I so remember this movie, it brings tears to my eyes that our world is not as it was then. The trumpets playing sounds so good. Now none of the cast is still alive. May they all rest in peace. Greg-Phoenix
This is in my collection with other great movies of the times. Sure wish the world was still that way. At 65 years old I can say for sure that I've live in better times. I think we lost something along the way. Hope someday it's found again before it's too late.
I absolutely Love this Movie! I grew up watching it with my family! Ricky Nelson is soooo adorable he's my favorite Artist❤ so glad I have wonderful memories watching him with Dino and the Duke! Perfect cast! Perfect story! Doesn't get any better a true classic! One of the if not THE best Western film ever made!
My Dad's favorite Duke movie. Walter Brennan, Rick Nelson, and Dean Martin. My Dad always goes on about the stellar job Martin did acting as the sauced up sheriff.
Isso é que se pode chamar de FILME, que marcou uma época.. Que saudade deste tempo de "ouro" Obrigado John Wayne, Dean Martim bem como todos que participaram deste filme ,pois este nunca foi superado. Walter Effgen - Brasil (* 28/07/1939)
i watched this movie when it came out and i remember rick nelson and walter brennan sing a little diddie then dean martin sucked in a breath and sang my rifle my pony and me. no comparison. dean martin had the best pipes in the business. we've lost all four of these entertainers and they'll never be replaced. today's actors are ok but can't hold a candle to these four.
This movie made Angie Dickinson my ultimate vintage babe. She's not a damsel in distress, but she also doesn't necessarily have it all together. You see her flaws (as you do with every character in the movie). But man, is she soooo gorgeous.
@JuanMacready Crap movie! Yeah, it's about a man that didn't want any help as apposed to a sniveling coward who was petrified but still faced his fears. This is a legendary western with Dino and the Duke in it, and it doesn't get any better than that. Except if Elvis would have taken the part of Colorado that he was offered before Ricky Nelson!
Dan - Elvis was the greatest, but unfortunately he (or his manager, the Colonel) never knew how to choose the correct type of movies for him...Except for "GI Blues", and maybe "Flaming star", the rest were sheer fiascos...
I have this on DVD with commentary by a couple of noted critics. Their commentary was ironic in spots, particularly when they were spouting off about minorities were always treated as caricatures in Wayne's movies.. They babbled this right over the scene where Carlos, played by Pedro Gonzales Gonzales is politely but firmly telling off his friend the Sheriff. They also fail to mention that he is the only resident that shows up to support the sheriff at the showdown. They also miss Pedro's movements in the background when Colorado and the Sheriff brace the crooked gambler -- Pedro's right hand goes under his vest, where a gun would be, and stays there until the action is over. Carlos had fangs and cojones.

Good vídeo. I have seen this filme many times.
Good ole Claude Akins could always be counted on to give a solid performance as a heavy!

This was a good movie , but to close to a remake of el dorado which was better in my opinion
You know this movie came out first right
Almost as good as The Searchers.
