- Rough Country 4 inch lift for Jeep Wrangler TJ. This video outlines what to look for in a lift. Why I chose Rough Country and how Rough Country lifts are upgradable as you grow in Off-roading!!
Just a great video. Thanks for sharing. My 03 Jeep TJ Rubicon I've owned for 21-years now is outfitted with many Rough Country items--4-inch lift like yours, new RC track bars, RC fender flares. I agree with you that RC gets a bad rap. While they were initially a value-based manufacturer with possibly lower quality products they have upped their ante over the last decade. I believe they can now complete with companies such as teraflex, Rubicon Express, metal cloak...,etc, without breaking the bank. Love RC!
Completely agree, that’s my goal with this channel. They have so many upgrades and updated products that are overlooked in this high price market. For some reason the customer base thinks you have to spend a small fortune to get a good product but RC is the exception. Good, solid reliable products at an affordable price. Thank you for your comment.
I like it..!! Looking good..!!
Easy inexpensive lift..
I installed Rough Country 3.5
Lift.. shocks spring s, end links,
And Adjustable track bar..on my JT…!!! And love it.. I forget it’s
Lifted..!! The fact that I was able to keep alot of stock parts to get
The lift.. 💰💵…!!! Saved ..!!!
Thank you for your comments!! I love my Jeep and completely agree…and I’ll add that it’s completely upgradable if in the future your needs or desires change for the terrain you’d like to hit. Thank you again.
Do you know when RC is going to make the Vertex shocks for for the TJ .
Not yet. I’ll be talking to them this week and let you know.
HI, my TJ upgrades are pretty close to yours. I am in the middle of the RC 4.0 lift and SYE install. I have the 4.0 with an automatic and 33" tires but still have the with 3.07s. I have to re-gear and am looking for data comparing 3.73s and 4.10s. How are your RPM's with the 3.73 gears on the freeway at 60 MPH? AND Is your power in 1st and 2nd gear a little weak at all? Off road use will be similar to how you described in this video. No rock crawling...
Thank you for the questions…I know I’ve looked but honestly can’t recall. I’ll check next drive and let you know but as for power, I honestly have not noticed a difference in first n second…pulls super strong. Thank you for asking and make sure you look for my response soon….
I wanted this lift to put some 33’s on that I have. It currently sits on a 2 inch lift from Old Man Emu and 31’s. I use mine as a DD and off-road mine the same as you, just dirt roads to hunt and camp.
Any vibrations or anything weird? Did you do a SYE?
Don’t have sye yet…no vibration anytime anywhere.
I have a 04 Columbia edition got it with 32k org miles I'm finally getting it lifted was gonna go with the rough country x series but the guy that is doing it is a jeep only shop and he talked me in2 a rock krawler lift was an extra grand wanted a 4" but he recommended the 3.5 coming with bilstein 5100's new rear drive shaft and slip yoke package the lift comes with everything like the x series rough country but my total bill was 6600.00 3k more than I wanted to or can spend put a good majority of it on my credit card all I can say is it better be worth it I don't 4 wheel with it just want a good riding suspension and a good looking jeep. It's going in the shop on May 15th (2023)
I can honestly say the only other brand lift I have ever used was BDS. It was on my Ram Pickup. I have owned 9 Jeeps now and have run Rough Country on every one of them. I also run it on my 2016 Tundra. I’m not a rock crawler, just a trail runner so I can tell you with 100% certainty that I’ve never broken or replaced any parts on my lifts. Back in the day RC got a bad rap for bad bushings and somehow that stigma has stuck around and because their products are mass produced people think they’re inferior. I’ve been to the plant right there in Dyersburg TN and watched components being built, powder coated and processed and I’ll tell you it’s impressive. You won’t be disappointed with the kit you bought, I know several friends that have used their kits…but at the end of the day I go everywhere they go and I’ve got the extra $$ in my wallet and when I ride with them…it still rides like a Jeep to me. Thank you so much for your feedback this is exactly the content I was hoping for!! Thank you
@roughcountrygarage7943 I'm sure I won't be disappointed with this lift but I believe ur 100% correct,I've watched I bet a 1000 videos and many of them with rough country and actual employees that have a rough country lift on their jeep for 10 plus years..live and learn
What kind of bumper is that?
These are Smittybilt bumpers. I wanted them to match, that’s why I chose the set. The rear bumper is the only one I could find that was tow rated. Thank you!!
did you need to change any gears ?
Not necessarily…it would definitely be a benefit to do it but it’s not required.
how’s the lift holding up?
Holding up well….no problems at all. I’m about ready to upgrade the shocks. Gonna give the new V2’s a go. I’ll make a new post on it when I do.
Any rubbing with the 35s?
No rubbing but I do run a spacer also. Not sure if they would otherwise but I’ll check and report
Since this question I have removed the spacers and still have no rub running the 35’s on 15x8 pro comp steelies.
