I was never a massive stunticon fan, but this is, so far, amazing. They've still got to nail the combined mode, but the bots as a team display so well together I'm 99% certain that's how ill have them.
Menasor has always been my favourite of the combiners and have been looking to get a good release of them in 3rd party. I like how this Dragstrip turned out, almost feel he's got one of the better cartoon looks to him that we've gotten from 3rd party companies...granted he seems to have a few issues but I think I might start picking these up based on seeing this review, thanks for sharing Bobby!
Great video, I’ve got mine inbound from ShowZ... love the chrome on the figure but wish there was just a bit more paint to break up all the yellow, that’s just me. Your background displays are amazing!
I thought I would be disappointed in this figure but when it came today I fell in love. The tension would have bugged me vs hardware but it tensions better than most of Takara ratchets. It feels heavy and sturdy. Materials,sculpt,paint blow any other drag strip offering out the water. Wild rider was my favorite from this set but surprise surprise this figure I might like a tad more. It’s just so striking and elegant.
Sweet. I am looking forward to seeing the last figure and the parts to complete this set finally! I am looking forward to getting this guy from Nick the Toy Guy and adding him to my collection. Thanks again for a great video!
I watched your video for my first time going through this transformation and I agree, this is easily one of their best releases to-date, as far as transformation goes, and it's near perfect in that regard. I actually had everything completed tabbed into place for both the top and bottom half, going into the final twist, and combination of the two halves and it worked perfectly. Every single tab, every single piece worked perfectly and without issue. A++ Transformation!... Aside from it lacking just a bit of paint and a bit of articulation, this figure is near perfect. This is a strong A rating, and a very close A+ release from Fans Toys.

I'm not usually excited about FansToys myself, but their Stunticons are ALWAYS exciting. Dragstrip here absolutely looks fantastic. The alternate face is a nice touch and I appreciate FansToys going in that direction. I want to see more of that from them (just not at a crazy-extra cost, like XTB recently). I'm really looking forward to seeing how Dead End and Menasor turn out, but I definitely can't wait to get my hands on Dragstrip. Sure, he's not perfect, but I think he might be the best of the three Dragstrips. I usually prefer more going on, but I like the rather subtle differences in the shades of yellow as opposed to the very stark contrast between yellows in the XTB version.
Great review as always Bobby! Glad to see you are still buying figures from Nick. Because of your recommendation I have bought 4 Fans Toys figures from him. Great guy, with amazing customer service and speedy shipping. Glad I've bought from him, and will definitely continue to do so in the future.
For these guys, I'm fully ok with the articulation not being better than "2020 average" since they're also combiner parts. That they still combine and look so damn good is a miracle.

Good vid man. Got mine from Agabyss, gonna check it out soon. The front end of the vehicle mode could have been done better in bot mode. It looks like he has weird back love handles. It must not be too off putting in person. Hope not.
Its fine to have preferences for a certain 3rd party company than others, But if you see a comparison between this video and the one made for DX9...definitely you´ld notice that the criticism is way natable for DX9 both having almost the same characteristics
I can tell right away from the beginning of the video you were going to be super positive about Smokey ( not sure if that's because it's fanstoys or not) but you did sound very giddy from the get-go LOL. But anyway I did heard you mention that x-transbots is under sized for masterpiece figures? Yet X transbots stunticons scale to all of the Masterpiece figures that have a vehicle mode for the most part.... Dx9 and fans toys are oversized to every other Masterpiece figure...... I'm not sure where that was discussed but I definitely like to hear more...
It's clean, well sculpted, well painted but not so well articulated, the engineering regarding the transformation is good. Again Fans Toys fails to justify the price raise, you need to up your game Fans Toys or you're going to fall behind and your 3rd party reign will end abruptly. Thanks for the review Mr. Skullface.
My gosh thats a big yellow fellow. Couldnt even paint a stripe along the side of the alt mode? Or the “feet?” Love this character but that’s too much yellow for my taste.
Way too plain looking for my taste, that brick of yellow needs something to spice it up. The back of the legs look so much better than the front and the knee joint color seems to match. How did Bobby not mention that huge gap at the front in car mode? Fans Toys definitely gets the pre-school gloves from Bobby
I do enjoy the reviews....... but always get a kick out of how BS passes/glosses (goes lightly) on quality issues with FANSTOYS. 7:07 a little flippity floppity fluppity...... NO BIGGIE just a minor *sigh*........ but...... but ........ if it had been Xtransbots or DX9 or some other company....... OH! MY GOD! Cheap! Broken out of the box. Garbage. & a list of other problems harping about it...... but........ because it's FansToys..... it gets a minor shoulder shrug/*sigh* not much to see here, move along. 15:41 "It's PRETTY IMPRESSIVE"...... yet..... on the Overheat Vid 3:26 "It's a little BIG" & No mention of "Rollin like a CHAMP", yet drools over Smokeys "It's AMAZING! It ROLLS like a CHAMP!", shall we talk about how BS glossed over the Paint (yes its great but non matching yellows) on Smokey, but goes off on Overheats toon accurate. Yes, I realize he isnt a fan of it, yet he wants toon accurate. Go Figure? Am I riiiight??? If Smokeys Engine Block (popping up several times 14:20) had been any other company, we would have gotten a 10-20 sec mini documentary on it, but it's FansToys........ Am I riiiiiight??? For the record, I own all 3, and enjoy each of them, as they all have positives and negatives. That's why I LOVE 3rdP. Each tackles the engineering, paint and Aesthetics differently. Bobby, I like your vids guy, but your BIAS is way wAy WAY 2 Obvious to be a FAIR CRITIQUE of a Piece. It's like car guys, yeah it's a X but it's still an X & it aint no Y! Am I riiiight??? None the less, I enjoy the vids You do you, you WIN! ;)
07:28 - XTB's are "scaled properly" for Takara's carbot scale, which is a bit smaller than it should have been but is what it is, and sets the standard for Masterpiece. Just to get the record straight there. You may like FT's Stunticon size more but it's objectively larger than Takara's established masterpiece scale. It is closer to what Takara's probably should have been, but oh well. Maybe one day, God willin' and Takara don't sue, FT will deliver all the Autobot carbots as well and it will all work out.
The Stunticons were always larger this is the right scale. The x-transbots scale is wrong. Yes they scale with takara cars but they are supposed 2 be bigger
@@asaphmartinez4225 The stunticons were always smaller in G1 toy form, just like they were oversized in cartoon form. The balance is in the middle. The proper thing to do for Masterpiece scale is to scale them according to Takara's scale for carbots. Don't be r-worded.
As many have said, they were intended to be larger than the autobot cars for season 1. I didn’t believe it at first either but I was wrong. Lol. Ironically, I’m right now :)
I haven't seen this in person yet, but on screen this figure looks a little plain, not in like a toon accurate way, but in an "unfinished but just rolled off a 3D printer" kinda way. Especially compared to the fit and finish of the other three. And also compared to the other three (and the other Dragstrips we've seen by XTB and DX9), the alt mode just looks bad and cheap and like a kid's bathtub toy. I may have a wildly different opinion in hand but it doesn't really present well (to me) in videos.

It's one of the first Fanstoys I've transformed in a long time and it was refreshingly simple and fun. More like this please :)

There are tabs that fold out to fill in the holes in the knees when in the up position in robot mode. Just so you know :)

@@lunarlad8075 Never judge scale based on the cartoon. It is far too inconsistent to be a true point of reference for scale.
