    yelp: www.yelp.com/biz/first-col-pet...
    If you know anyone who cares about their animal in the 626 area, please share this video with them
    Here's the review that Angelica (lady behind me), posted
    I came in here earlier today to inquire about services with my cousin for her dog because she's from the area. We came in at the end of an argument with a customer and an employee. But from what I saw, we realized we could never ever ever bring in her dog here.
    The customers poor dog was shaking and we could see bald spots that were bright pink and irritated! And this lady employee was basically yelling at him saying his dog was "too energetic" that's why it was going to cost more than what's normal... I'm sorry but I usually get a call when services are going to cost me extra, you can't just over charge someone for services they did NOT know they were receiving! To my surprise, a post on FB popped up and it was the guy and his dog RIGHTFULLY complaining about this business! Which btw, I saw is close to 1k likes... His FB page is "Jason Chen Music" looks like he's well known. I hope this really spreads the word about this terrible business! They are dogs, they can't talk, they're around unfamiliar people and an abundance of dogs/dog smells. OF COURSE they're going to be rowdy every now and then, that's NO excuse to get frustrated and in turn take it as a chance to OVER CHARGE people.
    This video was not created with the intention of creating a hate army. There's no need to go leave bad feedback on Yelp, there's ways to get around that anyway.
    Just spread awareness so other people don't get hustled and bullied anymore!!

      shelbie matthews when i'm at a store to get work done now, not in the future, i don't want an estimate i want a price quote so i know how much i am spending. How could anyone budget if we accepted estimates at the time of service?

      are you kidding me .. anywhere you go or do you get estimates .. from work on your house , car etc.. i dont know how long you been a groomer for .. just saying i have been a groomer over 14 years and always let my customers know a estimate so they know if its going to be more or less .. its no way you can set a price and do it . not knowing how the dog acts or how much work you going to put in his groom .. are you going shopping for food or clothes? .. smh thats whats wrong with groomers like yourself .. yall think .. you can wonders and you cant lol and thats why customers are mislead thinking they can go other places for set prices ..

      It isn't illegal if you have the customer sign a form before you groom saying if they find any parasites or extra matting that an extra charge will be given for removing them. That's what we did when I worked at Petco. But a price would never be doubled for anything like that.

    I have been a groomer for 7 years, and every time I get a matted up dog that the owners would like to be left fluffy, I call them, explain the dog is very matted and brushing out all the mats will be too painful and ask if they'd like me to shave their dog or come pick it up, as some absolutely would rather put their dog through the pain just to be fluffy, then explain how to keep mats from the coat and to bring the dog in more next time at time of pick up. This woman not only should have called PRIOR to shaving down the dog, but in no form, should this dog have cost MORE than what she quoted! If your a groomer, then you know, you only charge double for those extremely difficult/dangerous dogs! As for his butt and tummy being shaved, this is done to keep poop and pee from tangling in his coat and will keep him clean and healthy, but shaving hair too short on testicles is bad, as it will cause irratation and chewing, resulting in injury which the groomer is responsible for.

      Sephie Cooper I had a laberdoodle, and from what most people know they are extremely energetic and strong (especially him because of all the exercise) when we took him to a groomers an hour away. He was really matted and I would have rather shaved him instead of putting him through that pain. But the fact that the groomer we payed for and went to extreme lengths to bring him there just to come back to a shaved mole-rat in the middle of winter was the worst.

    • @miserablydeviant3678
      @miserablydeviant3678 7 років тому +35

      Emily Donato If the dog was super matted, there isn't anything the groomer can do. We have to shave so short, because we are trying use a blade that goes under the mat to prevent pulling and snagging that cause pain. My suggestion to you is, brush your dog out more often and do NOT bath unless he is 100% brushed out with zero mats. Because bathing with mats causes the mats to get tighter and harder to brush out.

      Omg I used to be a dog bather so I know the joys of calling up a person and trying to explain to them that matts can be worse than they think. I had a 17 year old Shi Zhu that had flakes of dear skin and patches of fur coming up due to the fact that she had about 5 years worth of matting in her coat. Luckily the owner listened to me and she got shaved down by the vet and put on medication to help her coat. If your dog is matted in my honest opinion, you don't get to choose if they stay in the dogs coat or not because it CAN and WILL fester into an infection. I've seen three too many dogs go home with their pet parent who would rather them stay matted rather than have them be naked for a few weeks. (I mean if it's a double coated dog then I feel bad but hey. Don't get an animal you aren't goin to properly care for.)

      An animal should never leave the groomer cowering, I have never once had one of my clients walk away terrified, the only time I have ever seen this, is when the new girl got frustrated with a 7 month old pomeraian and struck the dog, I came down on her hard and she was fired instantly, the poor baby was terrified and I called the owners immediately. The owner came down and gave them free grooming for a couple months, granted it doesn't make up for it, but either myself or the owner would groom the pup infront of the owners each time. She got better and is fabulous for grooming. But still, no dog should ever leave the groomer terrified, I even have a high anxiety dog come who leaves a happy boy.

  • @SwitchingReins
    @SwitchingReins 7 років тому +45

    I don't think the groomer should have yelled or charged without informing you. But You can not just give a matted dog a "trim". The hair has to be shaved down to the unmatted coat very close to the skin. The clippers can't just go through the mats and take only half of the length off. The blades have long teeth on them, and can only get through well brushed out hair. Your dog's sanitary clip looks like most sanitary clips. It's very likely that your dog had to be pulled on a lot to get through the matting and was anxious from that.

  • @RinyaLeonheart
    @RinyaLeonheart 8 років тому +28

    As a pet groomer I'm shocked... there's no reason to shout at a customer, period. And as for the tangle part, she is also in the wrong. If the customer bring their dog for grooming it is our job to check for any tangles or skin problems before the owner leave, and if you're that busy, can't you call the owner to inform them later on? :/

      lisa gaye The "withers" are just below the neck...not the back of the legs. The best thing to keep a dog from matting up after a home bath is drying them with a hair dryer on LOW heat, while brushing them out at the same time. That also goes for when they come in wet from outside after being in the rain, a swim, or being at the beach. Matts that form from being allowed to air dry are the WORST, especially for a little curly coated one like that.

    As a groomer, I have mixed feelings on this. I totally disagree with the way she talked to and treated you. However, if I were to guess by what you said, your dog was matted. Especially if she saved it to show you, it had to be tight. You can't just trim matted hair, it has to be shaved with a blade short enough to get under it. Usually the longest that can be done at is 1/4" but usually 1/8", 1/16" or even shorter. As far as the privates go, it's supposed to be shaved at 1/16". It's called a sanitary shave. It includes a small box around the anus, the penis/testicles/vulva, and the inner thighs. It's standard with any groom to keep that area need and clean. Hope this explains the groom itself.(: As for the price, many shops, especially private ones, will charge more for poor condition of the coat (matting) and if the dog is misbehaved to where it makes it more difficult to groom. Like I said, I understand the groom, but it was COMPLETELY uncalled for if they spoke to you that way. Completely unprofessional and I'm glad you put that out there. The groom, however, is a result of your lack of care.

    • @mariblu3
      @mariblu3 7 років тому +17

      EpilepticGiraffesX I'm sorry but even with all of that said, and there was a lot there sheesh, the groomer should have told him she couldn't just trim him from the start. If the matting was that bad, and he asked for just a trim, she should have said, " I'm sorry but we can't just trim him he's too matted." The only reason she did NOT do this or call to confirm with him that it was alright to shave his dog, was because she knew he would probably leave. So she led him on to think that they could do what he was asking for. She has probably treated other people like this and winds up getting paid everytime. And on another note saying that because your dog is matted you're neglecting him is total bs... if you don't have time to brush your dog 5 times a day every single day (and yes that is what it takes to keep my baby mat free, I skip one brushing and she already begins to mat) and he winds up getting matted, that's not neglect. If he didn't take his dog to get groomed and left him like that for months at a time, then yeah that is neglect. Get it right people!

    • @Kenz0108
      @Kenz0108 7 років тому +21

      mariblu3 There is a massive difference between a couple loose tangles starting to form and being matted so tightly and on enough of the body that they feel they need to shave the entire dog. 5 times daily is over brushing and can cause brush burn to the dog. It's not necessary. Daily at most for something like a show shih tzu that would have a floor length coat is sufficient. I agree that she should've communicated much better about having to shave the dog. However, I was just trying to explain to him what more than likely happened since she obviously did not. If you don't have the time to properly care for the breed of dog you have, don't get it. It's that simple. There are plenty of much more low-maintenance breed options. That's why it's important to do proper research on the temperament, exercise requirements, grooming requirements, etc. on a breed before purchasing/adopting. I can't tell you how many doodle owners I've had come in that their breeder told them they're hypoallergenic or that they don't need to be brushed.xD Education is key.

      EpilepticGiraffesX how do you know that the dog was matted? The groomer could have easily been a con artist! Saving the fur means nothing, he didn't say that the fur looked matted. As a guy willing to pay it seems like he wouldn't lie about something like that! Judging him without facts is just wrong.

  • @dufocar566

    I was a dog groomer and have a dog like yours. When they are not brushed regularly, they mat like crazy. The first mistake the lady did was to not look at your dog properly upon arrival. It is true, that when a dog is really matted, it takes twice the time. Plus you cannot shave them without brushing them first. It takes forever and there is no way she could have cut just a bit of hair. She had to use a short blade in order to get through all the mats. And most probably, your dog was also very matted on his butt. She must have used a blade that cuts super short in order to not hurt the dog or give it razor burn. All this being said, her major problem was her attitude. If she had explained it all with patience (how can you know all of this, you're not a groomer), it would have gone without a hitch. Again, you always look at the dog you will be grooming beforehand. Dog grooming is a very tidious and hard work although it looks super easy. It takes time and patience, two things she obviously did not have. Not to mention the attitude....

  • @Itsleeuhhhhh
    @Itsleeuhhhhh 7 років тому +4

    As a groomer, depending on how matted your dog was, sometimes the only way to fix it is to shave everything completely off, it doesn't matter how much you wanted cut off. We won't be able to "style" your dog with it being matted and knotted all the way to the skin. Her yelling was unnecessary, but depending on how matted your dog was, I could imagine her frustration and why she charged double. Start brushing your dog more often. Those breeds of dogs need brushing VERY often as they have extremely curly hair and it's easy for it to knot.

    Ive been a dog groomer for 6 years now, and we don't take matted dogs lightly because it's VERY uncomfortable for the dog and can be VERY sore for the dog so I agree with her shaving the coat. Looks like she kept the head, so that's good. As for the hygiene area (balls, bum etc) we always take them super short so the dog can go to the toilet freely and not get poo tangled in hair. Now, only the groomer knows what went on in the salon, the reason the dog looked terrified when you picked him up could have been due to the fact that the mats were so bad, none of the blades were going through the coat easily. But the coat would cause more damage being on than coming off, every time he god wet, those mats would get tighter causing him more pain. That being said, that's the only thing I disagree with you about. I think she went the complete wrong way about telling you, personally, I would have checked the coat condition upon arrival and told you about it then. Told you then it would be double the cost because it takes a lot more time and ruins the blades. I would have also explained how short he would be, to bring a jacket for him and how to prevent it in future. If you still didn't want much off the coat, I would simply refuse to do the dog. Like I said earlier, wetting the dog to bath it would be so painful for him, mats can even cause sores underneath. It's cruel but I don't think people are educated enough about it.

      Yes. Like it sounds like his dog was matted. The only time i've ever kept the coat to show the owner was when the dog was matted so bad that it came off all in just a few peices due to mats. But i guess it's the groomer's fault that the dog got matted. :/

      I have the same policy. I will not any pet with matted or tangled hair. Period. If you can not learn to properly keep your pets hair tangle free, then you should expect the dog to be shaved down. It is cruelty to animals to wash a dog with matted hair, because that will cause the hair to become even more matted, like washing a wool sweater. I am in total agreement that the groomers customer service was awful, she should never treat a client that way, she was wrong on every front. But I am happy to see that groomers are making a stand to no longer perform services for matted dogs. It is truly a liability for us to accept dogs with matted hair.

    Unfortunately I work at a dog grooming salon and a lot of people come in with their dogs, not knowing what condition your dog was and I can't put judgment on the situation you're talking about. But The dogs that come into my work are super matted down which can cause terrible problems, at one point a dog was so matted once we had to shave the mats to remove them we found maggots inside of his skin because that he had been matted for so long, you risk cutting the dog very badly if you try to scissor out the mats to make the fur stay long, but you also risk brush burning the dog to try and brush the tangles out, if you had dreads all over your body, as in tangles which we tell the customers it depends on the coats condition, nine times out of 10 even in the winter we have to shave some of the pets that come in because the owners don't brush their dog every day like a human would, sometimes I wish customers could see what we deal with and how bad their dog is in pain from trying to brush out all the tangles there for, the most health beneficial option is to shave the matted for off of the dogs coat. And unfortunately it is very time-consuming and pushes our other customers back when we have to spend extra time brushing out the tangles that the owner should've taken care of before bringing to the grooming salon. Sounds like they were very unprofessional and I'm sorry for your experience, but from the professional standard of grooming and the reason why dogs need to be groomed on a regular basis, your dog had to be shaved if it was matted to the skin. In other words if you you feel any kind of cotton ball like fluffs inside the hair that may not look noddy, it's actually bunched up tangled hair with a very soft texture and you have to request them to not shave the genitals, it is a health concern when there's hair around the genitals or anal area due to feces sticking to the fur and causing infections. I hope you don't take offense, I just have a little insight to the actual grooming process. Best of luck to whatever groomer you pick next

    Honestly, I don't send my pet to any groomers anymore. The last time I did it was for 2 stray kittens, one you can see in my picture, those kittens were just 2 bags of fleas. So I sent the kittens to the groomer, I bought the specific shampoo that I want them to bath the cats in because I know from experience that one shampoo kills ALL flea. The only thing I don't want was bringing home 2 bags of fleas to bath them myself.
    But, guess what... I got my kittens back, groomer charged me extra because kitten needed extra care (okay acceptable, even though they should have told me before I left), and THEIR dryer scared the crap out of one kitten so they had to clean him over again, and they ALSO charged me extra for that. On top of that they didn't even use the shampoo I gave them, but the shampoo was used. The shampoo has this scent that I can recognize, they told me they put pet perfume on them. Not only that the kittens are still just 2 bags of fleas.
    I didn't even bother to argue back. I paid all the fees and bath the kittens myself. Done all fleas gone. I don't even know what was so difficult for them. I just didn't want to bring 2 bags of fleas for the rest of my cats.
    I also had a groomer years ago that clipped my dog's nail from the base of the nails. I was so upset when I saw that, and he told me if they don't clip it that way the quick will grow longer and longer.... AND HE WAS A DOG GROOMER!

I've flea combed them and find a few fleas still. I'm at wits end. I moved to a new house, and flea situation is better though. But I want the dang bugs dead lol. In short I used Hartz flea products. But, I found a way better way is to soak the cat in dish cleaner water, and drown the fleas. The shampoo was the UltraGuard cat shampoo. This version comes in slim round blue bottle, unlike the rest that comes in a somewhat clear bottle. I used Hartz cat collar. I don't use flea drops on cat, but I used Hartz UltraGuard Plus flea drops on my little dog. I know the shampoo said do not use with kittens, but it has never failed me so far.
      I still use all these products on all of my cats and dogs.
      But, sometime it isn't about what product you have used on your animal, instead it's the environment. If where you live rain and flood often, you will have a lot of flea, no matter what you have used on your pet. It happened to me too.
      Also, when you deal with flea, you have to take care of all your carpets, your pet's bedding, its bed etc. That includes even your sofa. First, change your pet's bed everyday. Vacuum sofa, floor, flea comb your dog on a surface that you can vacuum after. Do everyday for at least 3 days to a week. Flea larvae depends on flea dirt, which is flea's droppings. They are black crumbly dirts, if you put in water it will melt into brown stain. If you don't provide food for larvae you can stop the cycle for a little.
      Almost forgot to say if your area has a lot of rats, then you WILL have lots and lots of fleas.

      Yes, I'm very aware that some pets are allergic to their flea products. I did foster kittens. I pick them up from the street, raise them and put them to shelter. I have always used Hartz products, and I never have any problem with them. But, I cannot say the same with their flea drops, especially for cat, because I believe I just won't put any chemical on an animal that would constantly lick their body. When I used on my dog, I started with a small area. I use 1/3 of each tube each month, and that worked already. I have to say, unless it's rain season, I don't use flea drops on dog. I don't really like the smell.
      But, to be fair, we never know if they used the product the wrong way. They might have used the wrong dose. We don't know what medical history their pet has. Their pet might have sensitive skin to begin with.

    The problem I saw most in grooming miscommunication with clients. My aunt's dog, who was double-coated, was shaved which is something you should not do unless they have a skin problem. Clients also lied about keeping up with the care of their pet's coat and some were just super picky, but my boss had people be extra specific, down to the comb size on the clipper to ensure they got what they wanted.

    I did grooming for a while and I always explained first to the customer that if their dog is too tightly matted (when the mats are too thick and tight to the skin basically) that I would have to go shorter than they would like to properly get the mats out because sometimes it's just too much to comb out even with a dematting comb. She should have called you and talked to you about what was going on instead of just doing it... The ass shave though is called a sanitary. We typically do our own dogs with a Size 10 blade for the sanitary which makes the fur buzzcut short. Your dogs ass was like legit baby pink balled LOL. I have had people request that but holy crap like I said she should have talked to you first!

    I am a dog groomer...i never give a solid price on a matted dog because it can always go up depends on the time it takes...plus if a pet parent doesn't do their job by regularly brushing and combing at home then you give your groomer no choice but to do the safest and that is to shave under those matts...and most of the time matts are close to the skin...it can be very painful to the dog that's why they can act weird after grooming.

    Reminds me of a moving company I hired. I got an estimate, and agreed on it. They asked about stairs and such, I made sure they understood I was moving to the third floor of an apartment condo building with no elevator, and they understood. The truck arrived, and suddenly they were telling me they didn't know they'd have to carry boxes and furniture up stairs and that they didn't know there was no elevator, so they didn't bring a dolly for carrying boxes, they said. And it was going to cost me half as much again for my stuff to be moved out of the truck. I was very upset, but kept my cool and didn't budge on the agreed price; they were already getting a juicy tip from me. If they forgot the dolly, or were misinformed by management, after I made a significant effort to make sure they understood things would have to be carried up a staircase, it wasn't my fault like they were claiming. I managed to eventually talk them down from the sudden extra $90, and still gave them their tip.

      Iloveanime Iloveanime as a groomer I would love it if I could let the owners see, but I can't and for very good reason, often if the owner is present the dog will do nothing but try to get to them, this makes it dangerous to try to use clippers and scissors around them. Also some owners get very upset and defensive about their dog being disciplined, not in an aggressive or mean way but often we have to tell a dog no in a stern voice, again this is for the dogs safety, to discourage behaviours that are dangerous, but not everyone can understand that. (There's also lots of praise to encourage all the good behaviour too)

    as a dog groomer a matted dog should always be shaved down. I don't have the time to spend 4 or 5 hours dematting your dog and your dog would be in pain and very stressed. On top of that you WANT the genitals to be short. It stops infection and stops poop being getting stuck in the fur. It is called a hygiene clip and very common and good for your dog. However I would have explained all this when you brought the dog in. I always explain the condition of the dog BEFORE I groom it.

    Hi, I'm a dog groomer and if the dog was matted, there is very little choice but to shave it short like that. Shaving around the crotch area is also commonly done as it's very sensitive skin and loose skin, prone to clippers catching and damaging the skin so for hygiene and safety reasons you have to shave under there. Dogs being scared at and after grooming, is also common. It is a stressful experience for the dog, because you are changing their appearance, and more importantly, their scent! there is also a lot of handling of legs that they are not use to, and dogs often hate baths. It's also noisy as the dryers and bath and other dogs there to cause the dog more stress. However, charging double, was wrong, ... they should have given you an updated quote the minute they laid eyes on your dog and noticed the mats. That's what I do. I tell them in advance, but it's never double!!! it's generally 5 or 10 dollars more.

    As a pet groomer, I am very disappointed in that grooming centre that you went to. Firstly, even if she did not check your dog for tangles, she should have called to let you know that she had to shave him because of the matts before she started. Secondly yes she should have called you with regards to the difference in price. A hard to groom dog does not mean the groomer has the right to do whatever he/she wants to the dog. You should never go back to that shop. BUT most groomers do shave the butthole/penis area. That's normal. And brush your dog often if you want to keep a long coat :)

    1st time with my dog was 6 months old, took him to Petco., they cut his nails so short they bleeding and he was crying., I freaked out, that was the one and only time., took me 6 months with a mussel to earn his trust. Now he is 12 years old, I have done everything for my dog, including other vet care., he hates getting shots and doesn't trust anyone but me., I'm glad you put this video up to make people aware., also others sharing their stories., a lot of stuff, baths, hair cuts, cutting nails and more you can do yourself, search you tube for videos., as pet owners we won't hurt our animals., it's safer too !

      David De Leon wow, really¿? I'm guessing you've never owned a dog with thin curly hair... my dog is spoiled rotten and completely cared for And once get hair gets a certain length I have to brush her every time I take her out and if I skip one time she already gets mats. Just FYI, maybe know what you're talking about before you speak??? I dunno seems like a good idea.

    My daughter is a pet groomer - an occupation she has a lot of passion for. She loves the dogs and takes great care to see that they are treated as her own. Owners like you, however, are her biggest peeves!! You come in with your little dog who hasn't seen a brush through his/her coat in weeks but you tell them you "groom" your dog "everyday". The dog is matted beyond a simple hair cut - a condition that is extremely painful for your dog. The dog is in pain and nervous. This takes more time on the groomers part. She has to proceed slowly so that the dog stays calm and the mats are removed as painless as possible. So instead of taking an hour that your dog is booked in for, it takes 2 or possible 3 hours to de-mat your dog and what? You don't expect to pay for that!! Do you work 2 or 3 hours a day for nothing??? (This also puts the groomer behind on other pets also needing her attention - your dog isn't the only animal she will be working with that day)
    Pet grooming is one of the lowest paid jobs in animal health care and one of the top dangerous jobs to do. You may think your little Fido is the best behaved baby in the world but that doesn't necessarily mean he/she is or is going to be a perfect angel at a strange place especially if little Fido doesn't see her/his groomer very often
    . My daughter has had dogs lunge at her face; they have bitten her; they have scratched her arms, legs and face - still she loves her job. She comes home, pulls out the tweezers and starts to pull hair slivers (yes there is such a thing - I"ve seen them) out of her hands and arms. Left untreated and these will become infected and will need medical attention to remove them. Smaller particles of hair float in the air and the groomers inhale these on a daily basis which can cause respiratory problems as their careers progress. They cut themselves almost weekly - putting their fingers and hands in between the dog and the shears so that your dog stays safe.
    People! Animals are not humans. They do not sit still while they get their hair cut; they bite when they feel nervous ( do you get nervous when you get your hair cut and try to bite your hair stylist); groomers often do "sanitation clean up" - meaning they wash and cut the hair around your dogs butt (do you get your butt washed by your stylist and your butt hairs cut); the animals will poop and pee on them; anal glands will explode and the shit that comes out of there will make you hurl!!!!
    You want to save some bucks at the pet groomer then do yourself and your dog a favor and groom him/her daily. You brush your hair everyday (I hope). What makes you think your dog's hair doesn't need attention in a similar fashion??? Leave your hair unkept for weeks or months on end and see what your hair stylist has to say!!
    Oh and next time you take Fido to the pet groomer, get to know the groomer, ask what they think is the best for Fido (you haven't a clue - they have the education (oh yes. You have to go to school to work in this profession) and they work on animals everyday - they really do know what's best for little Fido); when you pick Fido up, ask how he/she behaved after all, unless you do take Fido regularly (every 6 to 8 weeks), going to the groomers is a stressful situation (very similar to going to the vet) then tip your groomer or at least thank them very much for the job they do. The groomer isn't your enemy - she is there to make Fido feel good and working with her rather than against her is better for you and for Fido. Be honest when booking your appointment ("No. I don't brush my dog everyday." is not going to be met with "You're a shitty dog owner") the groomer will appreciate your honesty and will give you a closer estimate as to the cost.

    As a pet groomer, you are so right! Its one thing if a dog comes in matted (and sometimes its hard to tell depending on the fur type) but they should NEVER charge you extra/change the type of service without calling you. It takes 30 seconds to pick up a phone to advise your client of the change and to ask if they want you to proceed. As a groomer (and pet owner/lover) I treat my clients as I would ask to be treated. Also if a groomer doesn't let you stay while your dog is being groomed, question it! The odd time pups won't settle down to be groomed safely if mom and dad are in the room but most of the time there is no issue with the owners watching.

    If you would like to avoid a matting fee, my suggestion is to invest in a 5 dollar brush and use it properly. You have a very high maintainance dog and I can not tell you how many people I've seen like you who don't take care of their dog and expect a dog groomer to hurt the dog brushing it out then gripe that their dog has to be shaved and that their being charged more because the groomer doesn't want to hurt the dog anymore just because you want it to look cute. And YES a dog will act freaked out if you wait until he's almost a year to have him groomed, separate him from his pack from everything he has ever known, have a stranger pull his hair, spray him with water, shampoo, air, brush him, clip his nails, etc.. It's a stressful experience but it's not abusive. Matt removal is painful however and that pain was likely caused by your negligence. The groomer had every right to charge what she did. dogs are living breathing feeling things and they don't just stand there especially when they're in pain from their owners negligence. please educate yourself on how to properly maintain your pet and you may have better luck in the future. side note: the genitals are commonly shaved in grooming, it is called a sanitary trim. This keeps feces from collecting on hairs around the anus which can cause a rash. Had this not been your dogs first groom in his entire life, you would already know that. good day!

    • @Embracesuck
      @Embracesuck 7 років тому +12

      He explained that he was ok with the price, the issue is not the price or double charge, its the fact that
      a) He was not notified that there was going to be a change in price
      b) He asked for a little hair to be taken off, not shaved entirely.
      c) He was yelled at, which is not how you hand customers.
      If you had ever workedbin the dog grooming business you would know that this lady's behavior was not at all standard or appropriate.

    if your not brushing you dog and a groomer shaved the dog down its becouse you are an irresponsible dog owner. beauty takes time and u cant expect the groomer to be a miracle worker. its more cruel to sit there and split and dematt a poor little dog becouse u didnt take the time to brush the dog. i cant speak on how your dog was handled but i dont see a problem with them shaving your dog. i agree they were 100 percent wrong for not calling u before they both charged u double or even shaved your dog. im a dog groomer and its policy to always call ahead. just saying i think you need to brush and comb a poodle or poodle mix daily if you want that fluffy look. beauty takes time and us groomers are not miracle workers

    People need to understand that when a groomer saves your dogs matted hair...that means it was matted HEAD TO TOE, and we stripped it alllll off like that. THAT HURTS YOUR DOG TREMENDOUSLY. So we in turn, see you as bad owners! Because instead of just taking the time (5 mins a day) to brush your dog, we have to watch it suffer for hours while we pull and tug at their hair and skin...and then they bite us and poop and pee all over because they are in pain and terrified. Not because of us...because of you. You need to see things from other people's perspectives as well. Dealing with that day in and out, and then having people not want to pay for your hard work is demeaning, and extremely irritating. Especially when you have to watch THEIR DOGS SUFFER because of them.
    YOUR DOG BEING MATTED IS AKIN TO YOUR CHILD ACQUIRING DREAD LOCKS FROM YOU NOT BRUSHING THEIR HAIR....and then you go into the hair salon and expect the stylist to brush their hair out for 2-3 hours? Pulling and tugging while your child is literally screaming and crying and trying to get away the whole time? Its sick. We deal with this kind of nonsense every single day. He states that the dog's genital area was shaved to the skin....DUH! it always is in the grooming world. This is called a 'sanitary' for a reason. We shave the area for sanitary purposes. And his dog most likely had poop matted in with the fur...which in turn causes horrible infections, is extremely painful and uncomfortable, and causes the dog to not be able to use the bathroom because the poop/mats are blocking the butt/pee holes. We ALWAYS shave the sanitary areas. Always. All of you people complaining saying 'they shaved my dog when I asked for a trim!!' The ONLY reason we would do this against your wishes is if your dog is matted...we can not in good conscious leave a dog with matted fur. This is actual ABUSE. These mats HURT your dog. They tug at the skin constantly. They causes irritation, rashes, infections, skin damage, or worse...why would YOU want to leave your dog this way? And we do not want to sit there for hours tugging at your dogs fur. It takes long enough, and is painful enough to just shave the hair...pulling st it for hours is torture. Literal torture for your dog. They bite and flail around and try to throw themselves off of our tables because of how painful it is...but you are pissed because your dogs hair is too short?! We dont shave them 'just for the hell of it' it isn't any easier than using a clipper comb at a longer length. Or pricier. We do it to benefit your dog. Your 'baby' that you care so much about. There could be an infestation of fleas in those mats and you wouldn't even know. Or infections, wounds, etc etc...but all you care about is the money, right? And $35 is an INCREDIBLY low price. Thst dog would have been $50-$70 BEFORE THE DEMATTING anywhere else. I'm assuming the dog came in around 9-10:00, that means it took 4-5 hours to get those mats out...which is really, really bad. And if she saved the mats...we dont do that unless the dog is 100% covered head to toe...so we have proof of how bad your dog was matted. Just how careless you are. To ask for a 'trim' means you know absolutely nothing about your dog, its breed, coat, or grooming...nor do you care. And if you can't afford the hair cuts every month or can'ttake 5 mins out of your day to brush it...dont get the dog! And do NOT defame a place by calling them 'abusive' because your dog 'looked terrified' when you picked it up...of course it looked terrified...IT WAS TERRIFIED...and in an immense amount of pain! But whose fault is that? Not the groomers! They did your dog a service and took the bites, and scratches and pain of watching your dog in pain...the pay isnt good when we spend that amount of time trying to get through your dogs matted coat...$35/4-5 hours is what? Below minimum wage...so no crap she upped the price. You need to lay for your neglect. Every shop I know charges dematting fees if you dont want to brush your dog...get used to it, or get used to coming in every 4 weeks to have the dog clipped SHORT so it doesn't ever have to go through that torment again. They bite us, poop and pee on the table, and try to throw themselves around to get away because they are in so much pain. YOU are the abuser. Take responsibility for your actions. If you had a complaint, it was a price issue and the fact that you werent notified of the price change in advance...that is all.how would you like it if someone posted a video saying you abused your kids for no good reason, or because they didnt agree with something you did? People can be so disgusting. Grow up. Defamation isnt'cool'. I hope she sues you. And I feel soooo very bad for your dog. Let me guess, you've let it get matted a number of more times havent you? Lol. People like you never learn because all you can do is blame everyone else for your mistakes and wrong doings.
