I'm so fucking excited for the second season, I'm a manga reader and Dungeon Meshi has one of the best ending I have ever read.
The second season will probably cover the rest of the story if they stick with the 24 episodes for seasons and trigger really did an amazing job with the source material, it's clearly a labour if love.
I adore Chilchuck too! He is such an underrated character but it makes perfect sense why he is so reserved, he is a middle age dad with a not great relationship with his family, and who has spent years fighting for the safety of other half-foots with his union, he is a professional who keeps his personal life separated from his work. He just feels so real

You've got me even more hyped for season two. And yeah, chilchuck is awesome.

@@liamnidas I hope I'm not giving false expectations because I know it can be a trouble with manga fans hyping stuff, but I really loved the ending.
Are you interested in checking out the manga before the next season? The art starts a bit wonky but by the dragon fight it's stunning, and while the anime adaptation was great they skipped on some important stuff, nothing plot breaking but missed a few worldbuilding bits and a lot of funny moments, plus the extras are always a joy to read

@@jodrako4341 Given how good the anime has been and the fact that they're already working on season two, I'll probably stick to the anime for now.
But if I really like the second season and how the story wraps up then I'll probably grab the manga to fill in all the extra gaps.

I'm happy to hear that Chilchuck does have a cheer leading squad somewhere. I'm hoping we find out more in season two about his failure of a family life.

This show has been a very pleasant surprise. Only half way through, and the first episodes were a bit rough for me to get through, but as the plot started to hit I've really been enjoying it.

I also don't believe Kill La Kill was a great anime. However, it was a landmark in the history of anime and in the history of Trigger itself. Being an anime-only original, it became the blueprint for what would eventually become the Studio Trigger identity. Character development, sakuga action sequences, awesome OST/OP/ED, and pushing the envelope on story-telling. Kill La Kill had been strongly influenced by Gurren Lagann after all, whose director and writer becoming pillars of Studio Trigger. I dare say that Kill La Kill was a sort of proof of concept for Studio Trigger's identity, an identity they carried with them into Promare, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, and now Delicious In Dungeon. This evolution had been in Studio Trigger's DNA. After all, the studio had emerged from the ground-breaking Studio Gainax, and that studio's origin as Daicon Films.

Completely agree with that. I don't like Kill la Kill but it did really set a standard for the future of Studio Trigger anime. And hopefully with Cyberpunk Edgerunners and Delicious in Dungeon, we'll see a greater trend of better anime from this studio.

Fun fact: Dungeon Meshi is like the Mushoku Tensei of food manga/anime. In that it came out earlier (not first, of course… there are way more cooking/food manga that are decades older), and influenced plenty of subpar manga that got animated before it. It always bugged me that Campfire cooking in another world got animated before this one.
But looking back… I guess it’s a good thing because they were able to work on it more and polish it. It just sucks that people are sleeping on it because they think it’s just another Campfire cooking rip-off.
I also appreciate that you say Laios’ name right 😂😂😂 most people call him Louse 😅😅😂😂

Luckily the people who have seen this anime are eating good. And if season 2 continues with this high quality then this could be an anime that gets more an more popular with time.
Also I was having such an existential crisis with Laios's name. I could not tell if I was doing it right. But it seems like people screw it up far more than I ever could.

If you think CYBERPUNK EDGERUNNERS was the best TRIGGER show your opinion isn't worth considering and you're talking about a show that already ended a bit late dontcha think

    • @liamnidas
      @liamnidas  2 місяці тому +3

What is your favourite Studio Trigger anime then?
Also, I'm not alone in that opinion. Cyberpunk Edgerunners is currently their highest rated anime, tied with Delicious in Dungeon on MAL. it's also their highest rated anime on IMDb by a significant margin. Saying that me thinking Cyberpunk Edgerunners is their best anime just makes you look silly.
Also, I wasn't aware that there was a time limit for how long after a show finishes you need to have released a video by. I uploaded one week after the anime finished.
