About Dude Dad:
Hi! I'm Taylor Calmus, a rural South Dakota born and Colorado-based actor/comedian. I started Dude Dad© two weeks before my son Theo was born as a way to stay creative while learning to be a father. My wife Heidi and I now have 4 kids and over 500+ videos. We also have a TV show on the Magnolia Network called Super Dad. My purpose for the channel is to entertain, enlighten and inspire.

So glad that you guys have a neighborhood you love. That's so important. I grew up in a cul-de-sac with 18 kids among 8 families. The outdoor play and social interaction were magical and I'm so grateful I was able to grow up in an environment like that! You are preserving something very special and important for your kids, even if they don't know it yet.
Those memories in the neighborhood are the BEST!
You made a wise decision! Not only would you miss your neighbors, but they would all miss you guys A LOT!!! You have created one big family in the neighborhood and all the fun times and memories will always be a part of the entire neighborhood. Your children will have the best memories when they are adults reminiscing about…remember when we… ! Can’t wait to see the new addition when it’s all done. Enjoy these times and continue to be blessed! 🙏🏼😎❤️
Thanks for the laughs! Love watching your videos. I lost my 15-year-old son three years ago to suicide. I can't say enough how much I LOVE your kindness reminders that you have (saw one on your wall and in the yard). Kindness is so important it can literally save a life. Again thank you for the laughs and cherish those precious babies
Oh wow...thanks for sharing a bit of your story and I'm happy that my channel can bring you even a little joy.
😮😢🙏🏾💕‼️
how much to move this pile of dirt? about a thousand.... will that guy make an apperance in this renovation... he really stuck it to ya guys for the patio... just sayin
yeaaaah...word is he took the check and moved to Mexico.

@DudeDad We need him to come back to the States for a visit! 😂
Love that you are renovating instead of moving! My parents made the same decision (with the 4th kid!)... I grew up on a street with 54 kids! It was a great childhood, and I so appreciate that they didn't move us 'up'! You go! This will be fun!
The HOA called. You don’t have an approval for that tree, or the hole, OR the noise. 😅
LOL
6:10 at this point in the video I’m beginning to wonder if you’re only doing this so the kids can watch awesome machinery in progress 😂
Excited for Taylor to have another project. Your kids are so lucky to have you guys as parents. Heidi looked so great in that rust colored jumpsuit thingy.
Oh man, this episode hit as hard as the last couple of episodes of Bluey for me!
And if you didn’t get a new house, we wouldn’t get those awesome construction videos that I personally love and has inspired me to start construction and helping my friends out onto their homes and remodel
Glad you're saving the pavers for another project!
I'm so excited for a new Dude Dad family renovation series!!!
This is so fun! The moment of Heidi looking with “Deep Concern” made me lol! We all hit that moment with projects.
You guys are the best parents in the world. Staying were your kids have their friends is gold. I got moved around a lot as a kid, and I hated it.
This comment will probably be lost among the others but I just wanted to say that I love how much you both love your kids and everything you do for t hem. I don't have kids but I had a crappy childhood and seeing how much love your family has for each other warms my heart.
Also totally agree that renovating was definitely the right call. Your kids will have so many wonderful memories growing up in that neighborhood and all the blood, sweat, tears, and dollars spent are worth that.
Plus, the lessons teaching the kids the _"how to's"_ including " knowing your limits" and the *very* important _"How to decide to give yourself a break and get help rather than carry the whole load."_
Awww ❤ love it! Money can’t buy the memories you’re making !! WOWWWWW
You're literally living the dream. I can't imagine a world where we had enough money to actually build an addition to our home... I pray one day we can do things like this!!
Right!? I’m so jealous of all the space she has! And she only has 4 kids. I have 7 and her current house is probably double mine. I have 3 or 4 kids per room. And my kitcken is a 1/4 of hers.
Amen
The video inspired my husband and I to pursue getting our house rezoned to add a mother-in-law suite with our retirement. It will solve our issues of space with four growing kids and be a rental as our retirement investment. We can’t afford to move. Taking fines on our current 401(k) isn’t logical for 95% of people, but I am in my 30’s with six people in this house, a kitchen that is smaller and less functional than most tiny home builds (we have to keep food and cooking supplies in the unfinished basement) and 6 people with one one bath/shower and no master bedroom is worth the risk. We only have 10 years left on our mortgage. We are locked in at a good interest rate after we refinanced after 15 years from a 30 to a 15 year(paying fines for that too), we don’t have liquid money, but sometimes you have to see the money you have tied up, that could be a car that could be lots of things and figure out a better way to invest what your already investing. And I know there are people who aren’t investing yet, that’s probably the first start. If you’re in business for yourself and not making a lot of money right now, but have potential in the future consider a Roth IRA, and most of all just stay out of debt, no one should ever buy optional things like entertainment, fast food, or coffee on a credit card, those people are making the poor choices that lead to being poor. As Dave Ramsey says, some people need to learn how to eat beans and rice. We did our beans and rice years, now we can fix the problem of the humble house I bought at 20. Our family has never made a lot of money, but remember even Dude Dad is WORKING for this, it’s an investment, no not a rental like our idea, it’s his comedy and building gift turned into entertainment as he doesn’t just remodel a house because he has money he does this to make money by putting his efforts online. Even when I was pregnant at 20, that was the perfect time for me to start a business where I got certified to teach mommy and me classes, think about it, there’s always solutions, don’t just think about it, actually pray and God will help you find them. Most often as you rest like being on UA-cam. 💕
Heidi and Taylor: Looks like a promising project whose time has come, for all the right reasons. It's good to have a neighborhood you love. Well done hiring contractors for most of the work this time. I would suggest TWO washers & dryers, solar & wind power on the roof, rain barrels and dew harvesting. Happy additioning! 💖💖💖
I love it! When I was a kid, my parents were CONSTANTLY remodelling and adding on to our house. I thought it was just normal to live with sawdust LOL. But seriously, they over doubled the square footage of their house from when I was a kid... and I always thought it was SO COOL, and I learned a lot just from watching them design and build things. You get a home you love, in a location you love, and your kids get a cool experience & even cooler house!! All sounds WAY better than moving to me! :) Good luck with everything!
Your kids are so lucky to have you as parents . You stick together through thick and thin. You do your very best to give your kids the best memories and this house will be super special for them when they grow up because it’s not just a house , it’s a home you basically built , changed , added to , played in, laughed In , cried in.. it’s just really special to watch 😊
*When the kids become teenagers* "We're blowing the roof off and building a skyscraper!"
Next it will be we r going off grid!!! Ditching CO, here we go!
@@robaer9677
That would be an interesting shift in lifestyle for them.
They'll just blow the roof off for fun, no logical reasons at all 🤣🤣
Nice but a lot of work and food but manly water is it Warterproof
I definitely understand the need for more space/storage. We’re a family of 6 too and for 20 years we lived in 1100 sq feet. During Covid we were finally able to finish our basement so that doubled our living space. We still need to make a bathroom downstairs.
I’d love to build an addition onto our house, our kitchen/dinning room is a bit cramped. Maybe one day!
Love it!!! And the movie at the end 😍💙🥹
I like how kids get so excited for just piles of dirt. My 2 year old has been helping his grandparents garden for the past month. He has a tiny hand shovel he uses to put dirt into the wheel barrow and loves it.
I bet you had a lot of fun designing the add-on!
Took A LOT of thought and was fun to dream up.
Congratulations on your next big step in renovating your house. I am saying this because you both have worked so hard and should be proud to be able to afford a renovation addition. Your reason to stay made me shed a tear. Living on a cul-de-sac is irreplaceable, and an incredible space for children to play. I grew up living on one, and when my husband and I moved 9 years ago to our current house, it was the only thing not check off on our list. We sacrificed this and I deeply regret it. You can change the bones of any house, but not the neighbourhood. You are so blessed with such a friendly community, especially in this day and age when it is the norm not to know your own neighbour. For this reason, no one should give you grief on the decision you made. We want to move to a better neighbourhood to give our children a better childhood and even though we are finally paying off our mortgage after all these years (at the end of this quarter) we are considering carrying another mortgage for a better neighbourhood and childhood for our kids. This would mean us likely having to delay retirement another 5 years each with how much houses are now compared to 9 years ago. We also did not know we would have 5 kids, and we moved in when we had just 2. The friendship of neighbours is irreplaceable and such a gift! Thank you for inspiring others to be a cul-de-sac king and a good neighbour. Congratulations again. (PS loved your live show.)
I love that you value your community and have chosen to stay!
It's crazy to me how big all the kids are!
Watching your kids enjoyment and reactions to this is so heart warming and cool as a mom of two little ones! They’re growing up and getting to see them experience this is so cute - let along the awesomeness of the hole being a movie theatre 🍿
This is so exciting! I can’t wait to follow along with you on this journey and to see the final product!!
Not crazy at all!! The neighborhood is WHAT makes a home worth living most times! We plan to do the same, and the neighbors behind us did exactly this to the back of their place three years ago! Over the weekend I counted 25 kids, ranging from 2.5 up to 15 in our backyards with various parents mingling.. That's the type if stuff that is nearly impossible to find when house hunting! Gon on yah dude dad!!
So happy for you all! You and your wife Heidi, your kids, and your neighborhood ❤
You two have the funnest family. I can't wait to see everything, start to finish and I am happy for all of you that you have found your home for the long haul and are adding on to the space that you have done so much work to.
So exciting! I just last week finaled the permit for our home addition. A similar situation, did most all of the work ourselves and it took about 3 years. Good luck!
I love that you are staying in this beautiful home and just adding to it. ❤
Aww 🥰 I am so happy for you guys.. and for the friends in your neighborhood! Way to spend a childhood!
Oh I love the home renovation videos!!! I have to confess that I thought "why don't they just move" but once you explained, i understood! The fact that Taylor has done so much to the house already just seems so sad to abandon the house and go somewhere else!
6:00 i kept thinking of mike mulligan and his steam shovel. He digs a little faster and a little better when people are watching 😁
I saw the title and immediately thought ADDING ON! ANOTHER HOUSE PROJECT!! HERE WE GO AGAIN! 😂😂 also I love the updated intro for “Home Renovations!! I’m sure it’ll work out eventually, you always get it done and done right and it amazes me every time! You just need A Couple More Days!
Cheers 🍻 Taylor!
6:01 love Heidi’s outfit!!
Definitely braver then I am taking on a project that big.
But I'm so happy for you all!!
So excited for you guys. Thanks for bringing us along 🙂❤
This is awesome! You've put your heart (and sweat!) into this house and neighborhood. I'm glad you found a solution that works for you and will only take a Couple More Days!
You guys found a great life keep it an keep moving forward an bring the same lvl of joy you have for so long
Bro I literally have the exact same layout of home from the 60's in Maryland, doing an addition myself, and literally have said the same things. The one where you can't finish the stairs because you have to take supplies through the stairs and your wife said ok, I and y wife said it. Bro I get you so much. Ps my wife got me your shirt.
The movie night in the pit at the end is so neat!!
🪣 I love, love, love how much fun the kids are havng! Kudos to you and Heidi for letting them play in the dirt, play in the big hole, and anything else they can discover.
You two are awesome! Your kids are awesome! I'm excited to see this all come together. The steps you take are just as much fun as the final product.
We got a safety fence but we were like "Nahhh let em' play" :)
@@DudeDad ~ Yep! You've made it a safe space for them. If it wasn't safe you'd put the fence up. They're having a blast!
One day I hope Heidi gets to do a long project while he takes care of the kids lol.
Now THIS is the reason my family originally subscribed to your channel! Can't wait to see more
Thanks for tuning in
Can’t wait to watch the rest of this!
You guys are the best! You add so much to Fort Collins! ❤
Plus have you seen the cost of buying a house these days! It's insane. By adding on, you'll get exactly what you want, and stay in your neighborhood.
THIS
Not to mention how interests rates are higher then they were in 2020
Love this! I'm so excited to see this come together!
But does your neighborhood love you is the question?😅... Oh my goodness what an undertaking! Can't wait to watch more❤
Yay! So excited to watch the addition!
"Here are the 2 most giant guys i could find to help out"....... hahahah
Love it. Can't wait to see what amazing things you do.
You guys are great! Love watching you grow!!
YAAASSS!!! you're extending the house! absolutely perfect call Tay and Heidi
All the beautiful exterior work that was done, it feels like it was yesterday 😢 Ultimately it's being done for great reasons, like y'all's forever home... Or at least for a super duper long time 😊 I can't wait to see how it all comes together!
Love how end with couple more days 😂
Awesome project! I get why you're staying!!! ❤
YIPPEE!!!!
🦘 to it 🔨 ⚒️
Keep SAFE in your giant HOLE 🕳️ lotta Fun !!
Sooo exciting for you allllll!!!! 👽💞✨
Nice! Can not wait to see the progress. 👍
I do not think you are crazy! I really appreciate that you're documenting this journey, showing that it's doable, and that add-ons are realistic. We've been saving for a house, but it has been difficult because starter houses are difficult to find now that houses have gotten bigger. Getting a starter house and adding on later is much more realistic for some people than an outrageous mortgage.
I'd like to think that Charlie Berens had Teeny play in this, Bet having his Own Guest Bathroom is going to be a Gamechanger when he visits 😆
I love this for y'all!!❤
Yay love the reno vids!
4:54 Truest thing ever said! Love your videos thank you!
Pretty amazing
Looking forward to it!
Me too...once it's done...haha
I’m glad we’re not the only ones who ripped apart a previous renovation to do a different, bigger renovation 😂 we will be crazy with you guys! God bless your efforts.
A couple more days got me 😂 happy for y’all!
You and your family are so great. So glad I get to be part of it.
The basement stairs, “in a couple more days”. 😅😂
Woo hoo, e get to.tsg along with you all. I love seeing the growth. Blessings over this build. 🙏🏽
thanks for tuning in!!
Can’t wait to see the results!
You all have such a sweet family. I am sure it is going to look amazing in the end. Can’t wait to see it! 😊
Your neighbours must love you!
I mean, they get to ride a roller coaster!
@@DudeDad fair point, well made! :-) I'm just grumpy that my downstairs neighbours had the TEMERITY! to a) get a dog; and b) have a baby.
You don’t find neighbors or a community like that anymore. ❤
You may be crazy but it looks good on you! 😂
Looks fun!
Excited to See this Renovation!!!
6:04 that’s the same wow boys use when fire is involved 😂😂😂
You're not wrong
Love this so much! We bought a piece of property and build our dream home in a cul-de-sac to give our kids the childhood we had! our community has a bunch of kids our kids age and we became really good friends with everyone here so we will be staying here for a very long time! ❤
You found your community and that is 100% awesome!
Dude! Yes to the vlog series!
Man I can’t wait to see how this all turns out!!! It’s gonna be BEUTIFUL🎉🎉
Dude Dad,
You're an inspiration for dads to follow. Awesome job with all of the projects you've covered!
Super excited for this!
The movie from the hole 😅.
Heidi, what's your secret!? So beautiful!!
I love the new theater room!
your neighbors must be so patient & understanding 😂
I like the "not from California" note on there. 😂
Wow !! Good luck !! I’ll keep watching. Your children are adorable!! 😀😀😀😀😀😀
100% with you on the neighbors! We left our old house for a new build, that is much larger. But we found that we miss our old neighbors tremendously. Yes, we have connected with some of our new neighbors but unfortunately, we have not been able to connect with some of our next door neighbors. I mention this because of the outside movie towards the end of the video. We used to do that with 6 or so neighbors. Now we have to deal with our new neighbors complaining, even when the sound is off. UGH!!!
Holy crap the Dingo has a hammer attachment… inspiration. Agree on the having touched every square inch and neighborhood community… priceless
Good luck with all the construction! It’s going to go very smoothly for you now that you have had experience with so much!! Celebrate 🎉
_"Babe! I fell on my spleen!"_ 😯😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😅🤣🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂😅😅😉👍
I am 68 years old and I wish you were my dad!!! 😁😁

It looks great! Just need a couple more days.
