      Nick Bloodoff I couldn’t agree more. Block sanding combined with orbital sanding (no more than 5mm stroke) is all I’ve ever used. Work back to 3000-5000 grit and it shouldn’t need much more than a polish to finish out.

      *Luxury cars do not hold their value.* Luxury buyers want the latest and greatest tech and gadgets. This is the reason their value plummets and 85% of luxury cars you see on the road are leased -- specially German brands. This is also why you can by a 7 year old $100K S Class for 20-25% of it's value while a same year same mileage Honda Accord only dropped 50% of it's value while retaining it. As years go by from there, the Honda will hit residual value while the luxury cars continues to drop. Fact.

    Now that's what I call lateral and longitudinal thinking. Masking off all the swedge lines, for example, to prevent sanding through the edges is a very simple but highly effective method.
    The design and quality of the DAs and machine polishers enable the kind of precision aimed at and achieved in this tutorial. Having the right tools and equipment combined with a fine eye for detail and plenty of patience are key elements in achieving a flawless finish.
    I wonder whether the secret stage involves baking the car at a certain temperature after a certain (ceramic?) coating has been applied and removed to create a protective barrier and lasting finish.

Back when I first started in racing I was in control of 2 prototype AudiR8s before the road car came out, easily 2 million dollars trusted in my hands to grind on and repair carbon fiber then paint. Just felt so good and scary knowing that people entrust you with the responsibility then believing enough in myself to not completely screw it up trying to pretend like it was nothing more than a practice hood from the junkyard and best yet is when you pull it off and the owner (rest in peace you’re one of the greatest men I ever had the honor to know ) comes in and says great job with a smile, looking back it’s still humbling. I scored that job right out of tech school which is why I was so scared and doubted my abilities but pushed on. Anyway killer job brother looks amazing, so much depth to the color and clean, absolutely beautiful!!!

      PPF if using Xpel ultimate works out at about £100.00 a metre .!
      Give the car full paint correction then use Gtechniq crystal serum .. ceramic coating .

    Guys i suggest you to sand the car in lines (parallel to the car from the front to the rear just like the wind hits the car), it will prevent a lot of sandmarks and it will give like a clean methodic pattern. This will encrease the mirror look a lot more, will prevent some whirls in the clear coat and if the paint or the ppf film get chipped or scratched the mark will be a lot less visible cause of the under pattern going the same direction of it. What are your thoughts on that? 🤔 Except that, just 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 you guys are on another level 🔝

    • @Obsessioncardetailing
      @Obsessioncardetailing 5 років тому +4

      Fede Master that wouldn’t make a difference, the sanding marks are removed via polishing so the direction is not relevant. Plus Going in straight lines would require hand sanding and machine sanding is generally safer and more efficient.

    • @fedemaster3749
      @fedemaster3749 5 років тому

      @@Obsessioncardetailing the sanding marks are removed by increasing the grain step by step the polish is used at the end for removing finer marks. Anyway using a power tool as you said is better for getting a more uniform result, but i assure you whirl marks will appear a lot before than the method i explained if you don't put ceramic coating every 4 month or PPF

    • @Obsessioncardetailing
      @Obsessioncardetailing 5 років тому

      Fede Master yeah I know how sanding marks are removed. But can you explain how sanding in straight lines will prevent swirl marks

    • @fedemaster3749
      @fedemaster3749 5 років тому

      @@Obsessioncardetailing cause if the "scratches" caused by the sanding are all going in the same way it will create a uniform pattern, if you sand in circles you'll create circular "scratches" wich are more due to show whirls in reflections. Obviously if you polish 2 or 3 times the body it won't show up that obvious but if you use 1 low grain polish you can see a slight diffference 🙂 and again if you get a rockchip or some heavy dirt causing light scratches the orizontal pattern underneat is more lean to hide it 😊

    • @Obsessioncardetailing
      @Obsessioncardetailing 5 років тому +5

      @@fedemaster3749 If you sand using a random orbital machine, the scratch pattern created is random and uniform. Even if you sand in circles, or straight lines, if you do it properly and step down the grades (1500, 2000, 3000, 5000 grit, or as needed), then all the scratches will be gone - compounding and polishing will remove any fine marks left over leaving a perfectly level finish with no scratches or sanding marks.
      So basically if you do the job properly, going in straight lines wont actually benefit.
