i just want to say thank you for inspiring me to upload some video's of me preparing for my can a fatman survive on a 125 challenge, The four corners of Britain, 2300 miles on an AJS Tempest 125 scrambler within 74 hours using only A & B roads no motorways/freeways mainly to show people thinking of learning to ride a bike or new learners your not limited just to your area or town & can go anywhere in the country, the main reason for the 74 hours is because im a single parent looking after a young man with Asperger's syndrome & he will worry if im gone any longer, i watched Ed on the c90 adventure & thought i'd love to do that, then i came across your adventure, but it is your wife i owe the biggest thanks to when she told you to do it now while you still can & as we are around the same age i thought, sod it why not...so thank you to you & your wife
I’m so jazzed that you had a great day of riding. You were in part of my stomping grounds. I giggled every time you mispronounced Salida, (suh-Lye-duh). The Spanish mountains outside of Trinidad in Huerfano County are The Spanish Peaks. The looming mountains you saw to the west are the Sangre de Cristos. Salida is at the southern end of the Collegiate range and the northern end of the Sangre de Cristos. All mountains in Colorado are part of the Rockies. There are a number of distinct separately named ranges, such as the Sangre de Cristos, the Collegiates, the San Juan’s, the Gore Range, etc. Oh, the stands of “Birch” trees you rode through are Aspens. I’m really delighted to see your journey through my state.
Where were you before I edited! Future Ang could have had a blast correcting (and chiding) Past Ang. Salida salida, tomato tomato. Do Aspens at least look like Birch? Probably not. Darnit - I didn't mean to give Birch all that credit. Ha!
@@SomeGuyRides yes, Aspen do sort of look like Birch, (they are probably a similar family of tree). 😃 Aspen trivia, the largest living organism on earth is a stand of Aspen near Aspen, CO. Aspen are interconnected via their root system. Stands of Aspen are all one organism. Sorry I wasn’t there for you during editing. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. I’m very excited to see the continuation of your ride through Colorado and into the rest of the west.
I've always been amazed that birch and aspen have the same white squeezie bark. How could they not be cousins? But birches are botanically distant, in an entirely different order from aspens. Thanks Wikipedia!
On the way to Sturges in 2015 we camped in the front of a KOA it was packed but no one was there to say no so we set up and in the am we weren’t the only ones that did the same thing. Good time’s ! Thanks for sharing!
Colorado is all dispersed camping. Just camp most anywhere in the National forests and you are good. I've lived here so long that the population is more than triple what it was when I was young. The crowds that are now everywhere, are maddening.

Good Lord, what a gorgeous episode! God bless Colorado, it's just so amaz------wait, did you say we're gonna "sleep like the wind"??? Da' fuk?? Loving the adventure!
12:25 just my personal opinion, but I think scenery like that makes us realize just how small we are, therefore, how immense, and incredible this planet is…..
Not sure if it's the change in environment, not having bike problems, or having someone with him, but there was 95% less grumbling and complaining this video. 👍
Thanks Team CT125! Another great video! It's been many years since I was last in that part of Colorado and now I want to go back! (After your experiences on the TAT with the CT125's, any thoughts on the Himalayan on the same trek?) Cheers and thanks again!
The route we went I would definitely re-ride on the Himalayan. The only part that might be a little sketchy would be going down Ophir pass but if we took it slow it would be no problem. There are other passes around the Alpine Loop area that might be a bit tough on the Himalayan maybe. However I’m planning a trip to return and just do some riding in CO and UT on my old DR650 which I’m refurbishing now. There will be some re-rides in places but adding more advanced stuff also.
I've been there. Going on 7 without a secured place to stay. It can wreck an otherwise glorious perfect day of riding . . . and can make companions testy.
Great commentary and video. The CT 125 is a crazy bike - a little beast. I ordered some accessories from your buddy in Thailand - good recommendation. How did you attach your drone case to the front headlight rack?
just drilled a hole in the bottom, into a flat bar that spanned the bottom of the rack. plus a strap for good measure... (didn't really need the strap). Not sure that was a good place for the drone though...
Whenever I drive or ride through the west I find myself wanting to live in the awe of those mountains every day... but my wife would not withstand the isolation
Yeah it’s beautiful, and you can’t imagine someone not loving it, but the people who live there, get up and curse that damn mountain, because you can’t go anywhere without getting over or around it. Then in the wintertime, the snow is up to your ears and you freeze fr months at a time. Nobody ever appreciates their own backyard.
You poised the question "Who crests the hill & doesn't appreciate the scenery?" Lower level hominids, sub 100 I.Q. humans. Apes can't fathom or ponder, the meaning behind the Universe creation. Whether religious or scientific
You need to quit ragging on Oklahoma. If you'd had the cojones to actually ride the TAT, it wouldn't have been as boring. Loving the videos, can't wait for the next one, but lay off Oklahoma.
You’re sounding kind of harsh, man. I think attempting the TAT on that little bike shows cojones. If he doesn’t like OK, he just doesn’t. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. Anyway, have good ride.

This is my favorite episode so far. Your happiness at having a riding buddy, and the beauty and roads of CO after the purgatory of OK is infectious.
I think this episode is a turning point, the different scenery you came across in a short amount of time is just incredible !!!
40:58 finding a good buddy with compatible riding skills, and compatible personalities is priceless! It’s not an easy thing to find
You've quickly become one of my faves, and I'm also very thankful you use good music.

Salida is pronounced "sah lie dah" in Colorado. In Spanish, it is "Sah-lee-das". Salida=exit.
Always a puzzle; is it a small hill close by or a big mountain far away ?....
