Satay - again you can find these at night markets/stalls by the roadside 6. Chilli Pan Mee 7. Chicken/Beef Rendang - you can eat it with rice, or if you're lucky enough you can eat it with Lemang (sticky rice soaked with coconut juice and heated up in bamboo sticks) 8. Apam Balik - dessert 9. Malaysian or "Malay" food is more available at Kampung Bharu which is not that far from Bukit Bintang. Malaysia is really diverse there is a huge Malay, Chinese, Indian populations and have a big population of Thai, Arabs, Bangladeshi, Indonesian immigrants as well. So the food u saw in Bukit Bintang its a mixture. U can see Thai, Chinese, some Malay & Indian restaurants, etc.
I have been KL 5 times and love KLCC Park. You were eating in Jalan Alor in Bukit Bitang area. KL is definitely my favourite city that I have travelled but I'm not a fan of shopping malls even though they look nice and modern
@@brothersman524 tbh in my perspective, Malaysians enjoy shopping mall alot since as you already know, Malaysia is hot as hell. And malls are the shelter from these heat, including myself who hides in these malls when its hot😭

That’s only KL that have lots of malls. Malaysia have more place to visit. Come to: 1-Terengganu + Kelantan (Beach and Batik) 2-Sabah Sarawak (Crystal Blue Island) 3-Pahang (Cameron Higlands has cold farming area and Genting Highlands is for casino/ lesisure/ theme park things. the temperature is around 17-18degree during night) 4. Kedah (Paddy field) 5. discover it yourself haha. that’s just part of it. u can easily travel by state in Malaysia.Once u in KL, u can travel interstate using bus/flight. Lot more countries to visit that has more heritage/cultural site, different weather, more nature and not all revolves around malls.

Kuala Lumpur is probably the most developed and organized capital city in South East Asia. Travelers who just do stopovers would not have enough information. Jalan alor is mix of vietnamese, thai and malaysian food. Some western food too. So up to you to choose. It is not specifically all malaysian food. But do not forget there are thai malaysian communities here. So it is not surprising to find thai food. For authentic malaysian food. 1. China town - chinese food 2. Brickfields - indian food 3. Kampung baru - malay food I am not sure how much spicy you can eat, you can try it. Most food in malaysia can be spicy because of chilli and curry.
Being in Malaysia i havent seen you try any Malaysian dish. For breakfast you should try roti canai, our national dish called nasi lemak, drink Teh Tarik, nasi kandar. There's a 24 hr mamak restaurant near petronas tower called PELITA. Should try also cheese naan or garlic naan with tandoori chicken. Enjoy your trip. We have something quite similar but not the same to pad thai. Its called Char Kueh Tiaw. Do a bit of research on food to eat when in Malaysia so that you wont miss out on our unque cuisine as Malaysia is a melting pot of 3 big races ie. Chinese, Indian and Malays.

i like budget tourist that just go with the flow and not just depend on google maps etc., just explore the place and if you're lost, it's part of the adventure, perhaps you'll encounter new places which no tourists came upon before

If you want some malay food, Kak Som in Kampung Baru has nice East Coast Malaysia menus. Great experience too since it has a very original kampung (village) feel in the city. Better come on the afternoon for nasi campur (mixed rice with wide range of dishes to choose). You can find Nasi Kandar Pelita for mamak (indian muslim restaurant) for their famous Nasi Kandar. Try out ayam bawang or daging hitam

Think several people have mentioned the staples but defo try the local Chinese, Indian and Malay food. The first two are different from what you get in the UK (which are mainly Cantonese and North Indian style while in Malaysia it’s more southern Chinese and Indian style with local influence and herbs/spices); Malay food in London isn’t as good and not to mention quite pricey. Well, anything Malaysian in London is usually exorbitant in comparison. For example you can get roti canai at Roti King just next to Paddington station for 6 quid. In Malaysia it’s about 2 ringgit a piece And my biggest pet peeve living in the UK is being served “satay” made from chicken breast with a peanut butter dip. Just no. Try the Malaysian satay and you’ll know what I mean
It's very refreshing to see you young folks visiting Malaysia, the country where I was born but have left long before you guys were even born. The country has changed much but essentially life remains the same; the shopping malls, night markets, the Malaysian spirit, etc. Have a nice time and try to make a trip to the east coast of Malaysia to see a different life style there e.g. Kuala Trengganu, Kota Bharu, etc.

KL , Penang and Malacca are cities that are frequented heavily by foreigners. Sadly foreigners would only know these three.

Yup. it's weird. coffee shop does open late here. the only coffe shop that wil open early are the local kopitiam with local type coffee. grilled stingray is pretty good. though my dad didnt like it. he said it smells. malaysia food include chinese, indian, malay, sabahan, sarawakian food. so, if you've eaten any of those, you've eaten malaysian food.
Pls do try to find some kopitiams... (coffeeshops 😃). PappaRich is a good choice. You'll find an array of local foods mixed harmoniously, like us, the Malaysians. We are Malay, Chinese, Indian, Borneo etc etc etc... WELCOME to MALAYSIA!
Please do experience Malaysia metro lines. The latest lines is MRT line you can find in Bukit Bintang. Don’t forget to go to Batu Caves Temple (hundreds rainbow stairs + gigantic gold statue), go to have Malay foods in Kampung Baru & having night walk at Saloma Bridge/Link (a led colorful bridge linking KLCC area to Kampung Baru).
A very young city ........ Kuala Lumpur's early history started taking shape when the state of Selangor gained eminence in the 16th century as tin deposits, a material much needed by western colonists to build their empire, was found. This brought the Chinese and the Bugis, Malays from Maccassar, into the state's economics and politics. There they established themselves throughout the 18th century, thus forming the Selangor sultanate. Kuala Lumpur (KL) itself was not built yet until 1857 when 87 Chinese tin miners ran up the Klang River and set up a village at the river's muddy confluence. This soon gave birth to the city's name ' Kuala Lumpur ' which means 'muddy confluence? in Malay. The spot where it all began is overlooked today by the city's oldest mosque, Masjid Jamek, built back in 1908. Unfortunately KL burned to the ground a few years later and Yap Ah Loy's Chinatown today has lost much of its original shacks and buildings. Towards the end of Yap Ah Loy's era, the British stepped into the picture in 1874 when a Resident was brought in to stem the fighting amongst the Malays, Chinese and Bugis. 22 years later, during which time the Malay Federated States were formed to consolidate all the Malay states, the British pulled Selangor into the federation and made KL the capital. With that came the beginning of the growth of KL into a mining town of gambling dens and brothels, and of the infamous Chinese clans or secret societies. The continuous fighting amongst these tongs worried the headmen so much that they elected a 'Kapitan Cina? (Malay for Chinese captain), a man named Yap Ah Loy, to establish peace and order. This was the very man venerated as the founding father of KL. KL was to become historically significant again in 1957 when the first Malayan flag was raised on the grounds of the cricket field, known today as Merdeka Square, to mark the independence of the country from British rule

If you visit Malaysia it would be nice to spend 5 days or more to see Sabah and Sarawak. Lots of beautiful islands for diving and snorkelling, crystal clear waters in Sabah, delicious local food and friendly people. You can take a direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Tawau, stay a night or two, enjoy the cheap fresh seafood, visit Tawau Hills Park at Table waterfalls for the hotsprings and clear rivers. Then after few days head to Semporna town ( 1 hour drive) which is like a pit stop before going to the many islands ( Mabul, Sipadan etc) for World class diving or just chilling at their resorts. Often so many tourist only stop at Kuala lumpur for few days but they always missed out on the hidden gem of Borneo East Malaysia which is Sabah and Sarawak.
I worked in Bangsar Viena Coffee shop for 5 years and so lovely the food...that time just done the twin tower in Ampang which is nice, its so hot weather, its nice to have holiday to scape a winter...enjoy exploring...
It's not a night market, it's a food street where the tables spread out at night. There is local cuisine but overwhelmed by foreign exotica. A true night market will also sell goods, not just food. Connaught night market, longest is worth a visit, 6-11pm. MRT & feeder bus only Wed nights. Other nights elsewhere in other neighbourhoods. Enjoy your stay. Hope you visit Sabah/ Sarawak too.
I have to say that Jln. Alor nowadays have been a bit of a scam. Instead of offering mostly Malaysian food, lots of stalls and restaurants there offer Thai and Vietnamese food. No offence but they’re great for locals like me since we can’t go off to Thailand to eat Thai food in a snap of the finger or Vietnamese food too. But for tourists like yourself, it would be a great experience to come to Malaysia and eat actual Malaysian food. For that, I think Kampung Baru is the best place for Malay food. East Malaysian food is best in their place of origin. Even in KL itself, they get some tweaking sometimes because the ingredients aren’t easily available or sometimes tweaked to suit the local taste especially the “kolok mi (mee?)”. Chinese and Indian food are easy to find.
Malaysia has a variety of cultures and foods, all kind of foods you eat here are Malaysian version of everything. Thai, Chinese, Indian and Western.. it have been remade to suit the taste of the locals and taste better i guess.. Since we are multi race nation.. we share the same foods, thoughts and language.
I'm malaysian living in kl suburbs but somehow i can't believed you get a hotel in city centre for 50myr?! I mean 100 is already affordable enough in a big city like kl but 50 is just unbeliveable hahahahah and yeah the 2nd tallest building in the world is still under construction and planned to be open later this year, it will feature tallest glass elevator in the world, tallest observation deck in the world and ofcourse very big mall, 8 floors of mall as a perspective

I have been KL 5 times and love KLCC Park. You were eating in Jalan Alor in Bukit Bitang area. KL is definitely my favourite city that I have travelled but I'm not a fan of shopping malls even though they look nice and modern

That’s only KL that have lots of malls. Malaysia have more place to visit. Come to:
1-Terengganu + Kelantan (Beach and Batik)
2-Sabah Sarawak (Crystal Blue Island)
3-Pahang (Cameron Higlands has cold farming area and Genting Highlands is for casino/ lesisure/ theme park things. the temperature is around 17-18degree during night)
4. Kedah (Paddy field)
5. discover it yourself haha. that’s just part of it. u can easily travel by state in Malaysia.Once u in KL, u can travel interstate using bus/flight.
Lot more countries to visit that has more heritage/cultural site, different weather, more nature and not all revolves around malls.

Kuala Lumpur is probably the most developed and organized capital city in South East Asia. Travelers who just do stopovers would not have enough information. Watch Jetlag Warriors, Ken Abroad, and about a dozen more youtube channels to learn more. Stopovers dont make justice. Btw Kuala Lumpur has 3 times more new skyscrapers than Singapore. Peace 😉

Jalan alor is mix of vietnamese, thai and malaysian food. Some western food too. So up to you to choose. It is not specifically all malaysian food. But do not forget there are thai malaysian communities here. So it is not surprising to find thai food.
For authentic malaysian food.
1. China town - chinese food
2. Brickfields - indian food
3. Kampung baru - malay food
I am not sure how much spicy you can eat, you can try it. Most food in malaysia can be spicy because of chilli and curry.
Being in Malaysia i havent seen you try any Malaysian dish. For breakfast you should try roti canai, our national dish called nasi lemak, drink Teh Tarik, nasi kandar. There's a 24 hr mamak restaurant near petronas tower called PELITA. Should try also cheese naan or garlic naan with tandoori chicken. Enjoy your trip. We have something quite similar but not the same to pad thai. Its called Char Kueh Tiaw. Do a bit of research on food to eat when in Malaysia so that you wont miss out on our unque cuisine as Malaysia is a melting pot of 3 big races ie. Chinese, Indian and Malays.
I suggest trying roti chennai. Less than RM2. With a teh tarik your breakfast will be less than RM4.

If you want some malay food, Kak Som in Kampung Baru has nice East Coast Malaysia menus. Great experience too since it has a very original kampung (village) feel in the city. Better come on the afternoon for nasi campur (mixed rice with wide range of dishes to choose). You can find Nasi Kandar Pelita for mamak (indian muslim restaurant) for their famous Nasi Kandar. Try out ayam bawang or daging hitam

Think several people have mentioned the staples but defo try the local Chinese, Indian and Malay food. The first two are different from what you get in the UK (which are mainly Cantonese and North Indian style while in Malaysia it’s more southern Chinese and Indian style with local influence and herbs/spices); Malay food in London isn’t as good and not to mention quite pricey.
Well, anything Malaysian in London is usually exorbitant in comparison. For example you can get roti canai at Roti King just next to Paddington station for 6 quid. In Malaysia it’s about 2 ringgit a piece
And my biggest pet peeve living in the UK is being served “satay” made from chicken breast with a peanut butter dip. Just no. Try the Malaysian satay and you’ll know what I mean

The latest lines is MRT line you can find in Bukit Bintang. Don’t forget to go to Batu Caves Temple (hundreds rainbow stairs + gigantic gold statue), go to have Malay foods in Kampung Baru & having night walk at Saloma Bridge/Link (a led colorful bridge linking KLCC area to Kampung Baru).
A very young city ........ Kuala Lumpur's early history started taking shape when the state of Selangor gained eminence in the 16th century as tin deposits, a material much needed by western colonists to build their empire, was found. This brought the Chinese and the Bugis, Malays from Maccassar, into the state's economics and politics. There they established themselves throughout the 18th century, thus forming the Selangor sultanate.
Kuala Lumpur (KL) itself was not built yet until 1857 when 87 Chinese tin miners ran up the Klang River and set up a village at the river's muddy confluence. This soon gave birth to the city's name ' Kuala Lumpur ' which means 'muddy confluence? in Malay. The spot where it all began is overlooked today by the city's oldest mosque, Masjid Jamek, built back in 1908.
Unfortunately KL burned to the ground a few years later and Yap Ah Loy's Chinatown today has lost much of its original shacks and buildings.
Towards the end of Yap Ah Loy's era, the British stepped into the picture in 1874 when a Resident was brought in to stem the fighting amongst the Malays, Chinese and Bugis. 22 years later, during which time the Malay Federated States were formed to consolidate all the Malay states, the British pulled Selangor into the federation and made KL the capital.
With that came the beginning of the growth of KL into a mining town of gambling dens and brothels, and of the infamous Chinese clans or secret societies. The continuous fighting amongst these tongs worried the headmen so much that they elected a 'Kapitan Cina? (Malay for Chinese captain), a man named Yap Ah Loy, to establish peace and order. This was the very man venerated as the founding father of KL.
KL was to become historically significant again in 1957 when the first Malayan flag was raised on the grounds of the cricket field, known today as Merdeka Square, to mark the independence of the country from British rule

If you visit Malaysia it would be nice to spend 5 days or more to see Sabah and Sarawak. Lots of beautiful islands for diving and snorkelling, crystal clear waters in Sabah, delicious local food and friendly people.
You can take a direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Tawau, stay a night or two, enjoy the cheap fresh seafood, visit Tawau Hills Park at Table waterfalls for the hotsprings and clear rivers.
Then after few days head to Semporna town ( 1 hour drive) which is like a pit stop before going to the many islands ( Mabul, Sipadan etc) for World class diving or just chilling at their resorts.
Often so many tourist only stop at Kuala lumpur for few days but they always missed out on the hidden gem of Borneo East Malaysia which is Sabah and Sarawak.
We plan on visiting Sabah, and Sarawak early next year, stay tuned!! :)

It's not a night market, it's a food street where the tables spread out at night. There is local cuisine but overwhelmed by foreign exotica. A true night market will also sell goods, not just food. Connaught night market, longest is worth a visit, 6-11pm. MRT & feeder bus only Wed nights. Other nights elsewhere in other neighbourhoods. Enjoy your stay. Hope you visit Sabah/ Sarawak too.

I have to say that Jln. Alor nowadays have been a bit of a scam. Instead of offering mostly Malaysian food, lots of stalls and restaurants there offer Thai and Vietnamese food. No offence but they’re great for locals like me since we can’t go off to Thailand to eat Thai food in a snap of the finger or Vietnamese food too. But for tourists like yourself, it would be a great experience to come to Malaysia and eat actual Malaysian food. For that, I think Kampung Baru is the best place for Malay food. East Malaysian food is best in their place of origin. Even in KL itself, they get some tweaking sometimes because the ingredients aren’t easily available or sometimes tweaked to suit the local taste especially the “kolok mi (mee?)”. Chinese and Indian food are easy to find.

I'm malaysian living in kl suburbs but somehow i can't believed you get a hotel in city centre for 50myr?! I mean 100 is already affordable enough in a big city like kl but 50 is just unbeliveable hahahahah and yeah the 2nd tallest building in the world is still under construction and planned to be open later this year, it will feature tallest glass elevator in the world, tallest observation deck in the world and ofcourse very big mall, 8 floors of mall as a perspective
