1945 Willy's MB Exhaust System Install - How to fabricate body mounting brackets

  • In this video I'm ready to install the exhaust system on the WWII Jeep but realized the mounting locations on the body are missing! I tracked down images of an ACM II body and fabricated my own mounts to weld in. I'll show you the process and then we'll get the exhaust hung.

    A 1945 MB should not have side exhaust. It was changed to the Deep Mud Exhaust system…

      I have one of the deep mud brackets mounted by the rear axle. Unfortunately I ordered the side exhaust a long time ago and had to use it due to the budget. But that explains why the brackets may have been absent on the body. Thank you for pointing this out!

      There are several tell-tale signs on the frame, that it had the Deep Mud Exhaust system per factory. The holes in the frame for the hanger brackets is a pretty sure sign. If the transmission crossmember is original to the jeep, it will have a bent horisontal tab on top of the pedal return spring bracket as another sign of Deep Mud Exhaust. Crossmember could have been changed though…
