Standing Pilates for Seniors- 30 minutes of exercise to Improve Strength, Balance & Build Confidence

  • Join me for a 30 Minute standing pilates workout for Seniors 60+. In this enjoyable session you will be doing exercises to ease general aches & pains in the joints and spine, as well as some specially created exercises to help combat loss of strength, coordination and balance that comes with age, but and this is important It doesn't have to be that way! Doing these exercises regularly will improve all these things so I am recommending you build up to doing this workout at least twice a week, ideally three times a week. Take your time, do what you can, and if anything is too challenging for you right now, don't worry, just rest and come back and try again when you're ready. Moving daily is the best way to build strength so try and do a little something everyday.

    Dear Rachel, I don’t know in the UK, but in Italy I don’t think there are Pilates teachers on UA-cam who make classes for the elderly. I think it’s such a beautiful thing 💫, also your lessons for over 60s. I’m really happy to have met you on my way🌹. Thanks again and a big hug from Italy 🤗

      Look at senior shape fitness on UA-cam. Lauren is the instructor and has many videos-chair yoga, pilates, cardio and strength training. All are done with good form, and she offers modifications. They also are done at a slower pace.

    Dear Rachel, I had to return to work at age 62 after many years at home. I’ve been into fitness about ten years, found your channel a year ago. I am on my feet all day and
    on the floor with kids. I move like a much younger person and your workouts are a huge part of this. Thank you for what you do for the over 60 crowd! Much love ❤

    So pleased that your exercise of spreading out the toes and then placing them down separately really helps me to stand on tiptoe and stay balanced which I have always found very difficult - brilliant thank you!

    I love this routine especially for my hips. I have achy hips! I do need to work on when I get on the floor with my grandchildren to be able get back up! Lol

    That was exactly what I needed after an afternoon out and about with my husband-I was tired and dragging, but wanted to try this as your senior sessions are always a help!😊 sure enough, I feel warm, energized and gently stretched, amazing!     OMG! Perfect! My fault I haven't done Pilates the past 3 months. Last week's Intermediate was a bit of a challenge so I logged on this morning to find a more warm-up "class". How wonderful for me that yesterday's "class" was perfect for getting those muscles ready for more challenging ones.

    That was lovely. I usually do an intermediate standing - and I’m almost 66 - but love a good senior workout. Maybe not so heavy on the squats but a beautiful stretch and movement video.

    Just wanted to say that although I have been doing your Pilates for quite a while. I was impressed after I just had heart surgery for coronary arteries how well I could come to a stand using your techniques. I made a difference! I am 76 and was able to do intermediate levels mostly, before surgery. So this vid is good while I cannot use arms overhead to regain endurance. So thank you so much. I am almost 3 weeks out from surgery.

    This was a great session. I love these gentle workouts. I try to mix the gentle ones in with the more intermediate but on days i am not feeling super, these keep me moving and feeling pretty good. I really appreciate these workouts and all you do for us.

    Dear Rachel, I'm from Australia, 71 yo, and I've been doing one of your senior sessions every morning for more than two years. Thank you so much for thorough instructions and cheerful, understanding attitude. Could you plese do a session for older people with lordosis. I'm trying to adjust some exercises or stop video and do a back stratch in between, but, I'm sure, you know what best to do with such condition. Thank you.

    Good moves... suffering with tennis elbow so arm movements helped, I added a resistance band to the legs to making it a bit more challenging I'm 63y ❤

    Hi Rachel, this looks lovely but having had two lots of surgery (hysterectomy and partial thyroidectomy) in 6 weeks I don't think I can even manage this gentle workout yet. Was doing your much more advanced ones before, but at 75 I guess I need longer to recover. Do you have any recommended super easy ones to start on for a way back in? Thank you, I do love your classes.

    Thank you, Rachel. I have watched this lovely class and it looks super. May I kindly ask as one who finds even beginners classes sometimes challenging if you could do a senior class for the over sixties that is slightly more challenging than the ones we have at present or maybe even do classes for over sixties in general that are more challenging . Be as well as the slower classes? I’m sure I haven’t made myself clear enough and I hope not to upset anyone. X

      @TheGirlWithThePilatesMat I did look,Rachel a few months ago and just find the senior classes very lovely and gentle. Thank you. All your classes are wonderful and I like all your hard work and dedication and excellent classes. Perhaps it might be a thought to do a 60 plus Senior class that is a bit more challenging perhaps. I usually try and do the ones aimed at non seniors even though I modify these for me by doing less repetitions etc .
      I must sound really ungrateful to you and I probably don't express myself very well. Still,your channel is one of my absolute favourite on here.
