Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e . It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25 lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid spooling.
I have a video about why you should fish out of the back on my channel. Free spooling just takes practice but is super effective and I do it on almost every fish!
Excellent video really enjoyed it, what brand cutter did you use to cut the hooks with and do you tie a Palomar knot with the braid to your leader ? Thanks 👌
Hi Doug ,I’ve got to say first you’re videos are off the grid ,they are awesome . I have subscribed the minute I saw the first one. I wondered if you can help,I’ve a Abu Garcia revo 3 beast low profile 6.2:1 when I cast I’m hitting around the 60yds area and at the back end of the cast my spool wants to keep on turning . Which one should I adjust the magnet or the drag could you do a quick demo on one of your videos that way I can understand it better , I mean you could also be helping a lot of other anglers thank Doug and keep doing what your doing. bye fella…….mark Eastwood from the u.k England
You will want to tighten the brakes on the side of the reel and also be sure you are using your thumb to stop the spool just before the bait hits the water.
@@dougwegnerfishing Thanks Doug I kind of figured that maybe the reason. I remember the first time I seen you I believe it was on the musky factory where you did an incredible seminar on using your electronics. I was blown away by your incredible talents. Love your channel Good fishing always sincerely Record 🎣
All of the spots we fished this day we had a shot at a 50” fish. Would I trade 3 of them for a 50 yea but that blonde 4’er that came in was as good as it gets in musky fishing. Doesn’t matter much to me if it was 45 or 55 that was amazing.
Epic trip, Doug's use of electronics is next level!
Very little bit helps.

Well done. I have also bowed out of a late venture to get some sleep. And, just like this scenario, they slayed. Lesson learned.
Can’t catch them on the couch!
Always love your guys' videos. I can't wait to get back out for the 2022 season
Thanks for watching! We are excited as well!!!
Nice solo hat trick! Those fish were super aggressive! Great job!!
Thanks man it was a great day and everything lined up right.
What a day man! Congrats!
So much fun everything lined up perfect!
You're making it look to easy Doug!
Great video! There loving the staggers!!!
Thanks man! Muskies can’t resist them!!!
Great video. Interesting that you are set up to fish the back of the boat even when you are solo. I would love to learn more about free spoiling.

@@dougwegnerfishing , I would love to see the video. I always fish from the back myself.
Awesome stuff as always!
Thanks man!

Great video Doug, many years ago I boated 2 Musky’s in consecutive casts, enjoying this LOTW camping series.
I hadn’t done that in a long time. Love the big blonde one that came on second! Thanks for watching.

Decent content 👍🏻👍🏻
Doing your 2021 top five lures?
spec question, does diawa affer a 401 aka lefty reel?
Doug how do you like the prorex compared to lexa HD?
I dropped my trolling motor down at the spot in 7:35. had a near 50 staring at my trolling motor when I looked down last summer. Never got her though!
That’s what keeps us going back!
you finally fixed those mic problems
Nice ! Hey Doug new to your channel do you ever try for muskie's ice fishing ?
No mainly due to the the fact that the places I fish have a closed season and that’s when the lakes freeze up.

Enough fuel? Or are you preparing for the entire season of high gas prices?
That’s was only enough for 4 days. Big boat burns a lot of fuel.
So I ask you this would you replace this day and experience and all of those muskies for as chance at one 50"?

How do you charge your boat up camping? Generator?
Correct!
