Including scenes from Pretty Princess, Becky's favorite show in Wordgirl, and that's understandable because it's just as funny! Wordgirl belongs to PBS
The hat-eating warden never stopped being funny. Exposition Guy got a little old, but then came back around to being funny, once they started hanging lampshades on his whole bit.
Lampshade hanging is a writing technique wherein the trope or gag is diegetically made explicit and/or made fun of. It demonstrates to the audience that the writers are aware of the absurdity of what's happening, or of a joke getting old, by pointing it out within the story itself. In this case, Word Girl hangs a lampshade on Exposition Guy's shtick of never knowing where the police station is so that he always happens to give Becky relevant plot information, saying it's just "his thing." He later hangs a lampshade on himself when he calmly finishes his meal and announces that he's about to do what he's known for, which undercuts his apparent panic when he starts flailing his arms and yelling for help. This often has the effect of making the situation seem even more absurd, and can usually mess with audiences' suspension of disbelief. But this is Word Girl we're talking about, a show that points out its own tropes and breaks the fourth wall all the time. Overt lampshading by the characters within the story is a fairly common occurrence, one the show usually uses to great effect.
That's what happens when you get good writers and actors on a show and restrict them to child friendly writing. The cast is comprised of a lot of really talented people, including John H Benjamin.
i wonder if that guy ever found the police station. His family's legacy is finding a police station, and he'll be damned if he won't find it (unaware that he can look prolly right behind him and find one)
Theory, he knows Becky is Wordgirl, and knows that going to the police is not as efficient as telling her. But he never tells anyone. He's the true hero.
I swear that one guy knows it is not a police station and knows that Word Girl is better equipped to deal with it. But how does he keep finding her, even out of costume
7:16 is funnier considering that the dude she's yelling at is The Amazing Rope Guy, a villain she's had to stop in the past. She didn't recognize him without his suit, but I believe there's been an episode that showed what he looked like without it. Also you can sorta tell by the ginger goatee. (Edit) In the trivia section of the wiki, it shows a picture of him not wearing his suit, sitting in his home with the suit beside him on his couch
"Now if you'll excuse me, I have to eat a building." That is so nonsensical yet fitting with chaotic energy I'm adding that to my 'things I quote regularly' list. Update: I can't watch this anymore. Copyright sucks.
I plan to make that into a video eventually, but I will first have to watch every WordGirl episode and find every clip of him, which will take a long time.

That main villain has the same voice actor as the Ice King from Adventure Time... how did I not realize this... Edit: Tom Kenny is the voice actor? Whaaat, next you're gonna tell me that the voice of Mario voiced Skyrim characters.
It also highly reminds me of Phineas & Ferb. Both shows are equally funny, and pretty much any joke in WordGirl I could see in Phineas & Ferb. Both shows even have running gags, like the police station guy and the hat guy, similar to how P&F have the running gag of the farmer and his wife saying "did you think _______ was going to fall out of the sky?" In both shows, everyone is crazy, and people act like that's normal. That's what makes the shows so funny. Like how the guy eating his own hat is so absurd, but yet he treats is so seriously. That's what makes it funny.
3:02 boy this show was progressive like they all say. Princess going out to be the hero? That was probably novel before it was done a million times. 5:22 and it was doing the sort of ad-libed esk stuff before everyone started doing it after rick and morty.
