Allergic Conjunctivitis is the inflammation of conjunctiva, a layer of the eye. It could be seasonal or perennial, which is throughout the year.
Allergen can be pollen or animal dander. In children it is known as VKC.
The symptoms are of increased immune activity like itching, watering, recurrent eye, rubbing, redness or discharge. It could be genetic associated with skin changes, running nose, atopy.
Medical management comprises of use of steroids, anti-allergic medication and immunomodulate. But it is very important to counsel the parents regarding the kid has to avoid rubbing his eyes. They have to apply cool compress to the kid's eyes.

I use 3% DMSO drops and anti histamin pills (Cetirizin) for my allergic conjunctivitis. The drops are a game changer.
