx Jake. Definitely looking into getting this.
i’m 6 hours in and i’m not usually into these sort of games ( probably far cry 4 is the closest i got to this genre ). but oh my goodness this will probably be my best purchase on steam

I picked this up a week before release and am very much enjoying it. And it will scare the shit out of u when u least expect it. It's worth it
Really loved this game, it's fun, tense, the story is awesome, has a lot of replayabilty. Also, the devs keep adding content to the game to this day!
Is it a scary game?
Just playing this game, and for a small team, this is a fantastic game.
Many Kickstarter games gone horribly wrong, but not this one.
This was a good review. Been watching Raptor play it, and I'm definitely getting it after New Worl beta comes to an end for something to play before it launches ;)

Not sure why, but with the videos I've watched of this game - I got vibes back to Singularity which was a great and underated game imo. Hoping it might be a good one to dive into.

I've been playing since the EA but launch didn't feel like it added much from the last EA build but none the less it's still fun just wish they did a good QoL pass before release. The story and the interview of their real life trip to chernobyl was cool. I can't help but fill like farm 51 just released it so they can focus on ww3 sadly I don't think their will be alot of big dlc
They actually photo scanned different areas of chernobyle and that's what's making it so immerssive it's like your out there walking for real love this game
Chernobyl was one of the most interesting places I have ever been, so very surreal.

This game looks awesome and I'm very excited for it
You guys are honestly the only people I can trust with honest game reviews
Looks fun. I really like these sorts of games, so long as the survival aspect isn't too heavy. Minecraft is fun, but I'm never trying to build everything, just a nice little cabin in the mountains. Or a glass palace in the sky...
The way you explained the gameplay with the missions, it sounds like metro exodus for me and I really enjoyed that game. So I'm most likely gonna pick this up sometime soon
I bought this game the second it released on Steam. I'm about 2 hours in and I'm absolutely LOVING it. It absolutely NAILS the feeling on the wastelands of Chernobyl.

Release: *PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 7, 2021, with a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S version coming later that year.*
FOR CONSOLE PLAYERS I understand if something is laggy on pc it's Usually your pc but on console the game should be optimized for the console I played it on ps4 and Xbox seris s it will run okay but as soon as you get into a gun fight it becomes a bit choppy not unplayable but choppy this would be a massive issue but luckily it's more of a stealth game with only brief gunfights when this is an issue is when the "boss" attacks you it can mess you up sometimes and get you killed
Edit: also the leaves can be a bit ugly and laggy at times due to their dynamic movment and that they change transparency when you're inside the bush but if your console is clean and runs well shouldn't be an issue
Too late, already bought. ESO been posting play videos and I was intrigued. I have not yet beaten it, but I have enjoyed this gem. It is not a genre I normally play, but that may change.

I’m a huge Metro fan, and this game looks similar. I’m excited to give it a try
It's easier than metro but with a far richer sci-fi story. The ending will definitely confuse the crap out of some people but seriously for its price it's an amazingly good indie game.
Looks good for a Kickstarter!! Wish more had good releases I think I’m gonna pick this up
Chernobylite is a real thing. Basicly it's everything that was in and under the reactor, it's a very rare substance only created during reactor meltdowns. It's related to the infamous Elephants foot.
Big Metro fan here. This looks cool but I'm worried the split focus of RPG/Survival/Strategy will make it just ok and not outstanding in any of them. The base stuff, while the concept is great I find this becomes a hassle in games, not sure this will be for me after all if that is a big thing. I was just excited to get immersed in this setting that I love as a big Metro fan. I'll see what the feedback is which will probably be that tipping point of giving it a chance or passing it up.
