I’d like to know what the patients do all day though? What programs or services/treatments they get?? Anyone know? I’ve always been interested in this field but never got into it.
Majority of units have their patients stay in the dayhall during the day. Most units do not want their patients sleeping all day,for them to only roam around at night. As far as activities; they watch movies, have music group with instruments, music therapy, patio breaks to play volleyball, soccer or just sit and relax. There are origami group sessions, Spanish group, religious group gatherings and so on. The staff make the effort to provide options.
We always called it The Nut House for a reason. I don't believe they have the criminally insane there anymore. I think it's mostly drug rehabilitation. Back in the 80s, some of the patience were murdered by the staff.
@@MiguelPerez-xj8lx not exactly. Only jobs that come close to entry level are student assistant and California Conservation corps. There will be a job fair on October 18th, 2024 from 11am to about 2pm at James Hall inside the hospital grounds.
A few errors in this story but still neat to see MSH being highlighted. My wife chaired the founding of the musuem and there were no University students involved. I spent much of my career there and witnessed plenty of history worth preserving.

Its a mental asylum...For the criminally insane. Thats something these guys won't really go into...
Not all the patients there are criminals. Forensic patients, as they are called, are in the compound (gated).
