Can you imagine how much we would all enjoy pro events if BWF were smart enough to ONLY use courtside cameras like this? But no, they stick the cameras as far away as they can, way up in the air, and it looks very slow. No wonder the sport stagnates. BWF, amateurs running a pro sport. (Now, back to this fine video).
They do it so the entire court is visible, this angle looks a lot better but its hard to see the back lines + the overhead view gives a better view of where the birdie is.
Young lad is very good. I have no idea how he would compare to other nation's 15 year olds? Anyone know? Only criticism is he lifts too much, no net battles.
Lanier had incredible physcial capabilities at only 15, great foot work for his age (there's still a lot of wasted movement, Leverdez in comparison looks a lot more controlled). Phenomenal retrieval skills and great power too, but he needs to be a bit more polish. Happy he won the Japan Open, future looking good for my guy.
French badminton players always seem to fall short in terms of skill, with flaws in every footwork, such as landing too heavily, lacking stability, and sometimes having too much spacing between movements. It feels as if they are paying the price with their young. Also they are easy to be injured , They should learn more about the skills of Asian players and adopt the steadiness footwork of someone like Viktor Axelsen.
@@TanishChoksi have a look at guylaine pichard badminton channel, it is one of his popular videos from 6 years ago. 32k views. But it would be on lots of other channels too, just hard to search for. I should put it on my badminton chan
I'm not jealous at all but reaching a level like that at his age is already starting from a young age. I've been doing it since I was 14, now I'm 18, you just need a lot of cardio and I'm reaching his level a little, you just need a lot of training
now champ of japan open 2024. kudos lanier.
Holy cow Alex was already amazing back then. Honestly when he won the Japan Open 2024 he did not look or play like a teenager. Go Alex!!!

I know, it's a pain for all us badminton fans. However, I think they do it so all the sponsors are visible.
ha ha ha we all feel the same way... yeah that would be so much more enjoyable.
same issue in tennis, table tennis etc etc

I predict this young man will rise to the very top, soon. Foundation has all been laid. Barring injury/sickness, will be world number one.
your predicktion way too late 😆
Haha I love the really aggressive rally right after the ankle break, we've all been there.

Alex is now 18 and is the best in Europe (he was also the best in Europe for u16 in this video)
@@pleaseenteraname9414best in Europe for 18 years old right, cuz viktor can destroy this Lanier guy
just won his first title at Japan Open, and it's a super 750. This young man is something seriously special
@@shadyvoid6731 lanier just won against axelsen today in denmark

Wow! This guy looks like he'd win the 2024 Japan Open, beating Lee Zii Jia, Nishimoto, Shi Yuqi, and Chou Tien Chen

It is not sparring, it was a match organized in order to select who will play at the Thomas Cup
No-one watching, other courts empty, just seems like these 2. Doubtful
OMG amazing and beautiful, feels like Kento Momota
very nice
ca serait pu la même maintenant contre Brice Leverdez ;) la relève est prete
Why does their shots sound like bullets
15 years old??? HOW BRO
is he really 15 in this vid?
cause i doubt that
Have you seen him with the Legends Alexsen/Hidayat etc? I think he was about 11 then.
@@ThoughtfulAl i cant find the video

I'm guessing he was 17 about to be 18, because they introduced him as 19 when he faced SYQ in Japan open. Still, crazy talent.
I agree, and if the video is indeed from 2020, then he was 17
i am sure playing against a guy who bave beaten lee chong wei more than once have given Lanier much confidence to face other opponents.
But Leverdez is very old now, even in this video he was pretty old. It's impressive he is still playing at this level in the video.
remember that BRICE LEVERDEZ 🔥has beaten lee chong wei once before
twice
I thought he is lzj
i bet brice leverdez isn't this good at 15 year old
Finished watching 11:22
Alex sera un grand champion, je suis sûr que Brice dit la même
He just won Japan Open 750 only at 19 years old.
