The first part of this video is on N. Cherry Street SOUTH of Division Street in Chicago. The crew is switching Big Bay Lumber. Cherry and North Branch were rebuilt in 1991. Prior to 1991 this section of Cherry and North Branch were dirt paved. The second half of the video shows the train on N. Cherry Street NORTH of Division Street when N. Cherry Street was still paved in dirt. North Cherry Street was rebuilt in 2001 and the tracks were set in concrete.
I wondered what happened to it. Since CP Rail bought out the Soo I thought 383 went to them. These old geeps were the mainstay in diesel freight power. Where I live, there is a local railroad that runs GP9s, 7s, a 16, and an SW1200RS. They recently purchased an ex-NS GP38. They are slowly moving to bigger power for longer trains, as business is booming.
Can you tell me the exact location of the 2nd half of this video (facing Southeast)? I don't recognize the unfinished roadway as Kingsbury.. I'd appreciate it!
interesting points ,if anyone else needs to find out about try Tarbetti Rail Work Tutor (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my co-worker got cool success with it.
jealouse folks what ever video be about the big apple chicago comes along and trys to do the same thing, los angeles which is not stupid should be advertising videos of it self its much more famous and mature than chicago is. chicago truely shows off its jeslousy
Yeah LA should make a video of all the homeless shitting on the streets and throwing their used hypodermic needles on the sidewalk. San Francisco's shythole sister.
The coolest thing in the world is watching some train switching action riding through the dirt......awesome vid!
This may sound funny but, this is my favorite video beyond any other.

Another excellent video, thanks again for sharing this rare footage!
Coming from a person who was born in 08 who lives on north side Chicago, I wish I could've seen freight, but sadly, all that's left is the track.
Cool old school vid. At the 1:18 mark, that switch will be useless come winter unless they blow that water out.
reminds me of working nights on the house 8 job (bnsf) in the early 00s.
Love this video!
