Father Greg Boyle, director of Homeboy Industries, the world's largest gang intervention and rehabilitation program, shares how the convergence of news and culture in late 1980s Los Angeles shifted his path. A group of middle school-aged boys needing a school that would take them after being expelled eventually prompted Boyle to start a school, and his mission grew from there. Working with gang members often also means he's witnessed a lot death alongside the communities Boyle and Homeboy Industries serves. Boyle shares how he works through grief, both his own and working to help others.
