You shoulda had over a million years ago. All these other channels fancying things up and overlaying music just to grab attention but not give the info you do. Been here since the beginning. Thank you. You deserve a couple million at this point.
I've been a subscriber for a long time and have taken a lot of your advice and bought your products. I have a question about the Ally 5 setup... I can only get it to work well, if I crank up the CFH to almost 25. Any idea why? I can run it lower, when I use a stubby gas lens #8.
@@weldingtipsandtricks Thanks for the reply. I got the dual flow meter, from you, too. Maybe I'll try the stubby ceramic #6 I have. Would turning my cleaning down, help? I usually use 73 on my Lincoln Tig 200.
It is rare to have such good camera coverage of the BACK SIDE of the welds. Up until this video I really wasn't sure what the reverse side should look like. Thanks Jody.
The MASTER, honing his craft!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Been watching you from day one, JODY!👍im always humbled!😇 Started welding at 18 in Junior college, it stuck and I never turned back! Now in my 60’s, still going strong, but retired and I pick the jobs. Seldom go mobile, has to be for a buddy, or a much larger amount of cash. Happy just burning in the shop. Small jobs now. Problem is my eyes! Even with the cheater in my Optrel and wearing my coke bottle glasses, I don’t see the puddle the same. Find myself relying on muscle memory and the motions that I’ve used over a lifetime. I’m just not seeing what I used to see. Thank the Lord, that I have YOU to help me out and keep me in check!⭐️🙏⭐️
I've been watching these videos since the first time I lit up a rod over 10 years ago. You never miss! Getting my aluminum skills up to par so I can start my own specialized repair and fabrication business, mostly aluminum stuff. This is just what I needed before running a few practice coupons.
Hey there, just wanted to give you a HUGE thanks for all the content you’ve put out for the past 12 years, I’ve take so much away from the skills you’ve learned through your life and displayed in the advice you provide for beginner welders or welders who just want to be kept up to speed. I appreciate everything you have done and continue to do, purchased a Tig finger recently and will be going on to get certified in Mig, Tig Stainless and aluminum. Thank you and God bless!!
Another one Jody! Lots of good information can be taken away from this video. I even saw the review I made, which still holds true to this day! Keep up the good work! 💪
Just started doing ally sheet metal at work. Quite the learning curve moving from mild and stainless. Getting consistent penetration without melting through has taken some time to master. Great video as always.
just want to thank you Jody....you basically learn me how to tig weld alu lately my boss buy a tig so i had to learn fast and thats what i do practicing by day watchin you by night...it takes me 2 months ....im not an artist of the tig loll but i know what i do...lol rest is just practicing
Nice job. When I was a kid going to trade school I got a job working for a company repairing semi trailers at night . That's where I got a chance to learn how yo tig aluminum. That was a long time ago . I appreciate your videos
Im about to compete in skills usa and not too long after will be graduating with a welding degree!Your videos have always been helpful when in a pickle. Thanks!
Thanks Jody for your videos and all the tips. you said crummy makes it look easy but you make it look easy for sure so don’t short change yourself you deserve the million subs for sure great advise on the subject plus all the extra settings and stories of experience helps more than you think I’m just a hobbyist now but i know professional work when i see it great job. Have a good one
I was taught that a bigger cup allows the gas to expand more rapidly... and an expanding gas will rapidly cool, so a smaller cup helps keep the gas compressed longer, thus more heat in the weld
You're right, I watch YT for almost everything and he is the only person with content that makes me do: "Well i'll be damned :O this is some good dookie right here."
I think I learned a lot in this video. Thank you very much! As soon as I can go back to the shop I will make sure to watch my puddle more and let it sink. The AC buzzing always makes me rush my aluminum welds 😅
Thanks for the Video(s) just the right video at the right time as i now have to weld some 1.5mm 1050 Aluminium sheetmetal. Helps a lot on what to pay attention. Watching your Channel for 10 years or so, since i first had acces to a tig welder.
I love all your videos . Great stuff and very informative. In this one I noticed that you held the tungsten vertical to the weld. Was that just the camera angle or another technique ?
Hey Jody another awesome job, thanks so much! Off subject a bit but do you have a video on how to find work for someone just starting out with a buisness? Any advice would help. Thanks again
Thanks for your effort, you make the best videos, my aluminum skills are hit and miss, steel and stainless are acceptable, i wish i had someone local who i could take in person instruction from, no one does night courses anymore.
Love your videos, they've helped me a lot. Was wondering you could do a video on 1/8 7018 overhead T joint, but with the plate configured in sort of an upside down V. Currently what I'm working on in school and having trouble. Probably a bit much to ask, if anyone else who sees this knows of a video that shows stringers and also weaves in this positioning of the plate please let me know 🙂
Hey there, I really appreciate the channel! There is a lot of really good info for beginner/intermediate welders. I was wondering if you might have some advice. I’m using a 20 year old Synchrowave 250 it’s a solid machine and I have pretty much the basics for it. Knowing that you have a lot of experience with welding machines I was hoping for some help in dialing it in. I’m noticing that it really struggles to get a clean good start but about a quarter of the way through a pass it really hits a sweet spot I’m guessing it is because the temp of the material gets up to a nice spot where everything wants to flow but at the tail end of the pass the weld just wants to lay down flat and penetrate almost to the point of distorting my metal. I try to ease of the foot pedal when I notice this happening but my tungsten starts to flicker like I am not maintaining a good enough arc. Any advice on this would be super helpful. Also I was wondering if you have a technique for balling the tungsten (I can do about 3-4 passes before it wants to start balling up). Thanks again! -Mike
Good morning, I'm having alot of issues with setting up the mig on my 210. Burn back issues, weld issues. I'm trying everything but just when I think I have it. It messes up. Can you help me
Me taking notes, ... great instruction video :) What balance setting you you prefer? I put mine mostly around -5 for extra cleaning while welding. I use it almost every time since I'm welding on alluminium that has been badly affected.
I probably use more cleaning than most. I am often around 69-70 but for castings and heavily oxidized aluminum I go down around 65% EN sometimes (35% cleaning)
Can you help me please. Ive watched you since you moved and built your first stronghand fixture table, I bought a mag tab after watching you and a tig finger, and still got em and use em lol. I've got a set of solid cast lower control arms off a car that need extending 30mm. I've made the jig and I've got some old solid cast lower arms the same to cut up and use to add the section then groove out and fill either side to get good penetration but what rod do you think would be best to use to weld them up and would you tig or stick weld them? Will they be strong enough welded with the right rod or would they really need heat treating after? Its not used on the road so there's no safety worry I just don't want them cracking through using the wrong filler rod. I know your busy but can you please help as your the best man on here that knows what he's talking about and got plenty of common sense unlike alot of people doing videos on utube. Thanks
Hi mr jody, can you make welding tutorial for Fillet joint almunium with thickness 1.0 mm (sheet) + 0.889 mm (tube) using specification AWS D17. 1 where the leg size minimum must be more than 1.5 x e and leg size maximum less than 2 x leg size minimum. Filler material (dilution) must be insert to material minimum 10 % with no suckback/melthru on the sheet and tube. Thank you for your response
I’ve been tigging for 30+ years and have always sharpened to 3/1 taper on tungsten. Any benefits to your approx 1/1 taper on your tungsten? Very curious!!!
Literally just did my test on a 10ga 3G butt joint for aerospace the other week 🙃 lmao, this video would have been perfect for all the practice i was doing prior lol. good stuff tho 👍
that sounds like a lot for a #5 cup. I am usually around 15Cfh 20 tops. I would suggest checking all connections and torch o rings to make sure you are not sucking air
we need a video in the best environment for not contaminating the weld allot don’t know, an open window can spoil a weld A breeze you can’t feel can spoil a weld ate there machine settings to combat this? also, how should a weld look from behind?
I was killing it on my Aluminum weld tests until I ran into a 20 gauge aluminum butt joint. This thing is giving me hell. I can do a 20 gauge t joint no problem
I always say that if you don't understand the theory, settings, and the mechanics of things like arc force, heat sinks, and direction/frequency of electrical flow you aren't welding, you're just guessing! (and everyone gets lucky sometimes!) Welding is 90% prep, but GTAW is 99% prep once you get the machine variables and consumables factored in. Great video!
I am a Delta mechanic learning to weld. I was told by dept 402 to come to this channel and learn from the best welder Delta Airlines has ever had.
I passed my TSSA 6G carbon and stainless tests!! Thanks to your Videos! I truly appreciate your channel!! Thanks from Ontario Canada!!🇨🇦
thats great! best of luck with your career

Thanks for sharing Jody. Great job welding the aluminum. It was interesting and entertaining too. Stay safe and keep up the good work. Fred.
