Hello - you'll need to use connect a third-party service to your Shopify store to do that. Here's one that might work for you (although please note we've not tested this ourselves): single.xyz/pages/music-sales-chart-reporting
Yup was just about to say Single Music too ^ As for where to get the codes (in case you didn't know) you either get them from your distributers or if you don't have any, you find the official websites that allows you to make them your self (but it costs money)
Example I uploaded a WAV file or Mp3 file from my computer, How do you protect my file? What is someone use your song to their product video or movie? it should have copyright protection, right? We deserve a proper payment for that. When the customer buys your song and download it from your website they can upload it somewhere, if it is not protected? Is possible that the customer can download the file but they cannot upload it? How do you license your song to 200 countries? What if you are in Asia but an American bought your song and use it to his movie or product ads or product video? Even though my songs are copyrighted here in my country but is not copyrighted in USA, they can use my music, right? I have so many questions. I'm new in selling digital products. I want to sell direct to customers. My original songs are now being arranged and I'm looking for the proper website to put them as Independent Artist. Kindly answer all of my questions. THANKS in advance.
To protect your music files when selling online, start by formally registering your songs with a copyright office to establish ownership rights. Consider joining royalty collection agencies, like ASCAP or BMI, for performance royalties, and SoundExchange for digital royalties. These organizations help ensure you’re paid whenever your music is used or streamed in commercial settings worldwide. Also, setting clear usage terms (e.g., for personal use only) with each purchase can prevent unauthorized commercial use. For additional protection on Shopify, apps like 'Fileflare - Digital Downloads', 'Digital Downloads Pro' and 'DDA - Digital Downloads' offer features like IP tracking, license keys, and download limits. These tools can help you manage access to your files and add layers of copyright security, giving you more control over how your music is shared and used.
As far as I’m aware, selling second hand CDs and vinyl should be fine. Selling digital files will likely cause you legal headaches though! If in doubt about what you want to do, check with a lawyer but there are lots of online stores out there specialising in second hand music sales.
There are two ways to go about this - the first involves using paid ads (Facebook, TikTok etc.) and showing these to the kind of people who like the genre that your music sits in. The second involves creating content on your site that attracts people to your Shopify store (this typically involves blogging). If going down the latter route it helps to gain a good understanding of Shopify SEO best practices - watch our video at ua-cam.com/video/U8HiVzVzb14/v-deo.htmlsi=ouH2cnsx-MW_cM-_ for more information on all that. Cool, any idea about bundling digital with an existing print full integrated catalog item? Maybe as simple as the prior example of bundling?
Thank you!
Most welcome 👍
