The Cannon Group, Inc. was an American group of companies, including Cannon Films, which produced films from 1967 to 1994. The extensive group also owned, amongst others, a large international cinema chain and a video film company that invested heavily in the video market, buying the international video rights to several classic film libraries. Some of their best-known films include Joe (1970), Runaway Train (1985), and Street Smart (1987), all of which were Oscar-nominated. Cannon's films proved to be much more popular in the United Kingdom than in its native United States, which is why Cannon acquired several British cinema chains during the 1980s and founded the mail-order video distribution service Videolog as a joint venture with Columbia House Europe, Ltd. in the mid-1980s. Cannon Cinemas were a familiar sight in the United Kingdom until the late 1990s when MGM Cannon cinemas were sold to Virgin who retained the multi-screen sites and sold the traditional sites to a new ABC Cinemas.

If you were around in the 80s, cannon films was something special. When that cannon logo showed up, you knew you were in for one hell of a ride. Their movies may not have been to the highest standards but, boy were they enjoyable and ambitious.
Love this Cannon intro in 80s Jean Claude Van Damme's movies "Cyborg" and "Bloodsport" and also Stallone in "Cobra".
Cannon Group Films need coming back.
One of the best b movie film companies of all time. Shame no one talks about them anymore.
There is a really good documentary on Cannon films called “Electric Bugaloo”. We worth the watch if you’ve not seen it.
I certainly agree. If you were around in the 80s, cannon movies were something special. They definitely weren't of the best quality (obviously, it was a b movie company), but they were the most enjoyable thing ever.
