I saw them at the Forum in Los Angeles in December, 1969. The Stones came on at 4:00 a.m. following Ike and Tina Turner and B. B. King. They were to do two shows of 45 minutes each. There was an ice hockey game and they couldn't clear the ice in time. The first show started at 11:00 p.m. We waited outside. People were passing joints around until we got in at 2:00 a.m. Ike and Tina started with "Come Together". When they Stones came on Mick said that because we waited so long that instead of a 45 minute show they were going to do a two hour show. They then went into a half hour version of "Satisfaction" with Keith and Mick Taylor tearing up the place. What a show..
I was at this show!!! They were amazing that night. If there was such a thing as a perfect rock and roll concert this may have been it. Maybe the best show of the entire tour. This show was better than Ya Yas. This should have been the live album. I remember this video. Saw it on channel 56.
I watched the very first airing of this videotape in January 1970 on public television station WTVS Channel 56 in Detroit (PBS). The show "Detroit Tubeworks" was produced by the legendary FM underground radio station WABX.... one of the greatest underground radio stations in the Nation. The TV show was hosted by WABX "Air Ace" Dave Dixon. Thanks for posting this over 50 years later!
Very cool, thanks! Can you confirm if the host at the end of the video is Dave? I didn't have much luck finding solid info on who was working at WABX back then, and thought the the host looked like Dan Carlisle based on a few pictures.
Ben, yes....it very well could have been Dan Carlisle. Dave Dixon hosted the majority of Tubeworks broadcasts, so I assumed it was Dixon. What a magic time of free-form radio.
Charlie and bill always in sync, just wish whoever produced mixed the stones albums would have put bill up front more, most people dont realize how vital he was to their sound.
Mick Taylor. Lord! The tape is so raw it is like you are there weirdly compared to films you see. Especially form the Mick Taylor perspective and a long shot of Jagger, not the ultra-closeups that usually goes along with Stones videos. You could tell the whole crowd was into it also. Great feeling when the whole place is rocking. Man I wish I was there during that time.
You are quite welcome, it's an honour to have you post on here, haha. If you ever wanted to get your Sydney footage synced up with audio I'd be happy to do so!
@@bendyment4164 Hey Ben, thanks. I'm good to discuss the Sydney footage - there are some issues, so best to contact me via the website www.deniztek.com and go from there. Cheers!~
such a great era for live bands and the audience since the stages were smaller and the crowd was right up close...i love seeing Charlie upfront behind Mick on a riser...R.I.P.
Thanks Ben. I checked the database. The 41 minutes they have are 9 songs. Satisfaction, Carol, Honky Tonk Women, Jumping Jack Flash, Little Queenie, Love In Vain, Prodigal Son, Stray Cat Blues and Sympathy For The Devil.
Mi rammento i miei 15 anni . Un' altro mondo, artisti veri, da brividi, immortali!!!... ancora adesso quando li ascolto torno a quegli anni meravigliosi. GRAZIE DI CUORE PER EMOZIONARMI SEMPRE.
I was there in 1969 in Detroit and looking forward to seeing in Cleveland on June 15th. 1969 was a very different time and I'm glad Mick, Keith and I are still kicking.
Man oh man what vintage rare stones ..where u find this man oh man there playing so raw rock tight tight tunes there killing it sure miss Taylor..keep them coming...rip Mr Jones
You're quite welcome - I believe you're thinking of the brief clips from the LA show rather than Detroit though. I've done some edits with the LA footage and will be posting that soon as well.
That version of Little Queenie completely rocks! IMO its better than the Ya-Yas version (and Keiths solo). The crowd really got into it...wow ....and like the other posts said, M. Taylor on Stray Cat Blues was off the charts.
mick taylor's soloing and interplay with keith on stray cat is among my favorite stones music. the mix is better on ya yas album with this guitar work cleaner, and maybe even touched up a bit after the fact, or so the story goes. so great to hear another live performance of it from '69
@@bendyment4164 Yes, but caught Hendrix with Catfish in 1970 @ Baltimore. What a great few years: 68 69 70 71 72 73. Anyone that threatened to ruling party was killed by 73. We almost had it.
My regret too. 72 would have been tough to finagle as I was only 15, but 75 or 79 would have worked. In a sense I am am glad I didn't go to 75 because of the drugs and the show was too bloated at that time. Mick's voice was awful imo during that tour too.
You can see & feel how jealous Keith is listening to MTs lead on stray cat blues...if he just put his pride aside...what could have been...what could have been!!! Just enjoy what was, right!!!
Thanks for sharing! If you have a second, we tried our hand at some original blues tunes. As fellow music fans, we'd love if you'd take a listen. It's on our page. Don't be too tough on us :)

By the end of the '69 tour they were the greatest R&R band in the world.
They were that way before 1969 ..

YESSS!!!
Best R & B ever! We salute The Rolling Stones!

Very cool, thanks for sharing! Detroit and Baltimore are among my top five favourites from this tour for sure.
I have the Baltimore show on CD. That was a great show. It's a bootleg of course.

Wowwww. The sound, the performance, the 69 tour....What a treat!!!!!. We want more, we want more. Fabulous!. Thanks a lot, It's a great document.

I love watching the Stones Virginia gig from the vault 1981. In 5.1 Bill’s bass come through via the subwoofer loud and clear. He is great.
@@finch45lear absostoneslutely agree, love thr hampton roads show! Just my imagination is fantastic
Ian Stewart was buried for Lil' Queenie, too.
Yea love ian boogie woogie playing,6:20@charlieculp3956
Bill, Charlie and Keef the greatest rock n roll rhythm section ever.
I prefer the 1969 tour over the more popular 1972 tour. They were a lot better IMO.
I saw them at MSG later that month!!! Fantastic concert! Thanks!!

Is it on video somewhere? UA-cam is the best to find rare footage I thought I'd never see in my lifetime.
So nice to see a clip that gives the real atmosphere of the show. By the looks of it, the band was on and the crowd was getting down.
It is nice to have some footage from within the crowd for sure
Fantastic Concert THANK you so much For SHARING super Show 💯% 👉💥♥️💥♥️💥♥️

Fantastic! Ty for posting.
Spitting those lyrics out! 🤘
Realy love this song but adult with a thirteen years old is a capital crime.
So cool, tape appears to be several generations, I bet they got the whole show too... Songs slower than what we're used to, makes it more dramatic...
THE GREAT MICK TAYLOR ❤BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE STONES 🎉
Why did he left???

Quite the rarity, thank you so much!

Excelente trabajo!❤
As the Beatles imploded on many levels, the Stones changed gears and put the foot down
Both bands had the Same Manager
And one of them went to work
Fantastic very rare video .... BIG THANKS ....

Uuuuuuu uauuu yeaaaa5 the rolling Stones fortissimi🔝📛📛👅👅👅🎙👅🎸🎹🎙
$8.00 tickets and no Hell's Angels as security. What a bargain.
that speedy gonzales reference
I love Stray Cat Blues and the 1969 tour performance of it. Swagger and decadence on full display.
My fav Mick Taylor guitar
It's no capital crime
Can you imagine if MT was in on the recording sessions of Beggars Banquet & all of Let it Bleed? I got a lump in my throat & a bulge in my pants!
Getting tighter and tighter. What was next Baltimore? Yes, I was alive then lived in DC and did not go. Huh? My only high school regret.
Philadelphia on the 25th, then Baltimore on the 26th - my favourite show of the tour performance-wise. That's a big regret!
