Hikaru can have a lost position through 30 moves and still enjoy a comfortable advantage

Believe it or not, it actually would have helped. I know Grischuk would obviously take any piece that Nakamura promoted, but when Naka promoted to a bishop, even if Grischuk didn't take, it would still be a draw (opp colored bishop + endpawn = draw). Promoting to a bishop is atually the worst piece because it will end up in a draw no matter what. So I'm not sure why he promoted to a bishop - for show I guess. I know they are all technically the same (at their level), but I'm answering ur dumb q.

Because he will lose his queen anyway, with a bishop and the king is not possible win.

  • @56theincredible

at 10:08 that is actually against the rules, the pawn must be moved to the promotion square and then the pawn should be replaced by the piece.

In the 18th Century if people were playing a match with multiple games they sometimes kept to one colour throughout, and took turns to move first.
