Re-Scoring of: McLintock Comanche Court Scene [Revised]

I composed this trailer score for The Indie Gathering's 2020 Scene Scoring Competition. For the competition they gave out the original scene with the dialogue and asked us to re-score it with our own original music. For my re-scoring I received the 2nd place award and will be accepting it live in March of 2021.
When composing this score I thought a lot about creating something that felt genuine to the style. I took a lot of inspiration from Copeland's music, as he is the original founder of the American western sound. With this in mind, I used a lot of quartal harmony and an abstracted 20th century form of tonality. I also made sure I used a lot of brass and high strings combined with a lot of woodwind doubling.
The only changes between this revised version and the one I submitted are virtual instrument mic placements and MIDI editing (which I didn't have time to do when I was cramming for the deadline). Nothing too dramatic.

The people, any people, will always need protection from their government. The purpose of any government is self service only.

A great lesson in why American citizens have the constitutional right to bear arms - to protect themselves from the government !
And yet, never dare to use them.... even when you have a corrupt government.
You do have a right as individuals to bare arms, especially in summer when it's really hot.

The hypocrites who make love of weapons an article of faith are the same ones who slaughtered the Native Americans and the blacks in our history. No good ever came from arming a civilian population.
@@yabonjin That is so very true. In addition the problem with this so called right to bear arms is that it is about individual rights, but it ignores the rights of the larger population of people. There are more guns in this country then any other developed country in the world and most undeveloped countries. The result of this "armed to the teeth" mentality among developed countries is the highest murder rate, one of the highest suicide rates and the highest rate of child death and injury in the world. The massive number of guns in America has meant that a lot of guns make it across the border resulting in the horrendous death rate in Mexico from drug gangs fighting for control.
Guns are destroying this country (and Mexico) from within and yet all some people can think about is their rate to own a gun.
And what is even more absurd is that many of those gun right advocates are Christians!! Where is the concern for the thousands killed and injured by guns from the GUN OWNERS??

Men who chooses to be treated like "widows and orphans" are not men. That is what the Comanche says. So today when these men beg to be cared for liike women and children I look at them with great disappointment.

This was understood at the time it was written to mean an organized body of fighting men, not lunatics acting on their own. If you want to control your government, you don't need guns. Get involved in politics and elect people who will protect your rights as citizens.
Really? I always thought it said to arm bears to make it a fair fight. Sad the way of western european man. Not all but many went along with this “manifest destiny” I wonder what the One True God had to say about that?
Have to care enough about each other's rights to do more than merely import intact the old-country culture they had fled from in emigrating to start their lives anew here.

It's always silly to see someone speak as if the Native Americans weren't pagans behaving like savages...committing such acts as ritual sacrifice, cannibalism, animal worship, village wide drug use in pagan rituals, etc, etc...
A superior culture came and forced them into a more civilized state. I don't pity them, we showed them mercy by leaving any of them alive.

Have the white man all you want but the reality is that they did spare Indian lives. Just look at what happened to the Aztec when the Spanish arrived.
More Aztec(and other tribes) died from European diseases brought by the Spaniards than from Spanish arms
And in Australia and NZ with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait and Maori native peoples there was many destroyed and few saved Many sad stories where colonisation has happened

Today Russia is fighting Ukraine. Seems it is how we are. We have to prepare ourselves for life. Seems those that goof off in their youth cry unfair in their time of crisis. Children prepare yourself. Death has no mercy.
