15 YEAR OLD ALEX LANIER vs BRICE LEVERDEZ NEW VIDEO 🔥 >>> ua-cam.com/video/dKyiC3LZ63I/v-deo.html&ab_channel=POGBadminton
French guy seems to be an excellent player, and only 17. I wish him luck and success.
I think you may be right. Came here after lanier just won the japan open defeating chou tien chan. Definately can become a world champion.
Good accuracy on his attacks and consistent basic skills in all of his shots. He's only 17 so he's only going to grow stronger when he reaches him prime each year! Excited to see new faces on the world stage!!!! 🤩
@CallmeNiks are youy considering his age? or this just how competitive badminton is internationally
@CallmeNiks I disagree, he's a lot better than that.
@CallmeNiks With his skill? Even if he only improves in stamina and not in skill at all, that player is around top 20 in the world. That is an insane floor for a 17 year old. (Also his skill is clearly improving and he has already started causing some huge upsets)
If badminton was broadcast by espn instead of Gillian Clark
Hahahaha
Yeah it's hilarious the commentators have no clue what they are talking about.
Exactly, so dramatic 😂
"Thanks for the production crew for all the angles" lmao
LOL 😂
Bro his precision of shots is too good man like he is so confident about each shot hats off I hope he will better than this that would be just ungodly insane
all the best young fellow
France is becoming the first european nation to have world class athletes in tennis, badminton and table tennis . Lebrun brothers in table tennis are great and there is a group of badminton players coming up
By the way, Obayashi beat Naraoka to win the Inter-High final in Japan in 2017!
He tore his Achilles tendon and was unable to compete in the tournament for days on end
That's one of the reasons why his ranking is not very high now
We know that he is one of the leading players in Japan
Great to see Obayashi-san recover from achilles tendon surgery. Not easy to do
Always good to see such a talent young player... this kind of player must be need to competting players from Asia... I see the soul of Taufik Hidayat and Peter gade on him.... Much Fun...
I was in the place at the 2023 France Championship: he lost the semi final, but took the second set to Popov (who knows Popov clearly understands what it means😬😏); so yes, Lanier is a client for the next decade.
And Lanier was very sick just before and still during the championship
@@tomab8312 I didn’t know that😐😬
There are many Sen and Vitidsarn for every Popov but I am personally very impressed by Popov so it'd be interesting to see where this goes
Loved the commentary, that was an entertaining watch !
He has raw talent. probably will appear on the bigger stage 2-3 years from now
:)
I remember I used to be 17 once but never got the opportunity.
Watching these youngsters play only gives me pleasure ;)
Getting to the top is not only about your own talent and hardwork, but the 'cables' to bring you there
@@sendoh7x very well said 👌
Looks very promising.. Agree he can potentially be top 10 in the next few years
Awesome.
Great defense, clever play and good stamina.
I think if he is consistent, he will be able to get a new record for the youngest world number 1 player when Taufik Hidayat is 19 years old.
Absolutly amazing 👍
He is already 18 right now. With Axelsen on top now, it's high unlikely he would be able to set that new record in time.
@@reinartes7079 I think Viktor is in stable performance and can still be beat, it's just that the other men's singles players are in unstable performance like Viktor.
In Taufik's time I think it was more difficult because all the men's singles players were in stable and good performance.
If Alex plays stably like that, I'm sure Viktor will have a worthy opponent and maybe he will be able to beat him and take Taufik's record.
hard for new player to rise right now coz tons of player pop up like mushroom.. to be the top he must pass a lot of senior.. and the king.. viktor
Nope, that's gone
Today he won the world’s No.1!
he might be able to become a champion in the future if he maintains two things, being consistent and not getting injured. good luck..
Too soon to say, still a long way to go.
We should know how lucky we are to have Gill Clarke and Steen as commentators. These guys comments are awful. Cliches, inane, awful. Good match though.
Indeed we are lucky to have Gillian and Steen on the comments most of the time. For sure these guys know obviously nothing about badminton, but personally i liked it 😆 their enthusiasm is kinda refreshing, and it's SO NORTH AMERICAN !!
The Boom! And Yes Sir!! Lmaoo
Clarke is so boring... she used to play with wooden rackets hundred years ago... we need fresh air
@@Badmintonforall wait what. Wood rackets for real?
nah, I actually liked their commentary. It brings hype and excitement and made the match fun to watch.
this guy has style! his posture looks better than western players in general.
I was at the Canada open when he won Takuma Obayashi as a volunteer you might even be able to see me lol but it was an amazing match I thought Takuma Obayashi would win at first but Alex really exceeded my expectations
French player is very talented, great footwork, deception, full package
Here after beating CTC, shi yu qi, and lzj
Hard to tell. There will always be an Asian who is better than any westerner. But not Axelsen. He’s on fire
Axelsen was defeated by the protege rising star Vitidsarn from Thailand in India Open this year 2023. Vitidsarn had much less experience and much shorter than Axelsen, yet he still conquered Axelsen! The 3rd deciding set had a big point gap!
This commentary is the best thing ever😃✌️
I forget but it was at a team event last year, he played well. I think he beat gemke or took him to 3 rounds, i forget. I just remember being shocked at his age.
Yeah, he lost 20-22 in the third game. Very tough guy at this youg age.
"Alex Lanier gave himself, France, and Europe a surprise victory at the DAIHATSU Japan Open 2024. He became the first Frenchman to win a Super 750 tournament on the Badminton World Tour, accomplishing this feat at 19 years of age"
Here after he beat Shi Yu Qi in the semifinals of Japan Open 2024.
man the commentators are obnoxious.
𝕋𝕙𝕖𝕪 𝕒𝕣𝕖 𝕕𝕠𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕚𝕣 𝕛𝕠𝕓😮
He is very strong physically and technically for a 17 year old!
Stronger than a 17 yr old Axelson.
I don’t know but his play style and footwork reminds me of asian player, quick footwork and explosive power. Waiting to see his career next few years 👍🏻
As a European I agree with you. Asian badmintonplayers have a better style. Not saying they are always better, hence Victor Axelsen, but European players have a more clumsy movement like their limbs are in the way.
Big Fans for Alex ....
Love you from India ....
The Legend Leechongwei and Peter Gade is reborn in badminton history...
May God bless you and Come up with a lot of success ahead ...
win all the titles in the future ..
You are the light of the world ..
........ ........
Confident and consistent good selection of shorts amazing player at this age
He could totally be the next world champion no doubt, that aggressive backhand and smash power will be his weapon once he refines it.
Best of luck to Alex Lanier...would like to see him compete in the higher tier tourneys. 👍
They both have excellent backhands. Will take them far
If Gillian Clark was commentator for all sports,
The sporting world would be legendary 💀
The fact that the Japanese guy is ranked some 40 places below Lanier…. Perhaps shows up more about the Japanese players performance
If hes no 1 u19 then he will be in top 100 guaranteed. Will be a tough future for him with already players like kunlavut and lakysha and li shi feng. We will see if he can get out of their shadow
he is 56 now
Alex has a bright future. Not too sure about the future of these commentators though if they can only see the capabilities of the player of their skin color. :x
bro has potential.
He's great but in my opinion, I think he needs to work on the stroke, landing & recovery on his forehand in the back court. With that kind of landing and body rotation , his recovery is too slow. Good example was LCW vs LD; LD picked on LCW forehand slow recovery and eventually outpaced him during the games by attack clears physically and making it into a mental game afterwards.
Comparison makes no sense. You comparing a 17yo to a very matured version of lcw and ld
Came across well at the end there too. Kudos!
i like these commentators. they are not like the old boring geezers we usually listen to on BWF
Yea.. the tone and ther delivery is nice but man they need to be more experienced with the sport. Gill, Morten and Steen are very experienced and are former players themselves so they definitely know what they're talking about... these guys?? Not so much
These commentators would go crazy once they commentate LZJ's matches😂
He looks to be promising player for the future. But being 17 and being 23 is not the same thing. I would really like him to do great against world class players as an adult.
another super talent in the making
Steve Smith on the commentary is incredible!
AGED WELL
Love the active commentry
nice commentary, i really like that
who are they btw?
You're basing it on one game vs one opponent? Sure, he is skilled, but how consistent can he be?
His elbow and forearms got this habit of "foreshadowing" movement before his shots. If he can change that, his shots would be more acute and more subtle intentions. His footwork is GREAT and efficient, comparing his to most western players. But c`mon, he`s still 17/18, he`ll get to top 20 if everything`s right (I mean objective factors + his own effort)
Getting into top 20 for a European is tough... Maybe Denmark can but... China Indonesia produces atleast 3 players for top rank....Malaysia Japan India and Chinese Taipei produces atleast 2 players for the top rank.... So getting in that zone France Badminton Association has to make investment on this guy... Otherwise he will be left nowhere
Interesting observation, you must be a keen player of this game, perhaps a coach? How does one detect this "foreshadowing"? Just curious to learn...
@@anandksrao hahah I sure WAS, I represented Brazil in international games 5 years ago, I was 16-17 years old. By the "foreshadowing," this is what I meant:
Theoretically: without breaking down the swing movement of hitting the shuttle (whether clear, drop, smash), the movement contains 2 movements: structure the racket up, swing. As you can see, before the swing, the French player has an additional movement of his elbow/forearm.
Physically: the timing/rhythm of the French player is very monotone, the "foreshadowing" tells everything about when he's gonna hit the shuttle.
World-class, text-book like examples for me is Lin Dan when he dominated Men's Single with his "Tai-Chi" style, controlling and explosively aggressive. However, LCW was my favourite men's single player.
Nonton ini stlh Alex juara Jepang Open, benar2 bagus mainnya.
those backhands resembled taufik's style.. seems we have a fanboy here 🎉🎉
Judging by this match, I would doubt it, but he has a couple of years to develop further. His general movement and footwork is rather awkward, off balance and certainly not efficient. A bit like Sen IMO. I suspect he can tire quickly, then he loses speed and accuracy/consistency goes. The quick players today suffer the same way (Ginting, Sen, Lew...). Efficient movement, balance and accuracy are critical along with good deception and of course a solid defence. He has potential but has work to do. Obayashi has better footwork overall, but needs to be quicker (he is slow to follow up his attack and misses some opportunities)
Yes, his play style reminds me of Sen too
Is Alex Lanier a FUTURE BADMINTON WORLD CHAMPION?
YES, if he continues to be consistent with his form and without injury.
Damn... This kid is good !
the commentators have never seen badminton in their lives
What most don't understand: It takes an awful lot of hard work to become the best in the World at anything. Kid needs 10s of thousands of hours in the gym. Needs to stay away from bad injuries. And he needs the mentality to devote himself, and keep devoting, year in, year out. Then maybe...
Sure Alex will grow to be the best if he can maintain his performance consistently or that Japanese guy will take the spot to be the best. Just look at Takuma's movement and footwork. Reminds me of young Kento Momota.
Takuma isnt even top 5 in japan ms. He is good but he plays like every other Japanese ms
Looks promising! His defends could be better. Attacking strats and mentality is impressive for a 17 yo lad.
May be.. The problem is to keep the consistency..
He got very good wrist
have to see first , if he stays consistent then yes
This video contains all the evidence you need why Americans should not commentate on badminton
The kids a beast
Im no pro, but it feels like the top20 do shots that are more surgical and energy conserving. Defense would also look different playing one from that club.
A western player who uses Li Mao step. He'll be top 10 in the future
The exemination is that if on 19 yo, He can beat in under 10 rank, and win the tournament!😎😊💪👍🙏
Still early. From 5 years ago people keep talking the same thing about new young player that show amazing talent & got the future to be world champion. And now Alex Lanier? Its too early.
HOLY! WHAT A MATCH!
Amazing ! he is so strong
A French player playing this well? How exciting...
DAMN that's super strength.
i found these commentators to be entertaining btw
At last good commentary. No sleepy boring stuff. Thank you
New gen for France.
tf 11:07 it's out right?! it's really far. even it was touch the ground first, it doesn't touch the line
BEST commentator ever-----especially the guy who say------boom,,
very entertaining commentator,,
He's not French but Chinese. Look at his eyes !
Very promising, good kid, but he got put out in the world juniors late last year. Has a few excellent Asian kids to overcome - we shall see.
Takuma Obayashi is only ranked 105 himself.
Insane
I can see that, it's just a biased, favouring commentry
People from the US should be banned from badmintoncommentary ”BOOM. That’s what I’m talking about, man”😂😂
wait a second, that japanese boy reminds me Momota a little bit when he shots
we need these sport commentators for all the games
Still a long way to go vs top player
One sided "commentary" if it can be called that. Not wanting to sound discouraging to him, but the French player needs to be better technically (his choice of shot is hit or miss) and in terms of stamina he must be better. Getting into the world top ten is hard. It starts with successfully playing in and winning some of the Asian tournaments.
I hope he improves and wish him good luck. As for the commentators, I suspect they are too far gone.
even his opponent was good
8-16 🤩🤩
The next axelsen
he is good but he will not a world champion. As a reference, Taufik made into All England final at the age of 17, Lindan became world no 1 at 19.
IM the future badminton champion.
he is good
This broadcast seems weird but so american at the same time, its good.. I don't know should i like it or hate it.. 😭
compared to Kunlavut Vitidsarn at his age, Lanièr is far behind.
the future Chong Wei
