Hi Tess, love all your projects, such meaningful gifts you have made, love your work in progress, the cat head scarf. Like you I have made gift bags or scaks for the few gifts I have to give a d like you have so much good materials to create with. Merry Christmas to you guys and to the kittens, cat and the chookens x
Morning Tess. Your making video's are so inspiring. I absolutely love a scrappy project. I've had a epp quilt project on the go for a few years. Using fabric from old clothes, swaps and scraps. For me it's not what things are made from, more of how making helps my physical and mental health. Your Rusty Hull sweater is gorgeous, a lovely story behind it too. Glad it's bringing so much pleasure. Yak is a favourite of mine. Made my son some socks striping undyed with scraps from my stash. On a mission now to finish a pair of socks for Andy. Socks are my fave , usually top down with shadow wrap heel on magic loop. Like you I do like trying other techniques. X🎄
Thanks for showing all your projects Tess! Up to now I always did short row heels but now I want to look up how to do an afterthought heel. How clever to add a few rows to allow for a high instep! When I knit socks I use two short circular needles, so the stitches for the front of the sock are on one needle and the stitches for the back of the sock on the other. Somehow that's easier on my hands than one short circular needle, which is what I tried first.
Knitting socks toe up magic loop is my preferred method. I switch between one at time and two at a time. Always Jenny's surprisingly stretchy bind off. Have not tried after thought heels, yet. 🙂 Fish lip kiss heels are my go to. At least one sock on my needles at all times. Thanks for the video.
So talented, I always enjoy your videos. The cat scarf is so cute. I love the idea of putting together your own advent calendar with a project in mind.
Hi tess our our mot failed price today was 6oo we were so fed up but then we got our car fixed and can visit family .oh my your so talented loved all the bits you made.x
I also learned to knit toe-up socks, during the lockdowns, but then I used the Fish Lips Kiss Heel and the Stretchy bind off. It's great when you find a style that works for you, but my biggest discovery were the Addi Crasy Trio knitting needles. You have your yarn on two and knit with the third. There is a section of soft cable in the middle of each needle, so it's a bit like using a circular needle, but without the long loop. They're a life changer!
You are an inspiration with all your making projects that are minimal cost. I was bought one of those aprons earlier in December and decided to copy and make myself one. I am post surgery at the moment so it won't be just yet. Brilliant scrappy socks, I love the colours and will be a great match with your cat scarf! Happy Christmas 🎄⛄🦌
Lovely, all of it...haven't been making much, but I do make notebooks and all my planner inserts, I'm a journal keeper, and I crochet intricat fine things which I haven't been doing much of, oh I'm also a sewer, quilter, but have done nothing this year, just watching others doing, new year, new plans, more doing less watching...amazing how we can get caught up in things that take us away from the things we enjoy if we don't take care..tfs looking forward to seeing that jumper finished, and such a lovely story too, definitely a wonderful memory to preserve with a jumper...
I just wanted to let you know that when I watched your idea for an advent for yourself- video, it gave me an idea for an advent for my sister. I found a pattern for sewing a table runner and coasters and divided it up into 24 packages for her to sew a bit at a time. She is loving it and continuing to sew pieces together. Thank you Tess for the inspiration.! I tried to put the links in but am not too savvy about those things. Any way the runner was for a table runner to use on New Years Eve from Sew sew easy and the coasters were from the Dressmakers cottage.
Happy Belated Birthday Tess! Sounds like you had a lovely birthday! And you certainly have been busy with all of your projects despite the Christmas season extra things that need doing, your writing project and your Vlogmas! There is no moss growing under your feet! All lovely things you have made and are making. Looking forward to seeing your "Hull" color project competed!
Okay, Tess. You have me thinking about make reversible aprons for gifts! I'm going to have to try making this apron. However, do you sew the shoulder seams on each piece before you lay them right sides together? I guess I'm going to have to try it, before I see how crossing those straps, then sewing the two aprons right sides together will work. I may be requesting you make a sewing video showing exactly how you done that. I sure appreciate your videos. They keep me "plodding along" with the projects I'm doing. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Tess you are so lovely ❤️. I’ve been on a knitting hiatus thanks to Covid, it hit the whole family but unfortunately I’m dealing with post covid issues, boo 😕. You’ve inspired me to have a go at picking up my needles and knitting a few rows on my socks, I’ll have to take a peek at your sock links in the description box as I’ve always wanted to try out magic loop, toe down and after thought heels. Hope you get jammies finished as they look super cosy xx
I love your videos Tess, you are so bubbly and happy as you talk about all the things you do! I've been watching your vlogmas videos and have picked up so many tips. I'm definitely going to make the reusable present bags such a great idea! I think that you must live very near to where I grew up as I had a very similar view from my house on the Moors of the monument in your snowy photo! Looking forward to tomorrow's video 😊
It's interesting you lived in Hull. I'm from the outskirts of Hull originally and my father worked in the ship building industry there. I love shopping on Hessle Road when we go back to visit relatives. Especially Boyes. I love all of your makes. You are so talented and skilled. I especially love the socks. I'm sure your family will really enjoy wearing them.
Love all your projects, it'll keep you busy and warm this winter! Love all the cat projects wish I knitted better, I crochet more. I have some wrist warmers to do for my girls. And an afghan to finish. And 3 quilts in progress. Haven't worked on much lately but looking forward to getting back to it
I've been working on a crochet cowl (free pattern), has to start again as somehow dropped loads of stitches. Not being hard on myself as this is my second project. It's been such an appreciated way to unwind after a hectic day at work ( of which there have been many lately). Thank you for sharing with us your wip and finished projects. 👍👌💗
Love the cat scarf, so pretty. No need to start picking up stitches on the other end, when you get to the half length you want, just knit the cat pattern upside down. Easier for you. I've done it myself on a scarf. Loving Vlogmas.
Hi Tess, please could you recommend a video for me? I have never knitted but you are inspiring me to have a go. When I have UA-cam videos it's feels a bit over whelming as there are so many. Thank you so much for your videos, you've inspired me in lots of ways this past year particularly with money and doing task. Have a lovely Christmas Emma from South Coast England
Oh, I love that apron! I haven’t sewn for years but I cobbled a pattern together earlier in the year and made myself a similar one and I love it (although it’s nothing like as professional as yours and already fraying - good job I don’t care!) Maybe you might consider making and selling the odd one to order, if you can find suitable material cheap enough?
I love the scrappy socks. From watching your knitting projects. i have decided to learn to knit. I found a super easy tutorial for slippers. wish me luck after Christmas on my knitting journey. So far this year I have made 3 quilts and in the process of a 4th.
Lovely catch up vid. You are so lucky to be able to knit so well. I am now retired and trying to improve my knitting skill. I have been doing some wrist warmers as demonstrated be Karen on prime of midlife. I have played with her original idea and knitted quite a few pairs for presents. I want to be able to knit in the round and to knit socks so will be checking out tutorials in the next year. It will keep me busy in my no spend January. I love the colours in your jumper wool. I know what you mean about the colours of the hulls. I too am from the Hull area and when in my first job, just out of school, I worked down the Hessel Road, Subway Street and on the fish docks. Such a lovely group of people down there. Often was offered 'a fry up' which was a parcel of fish. My mum could never believe how much it contained. It was definately appreciated by her. However she still made me change my clothes in the garage as they were a little smelly after wading through the water on the fish stands.
Been loving your vlogmass videos. Never knitted socks so was very interested in that bit. I am knitting my first ever Aron cardigan as I watch you. It’s going slow, but great. Was hoping to finish for Christmas but not going to get done in time. No worries it’s for myself not a gift. I have the back and left front finished. half a sleeve done, and am working on the right front now, got about half way so far. Recon it will be the end of January before I finish. 🧶🧦🧶🧦

I’ve been looking forward to this, what a great selection of great makes. Have you seen the sweater pattern on Ravelry called #32 For Cat Lovers? I’ve been meaning to make it for years.
Your family sounds lovely and I love the pride in your voice when you talk about your sons.
They are the loveliest lads, honestly. So easy to love. ❤️
I’m LOVING the cat scarf and socks! Kitting is something i will never get. (I’ve already tried) What great gifts!
I love every single thing you made. What wonderful gifts your boys and husband will receive at Christmas. Well done.
