Hi. I am a app developer and professional streamer helping people cut the cord. I normally expose UA-cam "streaming advise" channels because of all the misinformation. BUT I have to say I really like your content. It's refreshing to finally find good streaming advise
i side load my firestick with movie apps like cinema, and film plus, and beetv , but i get ads that will freeze the screen making me have to reboot the stick . usually get these ads when backing out from a link search ,the add will totally freeze the screen ,its very annoying . have you had this problem?
I used Roku for several years before taking the plunge to Firestick 4K Max - i don't mind seeing a couple of adverts, looks more modern and love that Firestick does more and being in the UK, can use a VPN which is a big bonus
10:42 Looks like Roku device DOES have an ETHERNET connection, which allows a direct connection to home gateway, which gives superior connection to WiFi.
We have both Rokus and Fire sticks on our TVs, just because they are so cheap on dale, and, as you pointed out, there advantages to each. All of our devices work fine, but I find it amazing that our original Roku LT from 2011 still works. More or less!
Had me sold on Roku as soon as I heard "headphone jack". Perfect for my needs and the free shows won't hurt any either. Have been getting frustrated with the fire stick locking up & freezing, constant reboots, etc. Been using those for years. Don't like the menu so much either. Time to try something different. Great video. Thank you.
I tried to love the fire stick even upgraded to the 4kmax newest models and it sucks I always get audio cut out with my receiver at random times having to turn off everything tye turn it back on and it's works again also even with the latest models it can become laggy just scrolling through apps. I'm using a Roku 4k stick now with no audio problems when exiting apps it can get a little lag but not much at all thats all I noticed Roku is a smooth experience Amazon needs to fix there performance and audio issues
That is not true. You can change the audio options. It is automatically set at a certain choice and that leaves it open for each person to set their own needs. Explore your options...they are there. My Roku has lasted a very long time. My last one died after 8 years...so I'll say I got my monies worth out of it. I'm not here to diss the fire stick, I've only used Roku. As for ads, I hate them, and if the fire stick has more ads, I'm definately out. The last Roku I purchased was a stick and it works beautifully for my second TV.
The Fire stick home screen is to cluttered and has to many ads. Thats why Roku is still the #1 selling streaming device. The average user doesn't want third party apps. They just want Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, HBO max and similar apps.
In my experience rokus OS is a lot smoother when clicking around, firestick feels more sluggish. To me that counts for a lot. I've never felt like I was missing out on any app on roku, they've had every app I've ever wanted.
Had a Roku for years and my kids broke the remote and I bought a fire stick and absolutely fucking hate it. ALWAYS having issues. Volume stops working, you press a button and it sticks, the video gets fucked up like the tv itself has a broken screen and probably some more shit I’m not remembering right now but fuck Amazon and their fire stick I regret not buying another Roku
I do have issues with firestick connecting good to wifi a room over, but lll take firestick mostly for kodi only otherwise I'd just say go roku Fortunately, really zero point of either with smart TVs and Kodi is crap compared to how it wAs. Seems like anything good like movies just released or a tv show is kinda hard to find these days (10 years ago it was far easier to use 3rd party app like Kodi. It's gotten harder to access things at least for myself)
@@UpgradeGuyTech It's not a matter of simplicity. Amazon is a horrible company and even if it wasn't, the Firestick has a garbage interface with more ads than I've seen literally anywhere else.
@@UpgradeGuyTech it wasn't very expensive. The TV I believe was around $350 for a 65" and the android box was only about $30. I love my setup. There isn't anything I can't watch.

I have Roku tv built in to my Phillips tv and I still use firestick. I have all the popular free streaming apps on the TV and kodi and other apps for sports on the firestick. I live on the west coast and all my favorite sports teams are back east were I'm originally from and while I can get some of the sports apps on the TV having and using them on the firestick allows me to change location so I can watch my favorite teams
Where can I get more info on Kodi and such? I’m trying to cut my cable but have been hesitant due to wanting to watch live sports still. Thanks in advance for any help.
Firestick I'd not superior to roku. Roku is extremely better. Yes its more expensive because your probably not using kodi....but the point is the menu system is pure chaotic garbage. Firestick is pure junk. I use my for my streaming and my firestick is a paperweight for papers on my desk.
I thought this was going to be a good video, but again you're comparing the Roku vs fire TV as a power user. Which is disappointing. Again it's not the power users that buy these devices because they make up a tiny fraction of the market. You also didn't mention that on Roku devices you never have to clear the cache or force stop apps. Also I have a fire tv stick 4k max and a 2020 Roku Ultra that comes with the Roku voice remote pro and I'm a power user and i prefer the Roku Ultra because it's just a better and faster device. At the end of the day if you can't get an app from the streaming device app store is it worth using? I think not. I'm happy you like fire TV OS, but you're a power user and you shouldn't compare devices based on being a power user.
No kodi so the only way to watch my media through roku would be to screen share from another device which really defeats the purpose. I'm a "power user" and while you can side load roku it's just easier for me to stream what interest me on the firestick. 🏴☠️Life
@@RayraywheelzSee the average person that makes up the 95% of the people that buy these devices don't know about Kodi. All they care about is which device is going to play max and Netflix the best. @@UpgradeGuyTechit's great that Amazon lets you sideloaded apps for now, but you can't say one device is better than the other because of sideloading apps. The 2022 Apple TV 4k is a better streaming device than both the 2020 Roku Ultra and fire TV 4k max. What really makes the 2020 Roku Ultra the best on the best streaming device on the market is that it comes with the Roku voice remote pro at no extra cost. it literally makes your Roku Ultra a hands free device. @@egg_timer You can only load the apps they approve of, not the ones you want. Fire stick can sideload. Of course some people are cattle and just want to eat whatever their owner shoves in front of them.
Firestick vs Roku. I prefer Roku Ultra 4k box. Reason simplicity. No adds or very little if they do. Ethernet Connection, Can add Storage, Free Live TV. I am older but that doesn't mean I don't understand anything about tech I know enough. Voice remote. I don't care for the voice thing, I don't want anything turned on that can listen to me in the privacy of my home. I turn all voice controls OFF on anything that has it and that includes my phone. Fire stick allows you to listen to blue tooth headphones as well, you just have to pair it up.
name one thing you can customize in all those fire TV menus you scrolled over - i dare you
no bluetooth on rook makes it a pain to use with headphones. For me its a pass despite UI being better.

I like the less forced many ads the fire does but w/ Roku's closed system, I wouldn't be able to add apps if they're not already included??
