Put mine on a dark brown alligator strap from DeLug. Took it up a few levels. But I don’t recommend doing that because it will get expensive going down that road. On the other hand, it’s a lot cheaper than buying new watches.
Loved the video Teddy! I believe that Bulova should get some coverage especially with their Precisionist movement. As always thanks for the fantastic content👍👍
I have the Grand Seiko SBGE285 Mistflake, and it’s by far my most worn watch. It’s sporty bu understated and elegant with its all grey presentation. Also, the spring drive movement is truly incredible: it is rated at +/- 1 second per day, but in my experience, it’s much closer to +/- 1 second per week. A fantastic watch.
Would love to see this for France. They have so many brands that died and were born again that it could be very interesting. They have a lot of independants that are doing proprietary movements, luxury pieces are top notch. There might be a good range here :)
Hi Teddy & team, One suggestion to make a video on best watches for wrist sizes! Eg : For 7 inch wrist size here are the options of Everyday, Diver and Dress watch, best options with how each watch looks on a 7 inch wrist. And so on and so forth for a 6.5 inch wrist, a 6 inch wrist etc etc…
Really great stuff, covering a lot of ground. Would add some more Citizen - Zenshin series, NB1050 (JDM but easy to buy), Series 8. These seem kind of slept-on compared to the Promaster line.
My Casio Duro is over 10 years old and I have taken it all over the world in salt water, rain, freezing temps, etc. Beat the crap out of it, yet all I do is change batteries and straps. That thing has to be the best beater, do everything watch made.
Teddy = as usual a much deeper dive into watches than I normally would want, but an excellent video. I happen to own a couple of these, Citizen and Seiko.
I have to say that each time I watch one of your videos, I am more and more impressed by your fund of knowledge and quick delivery. If you were a guitarist, we'd call you Teddy Van Halen )))
A few Citizens that should have been included- the Promaster Land JV1007-07, super cool anadigi. Promaster ecodrive diver BN-0### series, best value genuine divers on the market. The Series 8 GMT. Considering the depth Teddy went into with Seiko, very surprised Citizen didnt get equal exposure with these watches, at least. Then there's 'The Citizen' (Chronomaster). Where was that? Bit biased, Teddy.
Nice video. Would like to see The Citizen amongst the upper tier. They've caught my eye with performance and looks and fit in the upper tier Japanese options with GS.
I got a Orient mechanical watch and wear it everyday. I have been very suprised with how accurate it is for a entry level mechanical watch. I pretty much only need to re adjust the time when the days on my day date get out of sync with the actual days of the month.
Yeah, my old Ray II is still +/- 4s a day. That's well within the COSC chronometer standard; the only difference is that compared to an Omega, there's more variability depending on the state of wind, temp, position etc. But still, the Orient F6522 is like the final answer to "I just want a watch that works", it hacks, it's accurate, it's got a date and day function. If you went Swiss, how many more hundreds if not thousand of dollars would you need to spend to get something that did exactly the same thing?
I love the Seiko solar an Citizen eco drive formats for the simplicity of using the sun to power the watch. My Citizen gained 1 second in 2 months. That is what I have a watch on my wrist for.
I know this video probably took a while to put together, but it was awesome. And would love more of these. Especially an elegant/dress watch version. Much love Teddy!
Great video as always, enjoyed it.. Citizen deserved more spots as there are many otger models that should've been mentioned. 1- Series 8 GMT 2- The Citizen (Chronomaster) 3- Citizen Caliber 0200/0210 Those are definitely worth a mention. The 0200 is on par with the Grand Seiko in terms of finishing and quality, if not better in certain areas. The Chronomasters are definitely a great watches and finishing is top notch. Series 8 GMT and Divers are one of the best for the money.
From Kuoe website: "Taking its name from the Sombrero Galaxy, which is said to be the most beautiful place in space, the SOMBRERO 90-011 is KUOE's first diver style design to date" Wishing all watch lovers a wonderful 2025 ✌🏽
Woke up to this after deciding which of my Japanese sports watches to wear....and all were mentioned in the video; my Duro, Casioak, GWM5610, Kamasu, and my recently ordered field GMT Seiko 5. Couldn't start a collection on a budget without Japanese timepieces. Next one I want is the King Turtle, the Alpinist ...and my eventual grail watch is a Grand Seiko.
Great vid. Yeah Germany would be great. Favorite Japanese sports watch?…….honestly, the much ignored SARX089. A nice case and bracelet with super hardening, still run of the mill, but a dial that rivals just about every other red/burgundy dial on the market.
Funny how you have only three Casio models but a ton of Seikos. Yet if you were to examine all the Casio sub models they make literally dozens of really good extremely affordable sports watches, including Oceanus for well under $1000.
I'm kind of thankful that these watch influencers are totally clueless about the higher end Orient Star and The Citizen, so we can still buy them at a resonable price.
I have a 9F model and would love to be able to see the movement, even if there's no visible "movement" to it. One thing I've thought about is how the 9F uses a temperature guage to help regulate that incredible accuracy. I wonder if a sapphire caseback would interfere with heating/cooling inside the case more than the standard steel caseback does.
Just noting in the comments, i agree there's a bit of a lack of Casio Oceanus etc..but I think Teddy naturally focused on international models, not JDM ones...Given you feature it , as an aside I wish Casio would listen to its customers & make a Duro in 40mm instead of the original or mistep of the downspeced itty-bitty one😉
I am planning on buying Grand Seiko White birch but worried about not being able to find parts in order to service this watch in the long run, do you think this would be an issue with grand seiko as they don’t produce many watches like omega and Rolex where they always have parts available?
I own a good portion of Seikos & especially Citizen eco. Citizens have many complications to them but bangle it well so far. Just don't keep them in a sock in you're drawer for five yrs.
GS spring drive at 30:17 has idiotic 72 clicks on the 24 hour bezel giving 1 hour and 20 and 40 minute time zones while there are no 20 or 40 minute zones anywhere. Please try to get it across to them that there must be either 48 or even better 96 clicks which would give 30 and 15 minute zones used in countries like India and Nepal. I have tried to contact GS but they response is "we do not take designs advice from outsiders"...
I don't "hate" quartz. My passion for watches is the mechanics without any external power source. No electricity needed. This simple connection of winding my watch to power up a spring is what does it for me. I wouldn't call it hate, just a preference in an appreciation for something that's better around for centuries. I think the spring drive is incredible, but when I purchase a GS, it's most likely going to be the high beat. Not out of any kind of snobbery, but I guess I appreciate the fundamentals more. Not to say that the spring drive isn't absolutely awesome and no, you don't need a battery. Maybe it's just a purest point of view. But then again, that's silly since I'm a novice so I don't know.
I have a question, I'm still new into watches, and there are conflicting opinions on where to wear it. I tend to wear my watch on my wrist, not above it. What's your opinion and reasoning for why you wear it differently?
If you think paying thousands of dollars for a Seiko is insane Casio sells G-Shock MRG series at around $5000 depending where you live in the world If you have loyal customers You can sell them anything at any price
Japan is so good at so many things...🎉 I love Grand Seiko, its a dream of mine to own one
I do and Citizen makes me happier
@@Hamilton-m2hI’ve got a “Citizen” eco drive that is still my favorite , and it still gets compliments !
Buy used. Chrono24 or even exquisitetimepieces. Can be had for about $2200.
As a new watch buyer. Japanese are better made. Yet Swiss better brand name ?
I know there’s a lot into that question. 5k grand seiko better made than 5k Swiss. Omega? Tough question
Love Grand Seiko, I have a spring drive but hoping to add a high beat to my collection some day
Same. Really want a high-beat GMT next.
try vintage hi beat. cheaper and just as reliable
Samesies. Love em
No Casio Oceanus? No Orient Star? And I'm pretty sure some more expensive Citizen watches could make it to this list
Agreed
@@TheSpiderpig976 probably because teddy is not selling them in his shop haha
It all depends on the Watch Snobs ! It's best to buy what you want !
I have a small seiko collection, one day I'll have a grand seiko ❤
Why is the citezen zenshin/forza not on here? Would love to see a video on the model!
My GS Shunbun is on my wrist 6 days a week. I love it so much. ❤
I have the GS Winter, it’s a stunner
Put mine on a dark brown alligator strap from DeLug.
Took it up a few levels.
But I don’t recommend doing that because it will get expensive going down that road.
On the other hand, it’s a lot cheaper than buying new watches.
Have my Kamasu on right now. It’s a real “go to”favourite, Teddy gets it like I do, not flash, but comfy and accurate.
My collection unintentionally turned into a Japanese curated one and I love it!
Loved the video Teddy!
I believe that Bulova should get some coverage especially with their Precisionist movement.
As always thanks for the fantastic content👍👍
Bulova is great but they're not Japanese, strictly speaking.
Seiko Alpinist GMT in black dial was very nice I really liked that one.. I have nvr seen it in black b4.. Great Vids man!!!!
Same here! I love it as well as the gold and green, but hear me out here, I like it on the steel bracelet
Would love to see this for France. They have so many brands that died and were born again that it could be very interesting. They have a lot of independants that are doing proprietary movements, luxury pieces are top notch. There might be a good range here :)
Heading to japan in January, this video definitely was scheduled perfectly
Japanese watch making, a gem in the industry ❤

That green and white GS 🔥

The literal sweeping hand of the spring drive is something else. If i can get any of the flake and a dive GMT GS, I'm set.
Teddy = as usual a much deeper dive into watches than I normally would want, but an excellent video. I happen to own a couple of these, Citizen and Seiko.

Thanks Teddy. Great episode👍

Casio Duro in sunburst Blue is stunning

Orient movements are insanely good and the time setting feels so solid and satisfying too.

Happy New Year Teddy and team!! My choice is the Grand Seiko GMT SBGN027 in Sapphire.
I love the Seiko solar an Citizen eco drive formats for the simplicity of using the sun to power the watch. My Citizen gained 1 second in 2 months. That is what I have a watch on my wrist for.
Many sweet watches I can’t afford ! lol. It was still fun ! Thanks Teddy !
I know this video probably took a while to put together, but it was awesome. And would love more of these. Especially an elegant/dress watch version. Much love Teddy!

Great video. Thank you.
I have an SRPJ20. Thoughts on this watch? I have another Seiko, SNJ something haha. Love them both. Great video!
Minase. Great choice and I'm glad to see you list it here. This brand is amazing.
I'm really digging the Orient panda 🐼
Nice vid, Knot also is a great mrico brand!
King of watches Grand Seiko
I have an "Orient Sympathy III" automatic with croc strap. Its been a nice looking, reliable dress watch.
I love you Teddy. You’re the boy.
Love the videos, barely getting into the watch game
Great video Teddy. One minor comment - I think you should have included an MRG watch in the luxury sector.
i am more drwan to Japanese branded watches than Swiss. Keep it up !!!
Love my blacked out casioak. Top watch
I have a few Seiko king quartz from back in the seventies, and they run fantastic and look great.
Didn't know you also have a watch oriented channel. Any chance you'll review fragrances again? Your content back then was the best
Hey Teddy, can you have a look at the titanium Citizen Zenshin Chrono, thanks.
Small seconds is an incorrect option for a watch. for 4 hours a day and for 10 minutes every hour, the seconds dial is obscured.
Yes, please, more nations! Especially some that never get discussed. Like does Italy have any brands worth discussing?
I love Japan for three things: The awareness for clean environment in citys, Animes, watches (seiko/citizen/casio)
And cars 😁
And women.
That Minase looks really cool.
Got the GMT of the Seiko SSK023, which is SBSC009 (JDM Exclusive).
Loving it so far, had to give my Tissot PRX Automatic a rest.
Love Seiko and GS. I want an SBGM 221.
My Japanese weapon of choice, probably the citizen series 8 890 ❤
Buy what suits you ! But I must say my Seiko collection is well done. However their are many awesome brands to swallow a bank note.
Yet another comprehensive round up. Teddy, your knowledge is prodigious, well done.
Wasn’t familiar with Credor. The dial on the Locomotive looks magnificent!
Would love to see more country specific sports watch videos.
Love this video.Could you do it for swiss watches also.
So many amazing sports pieces from Japanese manufactures
Great video Teddy

I think it would be fun to hear the breakdown of watches sold in your store:
Automatic vs quartz
Japanese vs Swiss
Both number and total value.
I like that they use the name "Sombrero". It gives it a touch of irony😊
Casio GW M5610U-1
yes, do more :)
Did you ever take a look at the JDM Alpinist in green? It's stunning!
Funny how you have only three Casio models but a ton of Seikos. Yet if you were to examine all the Casio sub models they make literally dozens of really good extremely affordable sports watches, including Oceanus for well under $1000.
Good survey.
Kurono Tokyo. One of my dream Japanese watches
Just got my brand new Rolex, nice seiko bro😂
17:21 I have the SPB381 it’s a home run, best seiko I’ve owned
I'm kind of thankful that these watch influencers are totally clueless about the higher end Orient Star and The Citizen, so we can still buy them at a resonable price.
I am waiting for Seiko to release a 38mm variant of the SSK GMTs. That will be money!!
Grand Seikos needs upgrade their bracelet and especially clasps, they aren't as high quality as their watches
Wearing my $46 Duro while watching this. ❤
I'd buy that Grand Seiko with the pretty 9F movement if it came with a display caseback.

Grand Seiko is such a beast..can easily rival Omega and Rolex tbh
Too much Seiko, too little Casio and Citizen...
I am planning on buying Grand Seiko White birch but worried about not being able to find parts in order to service this watch in the long run, do you think this would be an issue with grand seiko as they don’t produce many watches like omega and Rolex where they always have parts available?
I'd worry about micro brands not Seiko.
No worries. It is their flagship mechanical movement in a mass production watch. It will be used in many other nice dial watches in the future
I own a good portion of Seikos & especially Citizen eco. Citizens have many complications to them but bangle it well so far. Just don't keep them in a sock in you're drawer for five yrs.

Grand seiko makes such beautiful watches. I want to get rich so I can buy their watches ⌚️
Great video! Do German watches next!
Germany pls!

Damn that's a great looking jacket Teddy, where is it from?
My favorite is my SJ093 ❤

The original Duros (MDV106) are going for 130€ retail in Finland. Oh Finland the promised land of exaggerated taxing 😂
No knot watches? They have retail locations all over Japan and make some great watches in their premium line
Imagine when Grand Seiko finally shrink all those sports watches to 38-40mm
If you think paying thousands of dollars for a Seiko is insane Casio sells G-Shock MRG series at around $5000 depending where you live in the world If you have loyal customers You can sell them anything at any price
Is this towards the buyer or the seller😂
@MystoGun650 Both
Grand seiko tentagraph has a coaxial escapement?
How can you miss the newer casioak metal and hybrid versions with tough solar and bluetooth
Why are you still showing the spb143 and not the 453 launched in May 24? Waiting for this review btw.
